This video is a Seminary on Trumpet design. Excellent presentation.... this guy sound genuine, unpretentious and he really knows his craft. The Solo Jazz Trumpet took the show.

@@lotustrumpets6739 thanks for the feedback. I went to know more about “this guy” (I didn’t know anything about him!), after I saw the video... I feel pretty bad. Rapa is maybe a Top Ten trumpet designer and a virtuoso player. We all learn every day!

Thank you for all your videos, om starting to realize how much harder I work just to fight against my horn, I still love my horn, but if I get a new one I'll definitely be more strict about what I am accepting of.

That's what Adam wants for everyone. Doesn't have to be a LOTUS (we would love if it were;) but it must be something that plays in tune as much as possible. A LOTUS mouthpiece is a much cheaper way to help your current trumpet a lot.

I'd love to see a split screen with the same player playing the same phrase at the same volume but on different horns and mouthpiece combos. So you can hear one and then immediately the other to do an A/B comparison. Instead of playing one, then talking to me about how different the next one will sound before playing the next one.
This is a great video, but it is hard to compare subtle differences in tonal quality if you can't directly A/B compare the examples.
    Love your playing Adam!

I love the solo model with the nickel tuning slide and I can't wait until they become available so that I can purchase one someday!

@@lotustrumpets6739 what is the bell material that you settled on for the Solo model?
The video looks like yellow brass, but I’ve heard that some new Solo models are using copper bells.
      Which material do you recommend?

@@ericmpena The Solo model got a Copper/Bronze bell after several more rounds of R&D. That's the material combination that won the tests. You're right, in this video the horn has a Brass/Bronze bell, since it's the first prototype we made.

Adam Rapa is in my top 10 favorite trumpet players, but I know he is just trying to sell horns and make money- and who can blame him. I'm sure his horns are great, but dude....it's so hard not to question some of the smoke being blown. I wonder how many of these people will take out a loan to spend 5K-7K on a trumpet that they would sound the same on by spending 1K-2K on a great used horn.

    • @seth094978

Oh no, 5-7K? That's like Chinese tuba money. Or maybe a middle schooler's cello. Or like a Yamaha upright piano. Can't be spending that kind of money on a musical instrument! God forbid!

I think I don't like bronze in bells. I don't think I've ever heard one horn with a bronze bell that sounded better than a similar one in yellow or gold brass. It has a sort of fake depth that reminds me of Eb tubas with those massive 19" or 20" bells that are trying and failing to have the depth of a big CC or BBb. It's a trumpet! Let it sound lively like it's supposed to!
