Great video. Better to reuse and recycle or repair rather than dispose and replace. Very impressive rebuild. However afew concerns. 1) Once disassembled and cleaned he should have used the wire wheel on every component including the base. Or sand blast everything except the piston shaft. Then polish with the wire wheel and compound. Then he should have hung up all the individual componets on a wire then spray painted everything except the piston shaft. Then reassemble once components are dry and paint cured. Lastly it is not wise to apply any paint to the piston shaft. The piston needs to be left as a polished bare metal surface. Then lubed with oil. As the shaft goes up and down the paint will break apart and will wear out some of the seals prematurely and worst still paint chips can become stuck inside the bottle and contaminate the oil lubricant. This can lead to prematurely failure. And when it comes to bottle jacks prematurely failure can potentially cause death or serious injury.
Otherwise very good build. I too was impressed with how clean be is and how clean his wardrobes were throughout the entire process. Even his hands were pretty clean. He definitely is very skilled.

Not to mention that all the smaller components of that jack would be burned in that case. This guy reuses any component that can be reused and only changes the 2% that are broken. A concept the western world has lang abandoned due to the inconvienience involved. We rather throw a good condition washingmachine out then gat our hands dirty to change a 30cent belt in it.
Meanwhile the same people set ridiculous environmental goals and restrictions on companies, who serve no other purpose then pushing the responsibility for what they are doing away from them. Our society has failed, and we reached the point where even the slowest start to realize that.

Great craftsmanship, and there was a time in this country when we made products that could be rebuilt and reused before we became the land of aplenty so now it all goes to a landfill! Was there ever really a Sears and Roebucks? Or was it just a fantasy like Camelot on a hill?

These jacks are rated like 2,5,10,20 tones and so on. A while ago bought two 10 ton jacks. Tuev „certified”. CE sign on other shit. After first use and far away from 10 ton load, one started to leak and compressing back.
While its made like shit, it costs 20€. While you can't repair it desently for that price, it goes to scrap.
Thats called competition, but its not to increase quality, its for reducing price. Not many people will pay 50 € for jack, which will work for life, but many will pay 20.
