Me being Dutch, I am stunned by your pronounciation of 'Sinterklaas' !! You did your homework! The history of Sinterklaas goes back a LOT further though, he was an actual saint that lived in Turkey. On each of his birthdays, he spread his wealth with children that didn't have even a toy to play with. After his death, the Turkish started to replicate his annual behavior by dressing up and handing out gifts. During a war between the Turkish and Spanish, opposite sides started to talk without fighting, and the tradition spread to Spain... To this day, Spain is still the place where Sinterklaas lives to any Dutch person you ask. Unproven rumours are that the Vikings picked up on this tradition as well, and took it home because they liked it. There you have it, Santa was born and lives on the North Pole ever since. Lapland to be precise. Merry Christmas from me to you and the team!!!
Bram, you left out the part about Sinterclaus' helper, the mohammaden slaver who follows him with a sack to kidnap the bad boys and girls and sale as slaves in Muslim Spain!
Here we have "Sinterklaas" on the 6th of december and christmas on the 25th of december. Merry christmas to you and all of the Arizona Ghostriders and the Pistoleros! 🎄
It's nice to see snooties re-enacting what really was the wild west between 1855 to 1900, although I think your UA-cam videos are excellent, and nice to see snoots playing thier parts. It will be nice to do a show about the Pinkertons and locomotive trips 😀 Say hello to all the angels playing thier parts in these videos.
Merry Christmas Santee and all the Arizona GhostRiders. I've been watching your videos for sometime now. Learned alot about their old west and the customs and traditions. Thanks for keeping the memories of the old west alive today in the 21st century. I was deeply saddened and disturbed at learning that Santee doesn't believe in Santa Claus. My parents told me as a young boy, when you stop believing in Santa Claus, he will stop visiting you on Christmas Eve. I'm 67 years old and I still believe in Santa Claus.
70 years old, and, there are things I never new about the Old West, thanks so much for spending some Christmas with us Santee, always enjoy yer videos,,,look forward to 'em !!
Merry Christmas to Santee and all the Arizona GhostRiders. I'm 65 years old and I still believe in Santa Claus. I was told as a small boy, "When you stop believing in Santa Claus, he stops visiting your house. I've now become a Santa's Helper. Because I've believed all these years, he still stops by my house every Christmas Eve. Again I wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas.
Ah! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you Santee, and your family and friends. Didn't know you got Bill a gift. I got him something too.... the last bottle of your whiskey. 😁
One of my favourite historical moments of my family ancestors, happened before civil when the family elder dressed up as "saint Nicholas" and handed out wooden toys to the boys at a garrison around Bear Mountain Utah. During the Civil. The elder who played Saint Nicholas, was on the Confederate side. He never played the part again, due to be a wanted man, later died from a bullet wound from an outlaw/deserter of the Federal Army around 1860s, protecting his son and his dads German Shepard, somewhere in Kansas.
Hi there, my family history telling doesn't use thier names, just the family position, information I have in information is a surname was "Fehr" but I cannot confirm it, he was found by his son who ran away from a garrison with a dog, looking for his grandfather. He was directed to Kentucky Mountain range where he was in hiding there with his oldest son. According to the boys name is "Joshua" but I cannot confirm it, but at this time according to what I have been told. His grandfather travelled from Kentucky to Kansas, when he was attacked while driving a chuck wagon, if you could find out any more information it will be helpful. But eventually the remaining family split into two fractions, one side stayed in USA, other travelled to South Melbourne Port in Victoria Australia.
Great history on Nast. His illustrations had a major influence on a lot of things in American history. I would love to visit his grave, home and museum. Merry Christmas Santee!
I remember when I first began watching these a few years ago, and sitting up at work on saturday morning, working xmas and feeling happy to watch and laugh at your videos. Happy Holidays everyone.
Hey Santee, were you in Tombstone yesterday? Because I noticed somebody with a short hair cut and a mustache. Wearing a western suit, but it was covered in a shaded dark dirt.
Hello Santee! Great video as usual! By the way, in the Little House book, "On The Banks Of Plum Creek" Laura Ingalls also saw a Christmas tree for the first time at a church service. Thank you for keeping the spirit of the Old West alive and kickin' each week! To you and your family and everyone at Arizona Ghostriders and to all reading this post, may you have a beautiful and blessed Christmas and a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!
I visited the Ingall's homestead just outside Walnut Grove, MN several years ago and could stand on Table Rock outside the dugout house they first lived in. It was the same house little Laura saw Mr. Edwards, nearly frozen after falling in the creek on his way to Christmas dinner while bringing gifts from Santa to the children. Laura and Mary had a wonderful Christmas getting a peppermint stick and red knitted woolen mittens. Oh...the memories... 🧑🎄☃️🎄
Have a Merry Christmas, Santee and friends. I always enjoy your videos. Not only are they interesting and entertaining, including your visuals, but I always leave having learned some things I never knew before, about that part of our country's past.👏🎅👏 Thank you....Congrats to Skip. Wear it well.🤠🌞
Merry Christmas Santee, your whole family, and all of the crew! This was another great video and history lesson. I never knew about the influence of Thomas Nast on the image of Santa and I teach his cartoons for the whole first semester! This was very entertaining as well and I got quite a few laughs (out loud!) Have a Happy New Year as well!
Great video Santee! High quality as usual, I was wondering if you could do a video about casts or broken bones in the old west! I recently broke my leg and It got me wondering!
Merry Christmas to you and your extended family of Arizona Ghostriders. Thanks for a wonderful video, and I just bought a newer book of The Night Before Christmas with the original drawings. You really can see how Clement Moore and Father Christmas from England influenced are Holiday Traditions. One last point, I believe Charles Dicken's Christmas Carol also influenced somewhat of our Traditional Christmas ways. Thanks again for sharing this wonderful story.
Merry Christmas! I got a replica of a original Colt Peacemaker from the Old West! it is made of medal, the grip is out of wood and it looks and functions just like a real Peacemaker! Of course it can't shoot tho, but i love it still :)
I love your videos! They got me interested in living the west. I have done period recreation through the sca but it’s medieval. Thanks for all the awesome videos.

Hey, Merry Christmas, and a happy New Year to you. I got a new Dixie Arms catalog the other day. In it, they said that there were around 11 thousand open top Colt pistols made between 1872 and 1877. Thats a hunk of guns. Id believe most went west, and were sold to cowboys, outlaws, and whoever wanted a cartridge Colt, but couldnt afford the price of a Peace maker. Id guess at least 8000 of those guns went west. Thats alot not to be hearing more of their use, AND of not being used in early, at least westerns, Whats yer thoughts? Mild Bill. PS. Ive seen a pic of reputed New Mexico rustlers holding them.
I wrote the comment before you got to the hat winner. When you said Skip, and hesitated due to interruption from Dirty Dan, I had my fingers crossed...then you said Skip Williams and I almost fell out of my chair. Thank you so much. I will contact you on facebook. You sure gave me a very Merry Christmas. Skip

Not sure what a snootie is, but thanks for watching and learning.
All jokes aside, it nice to see how my ancestors lived from Civil War to 1890. It certainly influenced how Australians behaved around the time also.
