May you rest in total peace Melanie. Thank you so much to your family for keeping your channel up. I’ve been watching you for years. Bless you, beautiful girl.
Melanie continues to be my go to. Thank you RIP
I love to hand sew. Great tutorial! I wish I knew the hide the knot trick before! thanks Melanie!
This technique and fabric would also work great for a scarf (different dimensions, of course!). Thanks for your tutorials Melanie, very informative!
This tutorial was really helpful. Thank you for taking the time to create this video.
Love it! Can't wait to make one! Thank you for the video Melanie!
What a great idea, beautiful!! 😊👍
Congrats to Ashley! Cute Lovey!

I love how these turned out! My cousin is pregnant with her first baby right now, and I can't wait to make her tons of little things like this! Such beautiful fabric...and you have the best tutorials, Melanie! So easy to follow- I love watching your videos. Your passion for making has truly inspired me!
I appreciate those sweet words, thank you so much!
+Melanie Ham HI MELANIE I LOVE YOUR BLOG JUST NEED TO KNOW IF YOU KNOW ABOUT CIRCULAR KNITTING IAM TRYING TO MAKE A BABY BLANKET THANK YOU
Awesome!
Hi, Melanie. I really love your ideas, really cute. You truly have a knack for crafting. What's the best method to do crafts? Have a lovely day, Melanie. 💖💖💖
Thank you very much! 😎🌸
You are the best!
so easy!!!!!!!!!!! thank you
Great project Melanie. I love the fabrics you selected!
Could you have used a double needle on the edge? Also would you be able to do a video on how to use/what to use a double needle for? Thank you for all the education you provide. I always love your videos.
Cute lovies! If I make a larger one to be a baby blanket, are there any special tips I should be aware of? Thanks!
I have a question on the double gauze. how do you cut it straight. mine keeps shifting and I can't figure out how to get a square cut, any suggestions?
What material is the backing, purple stars? Please.
Great Video! Thanks for showing us two ways to finish the edges. I've never used double gauze but with my 5th grandbaby due in July, I'm definitely going to be making some loveys.
These are darling! I don't have a baby anymore or know anyone that is going to...but I am making this anyway! ❤️❤️
Thanks Gina!
I'm thinking of making a scarf for myself! Lol
MillieD You should! 😊
Hey! I love your videos! I was wondering if you could do some videos on little girls dresses? I'm a beginner and I have two grand daughters that I like to see for. They are 3 and almost 5. I would love to try whatever you come up with!
More quilting stuff!
Hey there! Love ya! A little off topic but need your help please! In the ?early 80's the fad was using a hook that had two end hooks and you worked with two different colors! They came in different sizes usually used to make Reversible blankets ! It was fast and fun! Do you know of it ? Can't find them in the stores any more? Thanks'
Can you sew sequins and bugle beads on the muslin fabric ?
I love this! I'm having trouble signing up for your 5 days quilting website.
+Susan Jones hi Susan! Which part are you having trouble with? Were you able to confirm your email address?
+Susan Jones I see you and just granted you access ... You should have gotten an email :)
❤
This is super cute! I think I will make a few for a girl I work with, who is expecting her 1st baby. Question, could I put a batting in between the 2 fabrics, would make it more cuddly. What do you think? TFS!
Yes, you could put batting if you like! Flannel would work too ;)
Where do you get your gauze materia the butt fly with the purple is beautiful
Never mind, I just got my password sent to me. Thanks . what a great website!!
Excuse my ignorance! But what is a baby lovey? Is it used like a receiving blanket?
Beautiful
This is a very sweet project, but you should be aware that the very long thread quilting with large stitches can cause a strangulation hazard for babies and toddlers. Their tiny fingers or toes can easily work out a loop of thread which can then become a long loop of thread and disaster ensues. Tight top stitching or quilting is always recommended for items used on baby and toddler items.
What does double gauze mean?
Hi Melanie!! love your tutorials! Did you pre-wash and dry this gauze or washed it after sewing?
+Sarah Elizabeth I did not pre wash before. If you want to sew a garment then you would need to pre wash for sure
+Melanie Ham Thank you! I thought that was probably the case, and you got the quilting effect by washing after. They are beautiful!!
Where are the directions to make this from the beginning? Also, what is the end result size?
What size do you make these?
Thanks for asking this question! I'd like to know the size as well.
10" x10" according to an internet chart
Where did you get this fabric?
There are links she included in the description.

What type of fabric did you use for the back
+Lindsay York same as the front, it's double gauze on both sides
Ok thank you so much gonna make one for a baby shower
What is the measurements on this "lovey" blanket?
10" x 10" according to an internet chart I found
Don't you love your juki!?
I love your videos, can you please teach us how to sew a pj pants
Omg my last name is Ham i am in Australia and i am a full Ausie small wold .
What is a luvee?
Ok, this ol' lady needs to know what a Lovey is. My kids are older (20 and 16) I have no idea what it is for. It's to little to be a blanket to nice for a burp cloth.
I had to google it :)
It is a blankie / security blanket.
Thanks for letting me know, I'm not so sure I want to make those for babies. I had a girl friend in high school still have her blankie, it looked awful. She finally gave it up when she got married!! LOL
LOL!!
You're right, too nice for a burp cloth... so change the dimensions and make a soft between-seasons scarf for yourself! (the double-gauze cotton is very soft, and the pretty hand-sewing and 'crinkly' after-drying look would look great around the neck!)
If you made it just a teeny bit bigger you could call it a car seat blanket
can you be my best friend??
I'm sorry but what's a baby lovey???
