    Could you have used a double needle on the edge? Also would you be able to do a video on how to use/what to use a double needle for? Thank you for all the education you provide. I always love your videos.

    Great Video! Thanks for showing us two ways to finish the edges. I've never used double gauze but with my 5th grandbaby due in July, I'm definitely going to be making some loveys.

    Hey there! Love ya! A little off topic but need your help please! In the ?early 80's the fad was using a hook that had two end hooks and you worked with two different colors! They came in different sizes usually used to make Reversible blankets ! It was fast and fun! Do you know of it ? Can't find them in the stores any more? Thanks'

    This is super cute! I think I will make a few for a girl I work with, who is expecting her 1st baby. Question, could I put a batting in between the 2 fabrics, would make it more cuddly. What do you think? TFS!

    • @MelanieHam

    This is a very sweet project, but you should be aware that the very long thread quilting with large stitches can cause a strangulation hazard for babies and toddlers. Their tiny fingers or toes can easily work out a loop of thread which can then become a long loop of thread and disaster ensues. Tight top stitching or quilting is always recommended for items used on baby and toddler items.

    What does double gauze mean?

  • @sarahelizabeth856
    @sarahelizabeth856 8 років тому

    Hi Melanie!! love your tutorials! Did you pre-wash and dry this gauze or washed it after sewing?

    • @MelanieHam
      @MelanieHam  8 років тому

      +Sarah Elizabeth I did not pre wash before. If you want to sew a garment then you would need to pre wash for sure

    • @sarahelizabeth856
      @sarahelizabeth856 8 років тому

      +Melanie Ham Thank you! I thought that was probably the case, and you got the quilting effect by washing after. They are beautiful!!

    Ok, this ol' lady needs to know what a Lovey is. My kids are older (20 and 16) I have no idea what it is for. It's to little to be a blanket to nice for a burp cloth.

      You're right, too nice for a burp cloth... so change the dimensions and make a soft between-seasons scarf for yourself! (the double-gauze cotton is very soft, and the pretty hand-sewing and 'crinkly' after-drying look would look great around the neck!)
