My dad wants me to detail his interior but his carpet is literal mountains of hardened salt. Would I still be able to use the 50/50 water vinegar mix or would I have to use something a lot stronger? I do have the Super Clean degreaser but I just don’t know how to properly dilute it for carpet use.
I learned a lot of very useful tips for the interior for salt removal here. Thanks pan & Isabel, much appreciated.
Great to hear! Isabelle sure did a great job!
Great colab with you and Isabelle! Very timely video as well. Thank you!
Thanks!
Perfect perfect timing my friend!
I love how you give probs to other youtube detailers!!
Heheh thanks!
Great video! It is good to see how the average person does the job and I will say, she did a great job!! I use a large black trash can bag (cut to fit around pedals) and place it under the floormat for added protection. In the Chicago area, they use road salt of high strength to melt the snow and it does impact the carpet and floormats. This bag idea really helps to keep the carpet clean and it is very inexpensive.
Totally a perfect video for the cold weather months. Thank you Pan
Glad you liked it!
@@PanTheOrganizer what would You use for chassis ? Vinegar good ?
Good show Pan!! Isabelle did work very hard to have her car cleaned!! Thanks for the tips and well done!! Frank
Thanks! Yes I was quite proud of her! :)
Just what I was waiting for. Thanks Pan!
Hope you enjoyed!
@@PanTheOrganizer I did. Thanks. Have you used the tornador? I would love to see you reviewing it or making a tutorial with it
Thumb up to Isabelle since she did 99% of the work 😁
Excellent timing for our Canadian winter.
Encore et encore d'autres produits/outils a ajouter dans ma "wish list" d'achat.
Yeah I like teaching her how to take care of her ride. :)
My boyfriend has been detailing for 8 years and we finally decided to go out on our own. This is so helpful thank you! The one salt remover we have been using, SUCKS.
Thanks Pan, another great video.
Thanks! I appreciate it.
What a paaaaaaaaantastic tutorial.. luckily here in sunny California.... we don't deal with road salt.... unless you drive to the Sierra mountains ⛰
Thank you Pan and Isabella, great instructional video. Can't wait to try this next month on our SUV
Thanks Scott! I’ll pass on the kind feedback to Isabelle.
Fantastic tutorial Pan! Now I need to go and get one of those carpet exctractors for myself! Such a great device for interior cleaning!
Thanks Konsta! Yeah it's a great little tool and it's not 1000$ like most higher end extractors. Perfect for DIY home use.
@@PanTheOrganizer Exactly!
Love my WeatherTek floor liner protectors for Chicago winters.
I have always had WeatherTech mats in my cars too, and yup I love them.
Woo Hoo just bought the same model extractor you did, happy to see I made a good choice!
Those things work surprisingly well for their cost and size. I have a bigger extractor but end up using the Bissell often because how convenient it is.
Spills!!!, 😂 great video Pan, have been thinking about that carpet extractor, good they have a new version now.
Thanks 👍
Thanks for the video. Great tips 😊
You are so welcome!
Very informative Pan will be doing this from now on. Your Girl friend did an amazing job on the carpets.
Thanks Tom!
There's something emminently satisfying at the end of any cleaning/detailing job, no matter how simple or complex they may be. 👍
I agree!
Great informative video and great tips here! Also loved the little blooper when you couldn’t get the words out! Haha.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Boy, did I ever need to see this video Pan. I tried salt eraser from Canadian Tire, but didn’t do half the job your sweetheart managed to do. Tomorrow I’m going to try hot water and vinegar as you suggest. Thanks for all the tips and tricks. 🇨🇦🤞
Boiling vinegar, a bit of dwell time, and a carpet brush and elbow grease usually takes care of most calcium, assuming it hasn’t been left there for so long where it burns the carpet fibers.
Very useful information! Lots of people having this problem!
👍🏻
I'm in Montreal too Pan, and this salt they use here is always hard to take out! appreciate the vid!
Tell me about it Mike! I hate winter!! HAHA
Une prochaine vidéo avec Mike de detail geek un c’est jour .. super boulot Pan
Excellent tips, very helpful, thanks :-)
Thanks!
Hey Pan, thanks for the midweek video drop :) I'm wondering what is the expected durability for fabric protectants? How long would you expect them to last on high traffic areas like the driver's seat and footwell?
That's hard to know, as I haven't seen any durability testing or real claims. But once every 6 months is not a bad idea.
Useful information for specially coastal area people
Thanks a lot
Just sprayed the rug down and it worked! Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Had a numatic George for extraction originally but could only do flat areas due to cumbersome trigger, decided after watching mitch the detail geek use his and its a game changer ,I think pan you'll be pleased with your new purchase and the girlfriend did a great job too .
Thanks Paul! Yeah it has been working great so far, for the price, it's a no brainer.

Hi Pan, isobel did a great job and the bissell carpet cleaner is a great bit of kit.👍👍👍👍
Yeah it will come in handy. Isabelle did a great job! :)
Excellent DIY carpet cleaning tips. I personally don’t have that Bissell fancy cleaning machine, but I do have a 5 gl dry/wet vac (clearly not the same machine at all, but I’ll try to work with what I have handy). I’ll keep you post it, if it worked for me. Thanks you as always.
Thanks for watching!
Great video again!! I'll be using that carpet cleaner for the first time tomorrow as it was just on sale at Canadian tire!!
Thanks Sean!
I was wondering if you and The Detail Geek were friends! Love it
Heheh thanks! We talk every now and then by e-mail, but have never met in person yet. I proposed that we do a collab together, but I guess he's too busy. Thanks Pan. I have a Model Y could i use the brush and all purpose cleaner on the Model Y. Would you be able to do a Telsa Model Y cleaning and protecting video?😁
Rubber mats year round. Almost every car manufacturer offers them. It's the first thing I replaced on my Audi.
Those are just horrible , its like those bumper/hood protectors
@@GuiTheBest889 no way, get quality mats made specifically for your car. Rubber mats are fantastic, if you have to deal with snow and salt.
thats what we do in Poland, rubber mats for winter, carpet mats for summer :)
@@scottmattern482 i live in Portugal so i just have some rain most rubber mats i see here are just horrible.
And if you go to put gas on a rainy day and step on some splided diesel its the worst, at least with normal mats i can clean MT shoes on them
Yeah my girlfriend has her rubber mats (WeatherTech) all year round, but is not as careful as us car detailing nuts. Case in point, there was overspill on her carpets haha.
I picked up scotch guard but it looks like the 303 fabric protect makes less of a mess and less over spray

At last you start what im waiting for . However I wish to see more dedicate product from some producer like chemicalguys, carpro or any others. How they work and which one you recommend it most. Vinegar even use 50/50 can easily discolor the carpets. I have such isue not once why i try to avoid to use vinegar inside the car
That works well, thanks
You're welcome! Welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on UA-cam as we surpassed 1 million subscribers and we have over 135 million views! I have been detailing for 27 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers.
You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing.
I enjoyed the video ! The steps to clean the carpet are clearly presented and well-organized. I remember that your brother's previous car had salt stains on the carpet and I wondered what to do about it but, at the time, the focus was on your brother washing the exterior of his car. Of course, now he has a new car. We don't have the salt issue here in Florida so I am unfamiliar with the problem. I was surprised to learn that the salt "burns" the carpet fibers. If you don't use protective mats or have over-spillage, how often must you attend to salt stains on the carpet to avoid the damage becoming permanent?
Thanks Margaret! Doing regular maintenance once a month on the interior is key to keep a car looking like new. That’s what I do. In fact I shared my monthly interior detailing routine in this video:
ua-cam.com/video/TV1_qdOCy-w/v-deo.html
Great video Pan! When you use the extractor, do you use the specific Bissell solution, or do you use another type of fabric solution? Thanks!
I use the Bissell solution.
Love the channel
Thanks for your support Joel!
Hi pan hope your well just seen video the last bit that was funny an great. Good one pan. Stewart
Haha thanks! 👍🏻
What carpet brush did you use at the end to make the racing stripes ?
Nice job by Isabella! For your wash steps, I would highly recommend a fresh water rinse. In my experience, the residue left behind by the wash will attract dirt like a magnet. After a fresh water rinse and fabric protectant, they will stay clean for much longer :)
👍🏻👍🏻 You mean clean with a fabric cleaner and drill brush, then use extractor with cleaning solution, then use extractor again but with clean water for the final pass?
@@PanTheOrganizer Yes, I've done that for the carpet in the car or I use the power washer with the wide nozzle to rinse out all the remaining dirt and chemicals from the floor mats then use the extractor to remove the excess water. Thank you!
Nice une vidéo qui va m’être utile pour ce temps si de l’année ça va faire du bien à mes tapis 👌🏻👌🏻 bien cool qu’Isabelle es participer lâchez pas vous êtes les meilleur ✌🏼

Hey Pan, new to your channel! I’m just now getting into detailing and had a few questions. Do you use a clear bra on your vehicles to prevent rock chips? Do waxes/sealants work with a clear bra on the front of your vehicle? Thanks for all the great content!
Hi Justin! Welcome to the Pan The Organizer family if you considered subscribing. You discovered one of the biggest and fastest growing car detailing channels on UA-cam as we're approaching 600,000 subscribers and 70 million views! :)
To answer your question, I don't like the look or feel of paint protection film (PPF, also known as clear bra). Also, I don't do much mileage in a year and get a brand new car every three years, so stone chip and scratch protection isn't a concern of mine. But if someone drives a lot, especially on highways, keeps their car long term, and wants ultimate stone chip and scratch protection, then PPF is the only solution. Of course, on top of that, I would still recommend a ceramic coating for UV protection, slickness, gloss, easier maintenance washes, protection against tree sap, bird droppings, industrial fallout, acid rain, etc.
Waxes and sealants are good too, but don't last nearly as long as true ceramic coatings. I have a super popular video explaining the differences between waxes, sealants and coatings here: ua-cam.com/video/Yxz3zSVIm-g/v-deo.html
Hey pan would p&s terminator and carpet bomber replace the vinigar or would you use the vinigar after terminator and carpet bomber then use vinigar then finisher?
Awesome video! Is the vinegar/ water okay to use on plastic as well or is the boiling water going to cause the plastic to fade? If not will a regular APC get salt off the plastic?
Un gros bravo à Isabelle The Organizer 👌👌
Excellent tuto et très utile en cette saison ✌️🤘
D’ailleurs une question bête me vient à l’esprit.
Dr. Beasley's Salt Chisel works exceptionally well and may get rid of those left over stains.
Great video. I live in Pennsylvania. Perfect timing. Could you use a fabric dye to get the carpet stains covered after the cleaning? And then great for protection. Thank you. 👍👍
Thanks Greg! I'm not a fabric expert so I'm not sure about the dye question though.
Hoping that the weathertech floor liners I bought will stop most of the damage, but being 10° out can't really get out there and do anything, oh for a garage like yours, lol. Thanks for the video, so how was it to NOT be doing the detailing. Awsome job AGAIN. THANK YOU.
It felt good to take a back seat and just film someone else for once! haaahah
Hey Pan,
Great video! I know this was posted over 2 years ago but was wondering if the vinegar leaves any bad odors in the car? If so, would other interior cleaners cover up the smell?
Thanks!
The vinegar odor disappears after a day or two.
Hey Pan, awesome video as always and thank you for your upkeep of the quality of your content!
Do you have any videos regarding cleaning stained cloth/stained seats and what extractor do you recommend for them?
Cheers!!
Same extractor I used in this video is good for all the interior fabrics, carpets and carpeted floor mats. You would use a pre-treat solution that you spray on the fabric, like an upholstery cleaner, and then use the drill brush attachment to agitate, and then you use the carpet extractor.
@@PanTheOrganizer That's awesome Pan. Thanks much for your time and reply! Looking forward to your next show! Cheers!

One question: do you recommend DIY ceramic coating without a garage? I don’t have access to one :(
Thanks Tyson! You can certainly apply a ceramic coating even if you don't have a garage. You simply must make sure it won't rain for 24 hours after the application, and don't work in direct sunlight. Work in the shade, on a cool surface.

Hey pan, could you do a video in regards to salt? Is it beneficial to spray the salt off even if you aren’t going to wash? What’s the best way to neutralize salt? How do you go about undercarriage cleaning? I know you are in Canada- finding a car littered with salt shouldn’t be too hard to find, especially on a black car. Even when I wash my moms black car, the remaining water around trim and panels that is not completely removed seems to drip and my work looks better, but not perfect like your audience strives for. I know I’m not the only viewer with this issue….

Yeah the newer blue handle model isn’t available everywhere yet. But there doesn’t seem to be any major differences so don’t overthink it.
It's really perfect video! Please more like this ! There is only water or some APC in the extractor vacuum cleaner and in which dilution ratio ? Regards from Croatia !
Thanks! In the extractor tank, I just used the carpet cleaning solution that came with it. They tell you the dilution on the bottle.
That extractor has been in my list four a while now. But maybe I missed this, what cleaning solution to you use/recommend in the extractor? Or do you recommend just using hot water in the extractor and come in behind using the drill brush and APC on the carpet? Also, it would be great to see a cleaning video where you tackle cloth seats (or cloth/leather seats like you see in some higher end cars). Keep up the great vids!
As I’m still learning the ropes with the extractor, I’m using the cleaning solution that came with it. Works great so far.

Hey Pan, how can i remove calcium chloride stains in my concrete driveway?
Thanks for the Video Pan. Does the extractor heat up the water or you have to put in hot water yourself?
At this price, you have to put warm water in the tank. If you want a heated extractor like a Mytee for professional use, the cost goes up dramatically.
very good Pan...there ya go eh! consider adding a few drops of Tea Tree oil or your favorite essential oils in your 50/50 mix (helps minimize the vinegar aroma)
Good tip!
Hey Pan can i mix p&s termminator & carpet bomber together ?
I wouldn't do that.
Question of the day: do you use ugly rubber mats but keep your carpet clean, or use the nice carpet mats that need washing every year?
Thanks for the great tutorial. I picked up a bunch of good tips. Carpets always look cleaner than they really are. I find you can run the carpet cleaner three times and still pull that dark sludge out. I beat my dry mats until they stop dusting, then wash them in a sink a couple of times.
Pan! How do we get THAT extractor your link pulls up the original :(
It seems to be only available in Canada at the moment. So you can try the Canadian link and see if it ships to USA.

Pan, is there a cordless extractor version you can recommend for my Audi thanks
I don't think I have seen a cordless extractor yet.
@@PanTheOrganizer Thank you appreciate it.
It always amazes me what the extractor can remove AFTER you think the carpets and upholstery is already clean. It's crazy. What I have been doing lately is spraying the surface with the cleaning product first, agitating with the required brushes, then extracting out the solution with just plain hot water. I learned that after watching some Colourlock videos and a couple carpet cleaning companies. They said the final "extraction" should just be plain hot water. I had no idea. I had been injecting the chemical straight into the fabric using the extractor and then sucking it right back out thinking that was totally fine. And pretty much it was. I never really noticed any difference to be honest. But it supposedly gets the cleaning product out better if you just use plain hot water at the end to extract and keeps the fabric fibers from re-attracting dirt at a later time. That's the PRIMARY benefit of just using PLAIN HOT WATER at the end to extract. The fibers will be clean and cleaning product free and it won't RE-ATTRACT dirt. Again, I had no idea over the 30+ years i've been using an extractor on my interior fabrics. Another thing I do is usually mist a light mist of P&S Peroxide Finisher at the end (before I coat it with Gtechniq Smart Fabric) to neutralize any remaining product that may not have been extracted or if I do not use an extractor and just spot clean, I spritz a little P&S Finisher over the area to neutralize the cleaning agent and bring the PH level back to normal. It may be overkill but it seems to work pretty good for me.
Those are some useful tips Joe!
Here in Canada, we get more salt build up than you are showing, however it looks that what you show here could do the trick for us Pan, Thanks..
I am from Montreal by the way ;)
@@PanTheOrganizer Yeah, sorry about that, I realized after I sent it.
Pan is the man
:)
@@PanTheOrganizer what was that number 😅😅
It seems somebody has hacked into my account! I'm working on it with UA-cam representatives.
@@PanTheOrganizer good luck
Pan I have a suggestion I'd like to share with you and all of your subscribers please. I use a Rigid 5hp Portable Vac with an approximate 5-6 foot vinyl hose. I took a bunch of old dress socks cut a hole in the toes and slipped them onto the hose with enough to slightly overlap each one untill the entire hose is covered. I find this dramatically reduces potential scratching on the door jams when I get inside the vehicle and as I most often wear short pants it definitely cuts down on skin chaff when the hose rubs against my legs. A hose sock if you will... Simple - inexpensive - effective. Hope you find it useful. Thx!
Good tip Audie.
Any thoughts on the bissel compared to the entry level mytee?
I haven’t tried Mytee. But those are more expensive and more geared towards professionals. That’s my understanding. The Bissell is a home DIY value unit.
Isabelle the organizer did a great job. We're the stains left behind permanent?
Some of them were left unattended for too long and did burn the carpet fibers in some places yes. But overall, what a great improvement. :)
Hey Pan, what is the difference with the new model Bissell vs the previous?
I have no idea unfortunately. They don't say much on the Bissell website. I'm sure they're very similar. The brush is different, and they say "our most powerful portable cleaner yet" for the new model, that only seems available in Canada for now (see links in the description).
On Amazon.ca it looks like there is two versions. Bissell 3624C SpotClean Professional (original) $149.99. Bissell 2891B SpotClean Professional (Premier) goes for $199.99. Looks like premier comes with an extra trial formula, but that's all I can notice. I just got the original to try in the spring.
