After it was previously confirmed that Jodie Whittaker's final episode of Doctor Who would air on Sunday 23rd October 2022, we now know exactly what time we need to be sat down in front of the TV.
The Power of the Doctor will air at 7:30pm on BBC One, and with the special clocking in at a whopping 90 minutes, meaning it will finish airing at 9pm on the channel.
The episode, which not only marks the final adventure for Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor but has also been designed as part of the BBC's Centenary celebrations, is set to usher in a new era, with showrunner Chris Chibnall also departing the long-running sci-fi series.
The official synopsis for the episode says: "In this feature-length special to mark her last adventure, Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor must fight for her very existence, against her deadliest enemies: the Daleks, the Cybermen and her arch-nemesis, the Master."
In this video, I'm discussing the power of the Doctor and why the series will never be seen again.

Congrats on 100k legends!
Finally got chance to sit down and properly watch this! Fantastic production my friend and a great interview with Jamie Magnus Stone! Thank you for inviting me to be a part of it! After having lived in Liverpool for several years it felt great to get in touch with my inner Scouse again! 😊
oh and of course.... #CrispyForShowRunner 🥳
Thank you so much Adam! So many people loved your John Bishop impression ✨
This was a great video - really digging the high production - love WhoTube but we lack the video essay type stuff and this fills that gap in perfectly! Definitely do more of these!
Harbo Wholmes does the video essays you are looking for.
Harbo Wholmes is a great shout for video essays! But I do intend to dip my toes in every month or so when I find something interesting to talk about
PLEASE GIVE WHOEVER VOICED THE PEOPLE A RAISE. JODIE, MANDIP AND JOHN WERE PITCH PERFECT
Each to their own I guess
I thought Jodie was amazing but John was spot on, like I actually took a double take. Admittedly that's as a Brit but Southerner so a Northerner might disagree. I did live in Sheffield for a few years and thought Jodie's was too Sheffield not Huddersfield!
John was done by a good mate of mine Adam Martyn. Go find his UA-cam. Jodie and Mandip were done by a lady on fivver
I think it's a bit cringe and overdone.
Wait what? A Crispy Pro video that runs 14 minutes, has a premise and production values! Dude!!! Amazing job. How great of you to reach out to Jamie Magnus Stone and how awesome of him to respond with actual footage (I love that claustrophobic eye shot). Great voices, sharp editing and an actual set. You should be proud of yourself.
Thank you Remy!!
This feels a bit like the New Who equivalent of the 'Original Season 23' from Classic Who.
Both were scrapped for a single serialized story.
Would love to make a video on that, I think Josh Snares has already made one on that!
This has to be your MAGNUM OPUS! Incredible stuff, and it's so cool you got THE Jamie Magnus Stone to be part of it too! And yeah I am still so impressed Flux exists, the fact it was made at all is a miracle and Chibnall and his team did such a brilliant job considering the circumstance, I have so much for respect for him and the team and I am so grateful that they pulled off the impossible: made Doctor Who during a *pandemic*!
Thank you so much! Could not have said that better myself!
Loving this new style!! The extra effort is really paying off
Glad you think so Cadi!
Especially considering the circumstances, it's incredible Flux was produced and made to feel as *big* as it did. Just for a while, Doctor Who felt like event television again :)
Completely agree with you!
you mean like a car crash or the Hindenburg?
Good job with the way this is shot/edited. Very professional.
Thank you Tom!
Amazing video Crispy, love the production quality and highlighting Flux's production!
Too kind, it was a topic I was really interested in
The production level in this video really showing off why Crispy should be showrunner 💯
Appreciate it!
Crispy is just the perfect amount of chill and charismatic to make any video better. Just put him at the end of the doctor who channel's videos "Mate, wot are you doing? Yuh bettuh not forget to subscribe to the Official Doccy Who youtube channel."
That’s exactly how I would say it!
Brilliant video Crispy and it was even better that we got some first hand insight from Jamie
I like the variety of filming in this channel, one video's set could be mistaken for an LTT one and the next is shot on a nintendo 3ds camera, love it!
We do love a bit of variety haha
The thing is, Doctor Who goes on hiatus for up to two years with at least one Xmas special each year, but they may not do a full season for one or two years, and this was BEFORE the pandemic.
The series (re)started in 2005, that was 17 years ago, so why are we just now at 13 seasons, with the 14th not starting until the END of next year? Heck we only had 2 episodes this year for season 13, with the final (maybe) Whittaker episode coming up this weekend, and then waiting another full year (+month) until the 60th Annv. special.
Love the production values on this. Very well made
Appreciate it Conner!
This is such a good video, the video quality is great and a lot better than… tbh any doctor who video essay I’ve ever seen!! Keep it up
Thank you so much!
Doctor Who was a British Science Fiction television series that ran between Saturday 23rd November 1963 and Saturday 15th July 2017.
A reboot of sorts was attempted, but dye to failing audience figures was scrapped.
It was decided to restart the original series!
🤔
Loved mixing up the format and I think the special trilogy is also a great idea. Wouldn’t miss flux for the world
I really enjoyed what they did with the show!
We’ve had two specials since Flux and we still don’t know what happened to the universe. Did it reset? Is it still devastated post-Flux?
Having just finished a re-watch, I don't think the universe reset, but the Flux event wasn't as devastating as at first thought. Apparently the Tardis 's appearance interrupted the first event and while some planets were completely destroyed, others were damaged, but salvageable. As we saw Bel travelling from planet to planet where Daleks and Cybermen were doing their own damage. Vinder also got dropped off on his home planet where he hoped to find Bel, so that planet survived. The 2nd flux event never really got started as the Doctor used the passenger form to suck up the flux, while also the Ood helped the Doctor to contain the area somehow (I might have that part confused). So, while there was a part of the universe destroyed, the rest of it was saved. That's my understanding of events.
In the Doctor Who Magazine Chibnall said that The Power of the Doctor would be always Jodie's finale (Master, Cybermen, Daleks). BBC ordered special episode - money went to finale of Thriteen Doctor and extra episode was Legend of the Sea Devils.
Great wideo. I really enjoyed it :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Also, Barrowman was meant to be back. Unsure of the source (maybe the BBC Scripts Library) but Jack Harkness running into the TARDIS was the cliffhanger of Revolution of the Daleks, so he was going to be part of it.
Wow, love the production quality! This looks fantastic!
Thank you Matt!
I wouldn’t really care if it was any different or not
It I would have liked an extra two episodes one before Halloween apocalypse to see 13 and yaz chasing after karvinista
And one after vanquishers so the ending was not so rushed
I do wonder what S13 would have been like had the pandemic not happened. I've been quite critical of the Chibnall era but I did enjoy the first 4 episodes of Flux, it just felt like they was trying to do to much in the last 2 episodes; I can't help but think that things would have turned out differently had there been another 2-4 episodes (as was probably initially intended).
Having said that, regardless of peoples opinions of S13/Chibnall, getting anything done at all during the pandemic is quite a feat for a show like Doctor Who, so hats off to everyone involved for getting S13 off the ground. It was interesting to hear from some of the people who worked on it (particularly the Jamie Magnus interview) and get some insight as to what filming a big sci-fi show in a pandemic was like.
Well put!
I agree. I hope RTD or future showrunners do another flux style serial if a story could span a good 8 eps at least perhaps when its the 15th doctor. It's a shame the pandemic made story seem rushed but you could see what they were aiming for. Any tv or movies produced during that time is an amazing effort from everyone. Hopefully RTD could bring back some of characters like Dan Karvanista and Bell or even tell the missing stories somehow. I guess it depends what the Centenary ep will cover.
I think it could've been so much better with more runtime, but I'm just glad they got anything done.
Thanks Crispy and Mr. Magnuson-Stone, I've got the Tetris music on a loop in my head now.
Rock on!
I think a 2 or 3 specials in 2021/2022 would work better. And after that series 13.
Btw, love it this new format! Good job, Crispy!
Noted!
Wowowow! I’m loving this style of video from the content to even the background setup 😮 hope to see more in the future
Yay! Thank you!
Loved this video! Really interesting stuff, nice one! :)
Thanks mate. Keep up the good content too ✨
Very interesting crispy well done I think your at least very close in your season that never was, lost.
Glad you found it interesting 🧐
Beautifully made video. Really communicatd it all well.
That being said, ,all the information, aside from Jamie's insight are things we covered on our Doctor Who show at the time. Yet we were called all sorts of nasty names for reporting our sources info.
Funny how things turn out.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video crispy. The directors insight was very interesting indeed
Glad you enjoyed Jamie's input! He is a legend
Love this new format! Well executed, Crispy!
Thank you! I am hoping to do more like this in the future!
Excellent job, Crispy, very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
The Tesla story may be my single favorite episode of the chibnall era. It was so well acted and a lot of fun. It’s very underrated. I did like flux but I did wonder what it would have been if it had more time. Love that Jaimie knows your channel! Crispy for Showrunner!😀
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video analysing the potential Series 13 & Flux we got. Loved hearing Director Jamie Magnus Stone talk about his time filming his magnificent episodes. Look forward to more video essays and interviews with cast & crew, oh & #CrispyForShowrunner!
Glad you enjoyed it lad!
Problems aside, I genuinely enjoyed parts of Flux. It played on the strengths I saw in Broadchurch, had very strong standalone episodes, and had some moments that felt fun. Yes, I am admitting there were problems in storytelling. But as mentioned, part of me wonders how it would’ve been had it not been for lockdown. Would it be weird for me to desire a graphic novel series adaptation in the future, implementing intended elements?
I think doctor who wouldn't have been cancelled as rtd was coming back but there may not have been a series 13.
Great work. Great format. Keep it up
Thanks, will do!
I love this style of video from you!! 🙌🙌
Thank you Jack!
I'll be so glad when the New Doctor starts
Fantastic job Crispy. One of your best videos for sure 🎉
Thank youuuuu
7:08 how are they doing these voices?
I would have loved if Dr Who COnfidential were still on to see all the BTS of Doctor Who FLUX in action it sounds crazy...Like I adore hearing about Matt Reeves on location for THE BATMAN and how that added to the intensity in the making of that film...I adore what JMS has said here and his info of how locations/styles were used and how they had to manage it all and think. The fact FLUX is my fave series of the show for YEARS speaks volumes and this just makes it all the more special. Would I have liked to have seen what Series 13 would have looked like pre-Pandemic had it not happened? Sure but Ed Hime was not a fave writer of mine, Wasn't keen on the Tesla episode. McTighe is ver yhit and miss also...but I would be intrigued how much Blackman would have expanded on mary Seacole if at all that were the case. I am ecstatic Alderton did return though with her 2/2 win/win! i do feel Vinder and Grand Serpant would have been expanded more upon had Series 13 continued and would have liked to have seen where Jo Martin's incarnation and the Master etc ma have gone had it gone the way ti did...but maybe we shall see elements of that in The Power of the Doctor? As that set up looks like part of a series in it's own right (which also makes me really nervous!) Any way credit where it is due for the team getting Jodie through these times - whilst it wasn't my fave era...they pushed a lot - FIrst female director/diverse cast and use of history/more call backs to classic era and expansions/change of timeslots/changes of power in Parliament multiple times/a worldwide pandemic/and a new head of state monarchy across 5 years! WOW!
I miss confidential!!
i just rewatched the Flux series again to see if i could understand it better. and i didn't :(
Awesome video,great job.
Thank you! Cheers!
weekly promise win! 🥳
love the new background! 🥳
Keeping up that weekly content!
i appreciate you! thank you for doing all the hard work for us. you’re awesome!
Crispy Pro for showrunner! Get busy young man! Excellent video.
Appreciate it Nessa
Series 13 might of just had Alice braga in it too as a villain
This is next level Crispy, but then again you are always innovating! #CrispyForShowrunner #FutureWhoWriter
Thank you!
Great vid! :)
Glad you enjoyed it
I would have loved to have seen what the weeping angels would have looked like without Flux
I'm just hoping that her final episode is really good
I'm sure Power of the Doctor will rule!
@@CrispyPro I really hope so
Hoping the viewing figures pick up
It's funny that actually watching this video, this is nowhere near on the same level as the missing season 23 or season 27 of the Classic series. This is essentially just a very few minor differences, with the episodes just kind of shifted around or stretched out.
Not gonna lie, I only realised till now that your channel banner kinda reminds me of colinfurze. Anyways, I only noticed on a rematch of the trailer that 15 painting have gone missing, and I wonder if it is a coincidence that there have been 15 incarnations of the Doctors second life after the timeless child doctors
Thanks for this video Crispy. Giving Flux the thanks and appreciation to the production team that brought us Doctor Who during those trying times.
10 outa 10 Bravo to them all
Bring on the RRD2 era....
It's my pleasure
The voices are on point ngl!
The Doctor Who series we never got. Is that a good one from Chibnall
Nice video!!
Thanks for the visit
Crispy Pro documentary maker and soon showrunner.
Thats my career progression!
who did jodie's Voice hahaha So funny
Call me crazy but what if the master regenerates into David Tennant and goes back to get donner as a twist to mess with the doctor. As for the meta crisis problem what if the master found a way around it random thought what you think
No
That was a really good video.
You are so kind
Power Of The Doctor October 23rd.
Random question, but are you related to the guys who run the Fairbairn Films channel? 🤔
No I’m just Australian 🤣
Fantastic video! Love a good Doctor Who video essay! 👏👏 #CrispyForShowrunner
Thank you James!
I’m also pretty sure juno dawson was supposed to write a story for series 13 too. She’s done doctor who redacted, the good doctor book and outside of doctor who she’s most known for her guides on being gay and trans and Her Majesty’s Royal Coven currently.
Oh really? Thats interesting!
Love your set.
Thank you! Hope to use it in the future
@@CrispyPro your welcome, I really enjoyed the video and hope you do more like it on the future.
Maybe what if Elizabeth Sladon hadn't unfortunately passed, what would have the rest of SJA looked like.
Quick! Someone talk to Big Finish about this!
Surely Legend of the Sea Devils would've still been by Ella Road and Chris Chibnall right? Only you don't mention her at all.
New photos show master holding miniature figures of companion's, everyone thinks he kills them (his shrink ray 🤣)
New theory: 5 Doctors time scoop anyone? might not be dead at all...
is chibnall that clever though
your welcome 🙂
love the channel bro!
❤️
Thank you!
interesting!
I think so too!
just gonna comment to push this in the algorithm, Doctor Who, Daleks
Legend thank you!
EXCELLENT !!!
#CrispyForShowrunner
🤙
Might as well just have cancelled it and save us the pain of going through it.
Should have just been S12 and then this upcoming regeneration
LOVE the accents!
There a bit of fun!
honestly, Doctor Who should have taken time off, I'm not saying it should be cancelled but a Hiatus to work out what needed to be done with the franchise after Chibnalls rather dismal couple of seasons would've very much helped. It may have been an effort toget Flux out, but it did not get out unscathed, the plot feels disjointed, and somehow managed to be too busy and dull at the same time.
Sometimes taking a year or two off is better than putting out a bad product. And the viewing figures plummeting after every first episode of the season kind of paint the same problem of retention This era has had with it's audience. I'd like to see Jodie get another chance at this with better writers and with new ideas, but now it'll only happen if she takes up the same Expanded universe stuff the other Doctors ended up getting.
i reckon the BBC will get their way and have it cancelled soon. its expensive, and not a costume drama
Idk man the show was going down before this series
#ChrispyForShowrunner
Been a fan since 1974 but gave up on the show after series 11 (which means I never saw Timeless Child). Every episode od series 1 bored me. Some of them I actually fell asleep watching. I look foward to RTD's return and, hopefully, the return of non-boring episodes. Also, as an American, I was disappointed how historically inaccurate Rosa was.
im sorry but jody as dr who ,im the biggest dr who fan but jody ,really ?smith ,tennant and what do we get this !!!
Omg, not you too... What is up with literally everyone on UA-cam filming themselves from two angles at the same time?
Oh really? First time I've really done multicam
I actually liked doctor who Flux
Looking back at Jodie's time on the show, I realised that there are some good stories in the minefield that is Chibnall's time running the show.
If it involves chibnall and whittaker it gonna suck
Honestly not a huge fan of the educational history tour style of the Chibnall era. Much rather go fight space Satan and the Ood, or take a tour of a diamond planet called midnight.
Chinballs would of screwed everything up even if covid didn't happen
Series 11 and 12 were both appallingly terrible. The Timeless Children could had got Doctor Who cancelled and killed Doctor Who for good.
chibnal is definately just a way to keep doctor who relevant, theres no other way to explain how they'd let such a pss poor writer write for multiple seasons
I feel sorry for Jodie Whittaker, Mandip Gill and Sacha Dhawan. Decent actors but let down by the horrible writing.
Lol because covid happen doctor who was bad?
... What? No because covid happened we got Eve of the Daleks.
@@carealoo744 nice one if I remember right but all in all she n the writer was horrible all seasons long . Even when the show was good she wasn't
they ruined it turning the doctor into a chick, the master to. whatever I'm not watching that garbage they can have it.
Doesn’t really matter the show still suck
Doctor Who hasn't been Doctor Who for several years now. It's some woke show. They might as well cancel it.
I'm so pleased none of it happened, nothing good was written under chibs era. It was all badly scripted, poorly acted, badly produced. Terrible stories. Chibs is the worst showrunner in Dr who history and whitticker the poorest Dr. No amount of even being woke could make it better. Even the woke shouldn't stand by it. It was abyssmal by any standards. Trying to defend chibs entire era based on his wokeness is a political point of view that overlooks how bad it all was and shouldn't be used to justify it or defend it. It was very poor again that has nothing to do with cov it has to do with lazy incoherent script's and stories that didn't respect the past. RTD is woke but even though chibs has nearly destroyed the franchise he may save it? Anyway the problem was chibs , Whittaker and how bad they were. Something could be woke and good but this wasn't. T
a show that should have been cancelled
‘Flux’, synonym for ‘diarrhea’ - very apposite for the ‘Chibbittaker’ era . . .
So you did not watch it then?
@@booradley8895 - what in my statement implied that I watched it? _I didn’t._
@@fletcherhamilton3177 So which was your best episode?
@@booradley8895 - in terms of alright (if highly derivative), storytelling as well as fairly creative artistic effects, _Resolution_ and _Revolution._ But I stopped watching the whole shebang after _Rosa_ - that anti-Caucasian male drivel was quite enough for me.
@@fletcherhamilton3177 Resolution and Revolution were AFTER Rosa so if you stopped watching how is this possible?
Really really dreadful writers. Dead franchise.
