Since the start of last year Shakir has caught 53 of 59 targets, a 90% completion rate to a WR is just flat out insane over a 20 game stretch.
So far through 3 games the Bills top five players in terms of targets have caught 41 of 48 targets for 465 yards and 5 TDs. Really the only skill position player that has felt like a square peg in a round hole in this offense is MVS.
Yeah MVS has been quiet so far, but I think they’re still scratching the surface with him
It was interesting to hear Aaron Rodgers talk about Josh Allen and his play this year on Pat McAfee. Normally turned off by the dude, but he had some great insight and really spotlighted the problem with 'alpha' (aka 'diva') wide receivers - directly correlating to the Allen/Diggs duo the past several years and why it flamed out. He said it's very important to build a rapport with a true WR1 and critical to make sure to tow that balance between working within the system and getting him the ball enough. It sounded like making sure the WR1 is satisfied with his target share was definitely an added responsibility on top of other responsibilities that a qb has. That's not shocking, but he made it clear that the relationship is completely broken down when one 'shows up' the other on the sideline in the public eye, and that is something that is often irreparable.
