    I had PRK done in October last year and I see 20/15 now 😁 no dry eye, no hazy/double vision. Best decision ever. Even though I actually developed a small infection in my left eye and they had to remove the contact earlier than planned. It healed though and that time of misery was worth a longer time of happiness with my new eyes 👀🙏🏼

    PRK recipient here. And Mark is someone to help me decide to get it done all those years ago!
    I just had my eyes tested for my job again (I drive for a living). I have 20/25 still after 11 years!!! I have a similar experience of when not being hydrated eyes get dry and stick to eyelids and vision is optimal when I am hydrated. My night vision is good. But when I pick up passengers sometimes (I don't still see halos) the contrast between light and dark is really obscured facing a traffic light and on a dark corner though.
    The reason I use punctuation when I'm typing is I don't like reading big blocks of comments (working on my grammar). I feel like I strain my eyes too much when someone try's to convey an idea in a big BLOCK-Y form. I usually skip reading it (no need to diminish my vision further for someone nearly pushing 50). My near sighted vision is good and again is dependent of how hydrated I am.
    So far so good!

    Re: Lasik, I have read reports that cells have a tendency to repopulate the interface between the flap and remaining cornea, causing the return of nearsightedness. Greater the correction greater the risk of this happening. Short term pain but it could be argued that PRK is the better choice for long term stability

    • @user-of4lq6sz1c
      @user-of4lq6sz1c Рік тому

      There is no medical paper states that cell regrow between the flap and remaining cornea, but there are medical proof that in PRK it does not penerate well on high myopia on conea and a number is left often. As well as conea become thin which regression occurs leaving a number after years too.

    Concerning your wife's lasik, I read that they (eye doctors) are finding that in some people, the body trys to 'heal' by regrowing or repopulating tissue under the flap that was removed during lasik which is why nearsightedness returns

    • @user-of4lq6sz1c
      @user-of4lq6sz1c Рік тому

      There is not medical paper on that, The vision is corrected by removing (vaporizing) tissue with an excimer laser and the flap is replaced. Over time, there is scarring at the edge of the flap but very limited scarring underneath the flap. But there are medical proof that in PRK it does not penerate well on high myopia on conea and a number is left often. As well as conea become thin which regression occurs leaving a number after years too.

    Thanks for sharing !
    I would like to share mine because I will soon go for another « touch up » procedure. I had my Lasik done in 1998, in Bangkok, one of the international class hospital. I was 29 years old with -300 right eye and -250 left eye. The operation went very well both pre & post op. Magical changed of life !
    Happy life lasted 20 years since!
    From age of 49 years old I started noticing my far eyesight dropped bit by bit until now I’m 52 years my presbyte appeared.
    Currently I live in France. My ophthalmologist evaluated my situation. Firstly, he commented that my Lasik done 20 years ago in Bangkok was excellent job since he doesn’t see any trace in my corneas. But he has to propose me in the upcoming “touch up” surgery, PRK for my left eye due to the thickness of cornea is not thick enough for another time of cutting. While my right eye is still OK for Lasik. He will apply a Monovision principal in my operation.
    I’m looking forward to it.

Tout s'est parfaitement passé. Mon œil D gère la vue loin. Mon oeul G gère la vue près. Ça m'a pris 2 mois environs pour que les 2 yeux (plus précisément mon cerveau) s'adaptent Monovision.

    I have a corneal thickness of 530 microns for both eyes (-6.5 for both eyes and a slight astigmatism on left eye) and the doc said I can go through PRK or even LASIK, but after looking at some videos and interviews all of them are talking about LASIK complications and how it can affect again long term as more corneal tissue is removed when compared to PRK. But PRK has more recovery time and they said it will be 2 weeks but after watching this video and some others who got PRK seem perfectly fine after just a week. My PRK surgery is scheduled on March 28th and I am traveling (to Sydney - 26h flight) on April 20th. So I have the following questions:
    1) A little bit confused still whether to go for PRK or LASIK! Can anyone suggest?
    2) Just want to know how much do you depend on climatic conditions and on your ophthalmologist?
    3) Is there any redness?

    Had my LASIK 10 years ago. Wondered in here Googling results if anyone had regrets. I see blurrier almost like you said, 10-15 percent, close up and from a far. But not all the time for some reason. There are days when I have 10/10 vision, there are days when it's 8.7/10. And the funny thing is, when I go check them up every 2 years, I have no + nor - and no need for any lenses or contacts which is weird to me, but ok. Dry eyes are pretty standard since they've warned me I had that problem even before the surgery (blond hair, blue eyes, fair skin tend to have drier eyes by default).

    I am eligible for PRK, however i was wondering what your prescription was? Also were you stable for at least a year before you had it done? My eyes have slowly gotten worse and worse each year and could still be getting a little worse. Would you still have had it done if you were not stable for a year?

    • @MarkAllan
      @MarkAllan  6 років тому +1

      Alessandro Di Martino I never considered stability when getting mine done. I think you are over complicating things. Let the doctor decide if that’s an issue or not. You’re not trained to make that call but he or she is. Just go see a professional and discuss with them.

      My friend, listen to what I will tell you. Myopia is an adaptation for near work, the eye grows longer because near work(computer, books) puts light behind the retina, so to avoid ciliary muscle contracting for too long, an anti natural thing, the eye adapts itself, and the back of the eye, where the retina is, grows to where the light is focusing.
      You eyes are getting worse because you are doing the same thing over and over again, after 21 years you have less growth hormone, but you still have enough to your eyes to keep growing if you continue to do the same thing.
      You have to use your full prescription to distance vision only, when you are on the cell phone, computer or reading a book you have to simulate a distance vision by going without glasses, or with a plus lenses glass, that depends on your diopter status and the distance you are to the computer screen. The goal is to prevent accomodation, the contraction of the ciliary muscle that happens in normal eyes when you see anything behind 6 meters of distance. Search for Todd Beckers lecture here on youtube, print pushing, to understand what you have to do to stop this madness.
      These ignorance led me to -7 diopters, after learning why I have got to that I was able to reduce 0.75 diopters aplying this knowledge, dont know if its possible to reduce more, what I am talking is prevention. Do what I am telling you, just dont do stupid eye rolling exercises, and dont give money to any eye guru.

    I get dry eye once in a while, don't strain your eyes it's not really age just straining your eyes, one my aunts is 91 and my other aunt is in her 80s and they have 20/20 so don't believe it's age eyes need a lot of rest. I guess my aunts are not pinned to TV or laptops or any eye stressing. My mom has glasses and she watches a lot of TV. I have had family members that have past away at old age and never had glasses. Just like myself i am 47 and don't need reading glasses but some of my cousins that are younger need reading glasses it's not age just don't stress your eyes it's a muscle.

    • @MarkAllan
      @MarkAllan  6 років тому +3

      Fernando Salas the need for reading glasses comes from hardening of the lens in your eye. Lense hardening is age related and has nothing to do with muscles. It’s great if your family has less of a problem with that than others but I’d attribute it to genetics not TV.
