The movie shows the story of four friends travelling to the former soviet republic of Kyrgyzstan in 2012. Super confident they made their way into the Tien Shan mountain range, where they were confronted with snowconditions they have never seen before...

Wow, how have I missed this video! Absolutely great story and impressive skiing and terrain at the end. Way to stay the course! The snowpack looks eerily similar to the snowpack we found in late March this season on a little recce around the Altai mountains in Xinjiang Province in far NW China. Exactly the same consolidated layer at the top and then rotten all the way to the base. Consistent CT and ECT's results of 1...... glad you came out of it in one piece to make this inspiring short film. Nice work!

Because we love to explore new places, where not many skiers have been before :-)

It is quite close of Bishkek to the south in the Ala Archa national park. First you climb up to Ratzek cabin, a very famous hut for the Kyrgyz mountain guides. I think they make their training courses up there and from that you hike up to the yellow cabin, it lies on the way to corrona peak. You better acclimatize well before, because it lies on 4.000m altitude. If you go there check out if there are still one pair of skis hanging on the Ratzek cabin, we broke them on our last day and hung them to the hut :-)

End of March till beginning of April, but we´ve been in Kyrgyzstan this year aswell in beginning of May, which was much better for skiing at least above 4.000 meters altitude.
FYI the skiing starts at 15:00.......

thank you. ive been all hyped up about the thought of middle eastern skiing lately. been hearing promising words mainly about iran and turkey. but i thought the snow quality in that clip was a bit too good to be true. not many places on earth have as good snow as the alps

Yes) Didn't actually noticed skis the last time I was there (end of April), but I'm sure they are still on the hut facade as before, noticed white-blue pair of Movements(?) every time I was there.

Also, I'm not sure, but ... some years ago I also saw white-red BlackDiamonds on one local's feet, may be it is also pair of skis from this video? As well as bright orange Arcteryx jacket, may be, there was no such a stuff at that time here available. That is why I've noticed.
Oh wow! That‘s really a honor that the skis are still there! They‘re called mountain wave, Jakob broke them at the very last descent. That‘s why we decided to put them on the hut.
Yes we gave one pair of skis and the Arcteryx jacket to a local mountain guide and also an Adidas jacket and a ice axe to another one. Really happy to read all that!
