I loved every minute of it and was genuinely moved by it and have no idea how to explain why I loved it so much. I genuinely think it is an amazing and beautiful film. I wish I could put into words the reasons for my positive reaction to this film but I simply don't know how.
The movie had a lot of nuance and philosophical meaning. There were a lot of “moments” but the “moments” never amounted into something graspable to take with me out the theater. I felt like I was seeing the Mona Lisa but with terrible vision. I knew the potential beauty of the painting, but only saw a blurred lines.
With how successful the limited series are on streaming service you have to wonder why directors chop their films down to two hours instead of making it a two or three part mini series.
It has some great visuals and I laughed way more than I should have so I think its fair to say I enjoyed it. I didn't really understand most of the dialogue and it got boring but I still got entertained. Aubrey Plaza and Shia Labeouf are my favorite parts of the film.
Found it to be monumental. Gorgeous and couldn’t believe what I was watching. Some awe-inspiring moments and scenes. But it isn’t for everyone, for sure.
By monumental do you mean a cheap ass looking film that combined high school level writing with directionless acting performances? A film isn’t monumental simply because it came from a legend of the industry.
Terrible film, a nonsense that is not understood. The actresses are of very low quality and it shows in their acting and since the actor does not understand his role it is not known if the acting is good or bad. Now I understand why the movie studios didn't want to produce it. There is no script and it is the sum of incomprehensible philosophical scenes. Very BAD and a failure at the box office and in critics, even though there are some who rescue something from this disaster, probably some snobbish critic .
Speaking of Metropolis. All the effects they had were made using chalk. The lights in the city were someone putting a camera and drawing chalk lines and erasing it, and repeating. To make it look like a seamless shot of fancy city lights. Today, this technology actually exists, but in 1927, Metropolis truly looked like a futuristic city. Nothing back then was close to what that city looked like. I completely forgot this comparison with Megalopolis. Thanks for reminding me Austin!

All I could compare this to (experience wise) was a high concept Amsterdam (yes, the David O Russell movie with Christian Bale) because of the objectively skilled director (David O Russell can direct well, as shown with Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, and The Fighter), with an insane cast (Christian Bale, John David Washington, Margot Robbie and a ton of other people) in a movie a little over 2 hours (Amsterdam is 2h 14m, Megalopolis is 2h 18m) and it's really 5 hours of genuine story stuffed into this one movie. Now I understand why the movie studios didn't want to produce it. There is no script and it is the sum of incomprehensible philosophical scenes. Very BAD and a failure at the box office and in critics, even though there are some who rescue something from this disaster, probably some snobbish critic and friend of Coppola?
I enjoyed it, you can see where they cut a lot of the film. van If anyone is into gaming, I would describe this movie like this, if Hideo Kojima ever got a chance to direct a movie, it would be this. It's either a masterpiece or a total mess . To me this movie was a beautiful mess
Sometimes the studios know what they’re doing and the greats create garbage.
So basically this is rebel moon but instead of a star wars geek it is made by a pretentious artist
Francis Ford Coppola is a legit artist.
@@jesseowenvillamor6348 Of course, he is one of if not the greateat director ever. But sometimes having a vision doesnt necessary translate well to the screen.
@@olivierroussin4432 At least the guy has a vision and ambition.
@@jesseowenvillamor6348 true, at least this is his entire movie, way better than those studio's productions like Borderlands and SonyVerse. His product is intact from interference.
This movie was doomed to fail from start with production chaos to now Francis sexual misconduct allegations, I am surprised movie is even getting theatre release, it will do well on ott than theatre, Hollywood purist have almost boycotted this movie
Go to college.
Already did
Got my degree chump

Is there a way i can block this channel? You sound like you're better suited for a Marvel movie.
@@user-jeffjack imagine looking for a way to block a channel (as opposed to just ignoring it), while at the same time, questioning people’s intelligence. Everything ok over there, little guy?
@TaitsTake after seeing the movie last night I was so impressed I could hardly sleep and am going to definitely see it again. It has always bugged me to running into people who don't seem qualified to do the job. So yes I got a little excited.
@@user-jeffjack let’s normalize recognizing people’s different opinions as opposed to questioning their intelligence. Austin has been doing this professionally for years. There’s a reason for his success.
@@TaitsTake Hard to believe but okay.
Thanks my friend
People just don’t know how opinions work these days. Feel like it should be basic knowledge, but some people need to be educated!
This sounds like a visual representation of verbal diarhea. I'm definitely going to watch it and torture myself lol.
Sorry dude, you’re just some beard ‘guy’ in a baseball hat (surprised you didn’t have it on backwards) that probably thinks that Marvel Movies are the epitome of Cinema. Credit for ‘some’ insightful observations, but so
many things you just get wrong and gloss over, it’s too much to go into. You need a better film education before you start pontificating about something that’s obviously over your head. Check out D W Griffith’s ‘Intolerance’ for a better idea of where Coppola is coming from. This one is going to be talked about for years. Apocalypse Now, anyone ?

I’m not just some bum
How about a literal college degree in the field? Because I have that.
I don’t need to prove myself to some no-name schmuck being an ass in my comments section. Have some respect or you will never have your insignificant opinion taken seriously.
Very BAD and a failure at the box office and in critics, even though there are some who rescue something from this disaster, probably some snobbish critic.
You are a cartoon.
I’m super curious but I’m afraid of being bored 🥱 I want to watch the craziness because now I’m expecting it. I’m just afraid that I’ll be bored.
@@Pupeyes you won't be bored. It's never boring.
