Everyone, please - enough with the "YOU FORGOT..."
Once again. This is not a video about every single thing Mickey has appeared in or every single costume he has ever worn, it is about the evolution of his 'design'.
Yes, he may appear in 'Mickey and the Roadster Racers' in racing gear, but his design is prominently the same as every other 3D version of the character, such as that from 'Mickey Mouse Clubhouse' - which was touched on in the video.
If I were to talk about every single thing Mickey ever appeared in and every time he changed an outfit or a t-shirt, we'd be here all day.
I love how you represented Mickey, can you make a video on why Disney won't make Mickey movie any time soon?
Dave Lee Down Under the 1999-2016
But what about all the Kingdom Hearts games and Epic Mickey and Disney Infinity? Like where are all the video games
if I may mention it, there was one very brief character design change, mickeys 3-dimensional ears and big teeth in "the little whirlwind"
did you do one of these for every video?
I actually like how in really old cartoons cartoon characters have eyes that look like Pacman
Yeah they do I agree
They're called pie eyes
Pac man has eyes that look like Pac man
Classic is wonderful
@@Harakatheboye but look like pac man
it baffles me SO MUCH that the first words mickey said was "hot dogs!"
How? In Mickey Mouse clubhouse they have an entire song dedicated to hot dogs
@@thecrazylehan6771 yeah
No sounded more like up dog
hot dog hot dog hot diggity dog
Chip Box Of Life is that why?????
*Fun Fact:* Walt Disney Designed Mickey’s ears in a way so both ears can be seen from every angle!
I like the Mickey in Steamboat willy and in Mickey mouse clubhouse
For a few cartoons starting with The Little Whirlwind, Mickey's ears were redesigned so they would look not perfectly round when his head was in a silhouette but audiences didn't like the new look so the ears became perfect circles once again and stayed that way ever since even in CGI form.
@@mevb I was about to mention the same fact. Good job.

You really think I'm about to sit through a 10 minute video about the evolution of Mickey Mouse when I have 384 assignments due?

I'd really like to see how Mickey would look in a "Ducktales 2017" style...
@joey boy Nah, the Ducktales style is completely different from that one
Maybe the Pie Eyes his red pants white gloves but diffrent appearance to the animation
He'd probably be a lot more angular since the Ducktales style tends to favor sharp edges and pointy ends over round and smooth circles.
0Marty0 lol
@@mr.deejay8830 I'm not kidding when I say that I am physically incapable of picturing an angular Mickey in my head! The closest I can get to is the new Mickey Mouse shorts design.
I love Mickey's 30's style, he's a lot more flexible and more expressive compared to his older design, which can lead to some fantastic displays of emotion and smooth animation. I do enjoy his modern design, it's neat and all, but 30's Mickey has a place in my heart and will always remain my favorite Mickey
I like 20s and 30s design
@@babuska922 20s design is very nostalgic, thats why i love 20s design
My favorite design of him was 1939: Mickey’s surprise party! When ever I think of Mickey that’s how I imagine him
same
Garfield
Same.
My favorite look is actually one that wasn't mentioned. Mickey went through a slight design change in Epic Mickey. While the base design is heavily influence from the Pie-Eyes version, Mickey is a bit skinnier and lankier, if only by a little, making him seem more stretchy and malleable, sorta like an ink blot, which is appropriate given the games theming and the fact that Mickey literally absorbs some of The Blot. This version of Mickey is a well-meaning character, but his curiosity caused all the problems that led to the story of Epic Mickey, so he's certainly a bit more mischievous, just in the Steamboat Willie "playful" way!
I miss him being more heroic and mischievous.
I really love Epic Mickey the first game of course.
I love how he slowly starts to understand his playful mischievous actions have consequences.
Makes him more realistic then him just being a Happy Go Lucky Hero.
@@KyleEvraYOU GET IT, ITS WHY I LOVE THAT GAME SO DEARLY
It’s my most favourite design of him, I love that game so much it’s dear to my heart, I got the figure for the game and I will always love it :-)
My fondest childhood memories of Mickey Mouse was repeated Christmas viewings of Mickey's Once (and Twice) Upon a Christmas and reruns of House of Mouse. I love that Mickey is still a major part in Disney's legacy today, and while I'm not an avid watcher of the new cartoons, I really like the distinct style and the more I see clips of them and will try to check them out soon. My favorite Mickey cartoons are easily The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Get a Horse, Thru the Mirror, The Band Concert, Lend a Paw, and Pluto's Judgement Day, just to name a few.
What's his secret? He doesn't look a day over 20!
I’m pretty sure he moisturizes.
It’s because he used a spray that makes him look young no matter how old he is XD
The rest of the gang uses it and so does every other cartoon character for the golden age (who got a reboot, at the very least)
How old is he he doesn’t look a day over 35!!!
Shloomy Sloms NGL he looks like he could be a child XD
I’m pretty sure he pretends to be younger on roblox pun intended
My favorite Mickey Mouse cartoon is The Band Concert, but my favorite appearance of his is in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice in Fantasia. Mickey’s Christmas Carol and Mickey and the Beanstalk also hold a special place in my heart
3:26 Mickey randomly spanks a hotdog child for no reason, lol
There's reason. The hot dog jumped out of the bun as someone was about to eat it. Or when Mickey was trying to put it in a bun. One or the other.
@@bleepiestofbloops it was when Minnie tried to eat it.

I love the pie eyed Mickey which is why I love the new Mickey shorts! But I like the 40's/90's version as well. I really don't like the 50's Mickey, I feel he is the weirdest looking one...
I love the pie eyes
Same I love the Mickey shorts because they kinda brung the old style back
I love his 28's look he's so cute ! Also the iconic Pie eyes !
I call them pac man eyes
House of Mouse/Mickey Mouse Works/Runaway Brain are my favorite versions of Mickey. I also like Through the Mirror(1936) for the choreography and playful attitude.

Happy Birthday, Mickey Mouse!
2:11 well, at least everyone now knows where this classic scene was from
One fact is wrong. Though Walt Disney himself did most of Mickey's voice during the 30's and 40's until Fun and Fancyfree where it was the last time he did Mickey due to both being very busy as boss and also his voice were affected by smoking too much and therefore only the first half of Mickey and The Beanstalk and for the rest of the shorts and TV-special until Mickey's Christmas Carol, he was replaced by Sound Designer Jimmy McDonald, Walt didn't do Mickey's voice in Carnival Kid, that is a common mistake. It was actually music director Carl W. Stalling most known for doing music for Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons, who did Mickey's first voice with "Hot Dogs! Hot Dogs!".
A missed fact that for a short time Mickey's ears would change from perfectly round all the time no matter the direction he was facing, to slightly more realstic ears that looks differnet when angeled, starting with The Little Whirlwind but audicenes didn't like the design so he returned to his iconic perfectly round ears, similar to Elmer Fudd was overweight for a few cartoons to match body physique with his voice actor Arthur Q Bryant (though his fat face were kept for the future).
I was born in 1954.The Mickey Mouse Club(1955-1959)had to have been the first show Mom turned on to keep me quiet for a half-hour.

Loved this. My favorite is the 50s version, but I'm really happy to see the new cartoons are giving him some life and personality.
Well done, Dave! Fred Moore's Mickey design is the one I love most.

Mickey is my favorite character
I love all of the designs of Mickey, 2013 is my favorite one, You should also see mickey in Kingdom hearts!
🥒
Fred Moore's Mickey Mouse is my favorite design.
My favorite Mickey Mouse cartoons was Steamboat Willie and Symphony Hour. What I like about Steamboat Willie is it is a parody to Steamboat Bill Jr starring Buster Keaton. What I like about Symphony Hour is that Goofy accidentally broken the instruments and the musicians were forced to play them live. And I was shocked when Mickey pulled a gun on Donald when he was trying to walk out in the middle of the performance!
My favorite Mickey Mouse is 1928's Plane Crazy Design
Mickey is my favorite character no matter how old I get I love him so much
Same here I love him so much!
I love the 20s design
We just wish DeStorm Power would take us back to those days. I would go with Ray William Johnson, but he is closer to Justin Timberlake than Mickey Mouse.

5:00 and 5:41 are my favorite designs of Micky mouse. I also like the design from the mad doctor
Mickey mouse is my number one favorite Disney character, second is Goofy and I love him so much!❤ he's been around for 91 years and I am a Disney fan and a Monster Jam fan. That would be cool if Monster Jam contact Disney to make a Mickey Mouse and all of the characters into a MJ truck. and you can't have Disney without Mickey mouse.
I didn't like Mickeys most recent redesign the first time I saw it. I was in line in Toon Town to see Mickey and they were playing the newer shorts. They are actually really funny so now I've warmed up to his new design. Isn't it crazy how afraid we are of change? To anyone against the new Mickey, I say just give the shorts a chance, you might like what you see.
Yeah... It doesn't really matter how it look cuz after a while you gonna get use to it. Take this two examples: the live action remake of Genie pissed everyone, but after the newest trailer for Aladdin, we just don't really care anymore; now I know I enter in video game area, but games use animations so... The design for Knuckles for Sonic BOOM shoked the fans in a bad way, but now no one really care about how it looks.
I don’t love Mickey and Disney anymore
It's ugly

i always call these "pie eyes" from mickey "pacman eyes" even when pacman was a thing many decades later lmao, i guess i will call them pie eyes now :)
i forgot to add that my fav design is his late 1920s look in steamboat willie
My favourite appearance is Fantasia and my favourite short is Mickey's Christmas Carol. Thanks for doing this video about Mickey, really well done.

5:00 Fred Moore was a revolution for Mickey Mouse, before then artist were using coins to draw proportions. Now Mickey had the flow, rhythm and the flexibility he needed. Fred was also just naturally talented creating perfect line-work and almost instinctively finding the best way to draw a character.
you know ive gone too far when I start thinking of a fan-project from the Everywhere At the End of Time community that contains music from the early mickey cartoons (or as i call them, mickey’s glory days).

The most famous and most legendary cartoon character of all time and since he's the mascot of the Walt Disney Company.
1:53 Funny you should mention that because originally in Epic Mickey there was a concept where the more bad things you did the more Mickey's colors would turn monochrome and look like his Plane Crazy design (labled as Scrapper) while on the flipside, the more good things you did the more Mickey's colors would become brighter along with his face gaining a peach tone to look more like his design in Mickey and the Giant. (labeled as Salvager) but Junction Point canned the idea and instead had it where the more bad things you did the more the Phantom Blot's ink would drip off Mickey.

Old Mickey Mouse was so silly
I like a few different Mickey Mouse designs equally. Sorcerer Mickey and Runaway Brain Mickey get equal first place in my book. It's hard to choose just one favourite.
TBH, out of all of the character designs of the mouse, the Plane Crazy version had always been my favorite ever since kindergarten, especially with the cartoonish-ness of the eyes. In fact, I dare say that it had always been one of my main influences in my art style, as to this day, I still draw characters with round eyes, along with the small beady eyes that I've recently started drawing more often thanks to J.J. McCullough.
IMO, it's too bad that it's also the most underrated design compared to its Steamboat Willie counterpart. I've always wondered why the outlines of his eyes were removed.
I love the style of the 2 and 3 mickey mouse on the thumbnail
