But you guys have the Audi, BMW, Benz and Toyota wagons…. And us North Americans don’t. We really want those wagons. The SUV craze here is out of control
@@faheemabbas3965 For now. Unfortunately, crossovers are taking hold in EU as well. With slushboxes. In some ways its even worse with the silly niche fillers they keep cramming new models into.
@@trashrabbit69the American car buying mindset is all about space and practicality. So little premium hatchbacks like these don’t sell in our market. The Mazdas that do sell here are bigger crossovers like the CX-50 and the CX-90. Mazda is also bringing a CX-70 to the US which is pretty much a smaller CX-90.
I have a 22 of this and after 1.5 years of ownership it is shaping up to be the best car I have ever owned. Super comfortable, quiet, lots of features(lane keep is kind of scary to use though so I don't) and it has a good punch when you need to merge or overtake. Interior is keeping up like a champ as well. My one main gripe, and its kind of a big one, is the fuel economy. Its absolutely ABYSSMAL in pure city driving. It's a struggle to keep it into the 20s frankly. On my pure city commute(think rush hour traffic morning and afternoon in a large city) I average between 19 and 23.5MPG from a 2.5L turbo....I don't drive like a grandma but I don't have a lead foot either. On longer highway trips its fine, about 32-33mpg as advertised. This is on regular 87. On something like 93 V-power I swear I get considerably better mpg but I never think to actually reset the trip when I fill up a full tank with it. I always forget so unfortunately I don't have numbers. Could just be placebo. YMMV. Otherwise great car, though. Just a bit on the expensive side. If you are planning to get it as a hot hatch since the Type R and GR 'rolla are so spendy, consider you are going to need to uprate the brakes and the tire. They are both still very much commuter/comfort components and the car is easily capable of out driving both as-equipped from factory with a 215 grand touring tire and very tiny brakes(for the power). The suspension is also quite soft in the corners, but not the worst. I would not take this to the track without some serious modifications if that is your thing. Best to think of it as a young businessman's express for when you've finally broken out from a job into a career and you can afford to get yourself something nice for a change but can't quite afford BMW maintenance fees yet.
I just picked up one just like the car featured here (2023 Soul Red Crystal Turbo Premium Plus Hatch) for a new daily and so far I'm loving it. It's comfortable, with nice handling and power, and the majority of creature comforts I'd want in a daily. Only thing I find myself maybe wishing were here are ventilated or cooled seats, and wireless Android Auto (which I believe is coming next year). So far, I'm really loving it, and while I wish it came with a manual option, my wife can't drive stick so I'd have wanted to get this in auto anyway since she has to be able to drive it if needed (and I still have a manual in my weekend toy).
If only, we got this gem in the EU... such a great car !

The lane keep assist was frightening. I almost don’t want to bother test driving one if it’s that bad. Lol
