    Brilliant review. Really interesting history about the design. Love your insight about the calibre too.

    Good review! Now I'm really considering this one. Was always hesitant in the past, but I think now I will pull the trigger

      Fantastic! As I said, the lack of AR coating is its only downside and, if you can look past it, I believe you won't be disappointed. Just keep in mind that, just as with the SW200, the PT5000's winding is quite gritty, so don't be alarmed by it.

    Great review, mate! Thanks for highlighting this diamond in the rough.

    You made a good case for it. I'm not a traditionalist so I've been happy with a cheaper Addies Dive with Full lume on the inner and outer rings.

      Kudos to Addiesdive for being the only AliExpress brand to be featured on chrono24! I don’t personally own any of their watches, but people are raving about them. Still, having “dive” in your name renders you making a pilot watch somewhat funny 😄

    That's very interesting. I wonder how many have sold? Hardcore enthusiasts won't touch this thing I'm guessing, however the watch still looks great. I own two Lacos and love them. Thanks for the review.

      Definitely not a watch for the purists, especially when you can have an entry Laco Augsburg for only… double the price. This, however, I consider one of the few “hommages” that one can get away with as the model is what it is. The watch itself is one hell of a bargain, though, as it’s very well finished and, mine at least, keeps time within +1 to +4 seconds/day.

    It has been sold out for a while now. They still have the mecha-quartz and the 40mm chrono. I saw one review that took both this one and the vh31, and he complained about the blued hands on the newer version. That they are just plasticy, not heat-blued. I like Escapement Time. I've already bought the Grand Seiko clone in 40 mm and on it's way are two others in 35mm, as a gift for mom and sister. Thanks for your reviews.

      Thank you so much for your feedback! While it has been sold out before, I believe the issue this time might be related to the PT5000 being “discovered” in the last 6-8 months which drove many AE brands to using it for their watches which, in turn, led to shortages. To me this is actually proof that Escapement Time is not the commercial front for some en-masse manufacturer, but rather the one-man-operation some reviewers thought it is. From looking at the pictures alone I agree the mechaquartz variant’s hands don’t look like they’re actually blued and that’s really puzzling. For the King Seiko clomage I went with the Chameri and, while it’s a correctly executed watch, it did nothing for me so I moved it very quickly.

    I've had the Escapement Time for almost a year it feels like, love it, but not the band, changed that as soon as I got it

      @watchyawant  Рік тому +1

      I like the band a lot, I’d say it’s better than what many micro watches come with.

    The only reason i didn't get the Escapement Time version over the San Martin is the lack of AR coating ( oh and maybe that ET was 177$ and San Martin was 108$ )

    • @watchyawant
      @watchyawant  Рік тому +1

      The price difference is justified by the movement. - when it was in production ET's NH35 watch was available at pretty much the same price point. Still, good watches on their own merits.

      @@watchyawant movement is "better" yes but i like work horse type movements and from what i know pt5000 is not the work horse that nh35 is ( i own a seiko 5 with 7S36C and that thing is 10 years old and has seen A LOT of abuse ).

    • @watchyawant
      @watchyawant  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely, the NH35 is legendary. I was merely observing the PT5000, like all 4 Hz movements, is more expensive. As you said, in the end it's a matter of personal preference and I just love the smooth sweeping of the second hand especially on this type of configuration where it's amplified by the size and the look of the dial.

      Amongst fliegers, this is actually a rather modest size, but there are brands out ther selling Type Bs as small as 38.

      @@watchyawant Si, questo è vero. Purtroppo non hanno il movimento PT5000...il quadrante più piccolo è il 40mm (che in realtà è un 40,5).
