- Kirtan Fi Sikh Music Podcast Episode 4 - Sangat Ji in this podcast episode, we converse about the Akhand Kirtani Jatha with Bhai Jujar Singh Ji & Bhai Kamaljt Singh Ji. Bhai Jujhar Singh Ji is the great grandson of Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Ji, who is known as the founder of the Akhand Kirtan Jatha. We touch briefly on Bhai Sahibs Jeevan, how it all started, the musicality of the Akhand Kirtan style and more generally the Jatha in more depth in the past all the way to today.
Upon reflection, what I most appreciated about this conversation was the willingness to share the story of the Jatha and be open to conversation on some of the misconceptions I have certainly heard about the jatha on my journey so far, as well as the unique musicality of the Jatha Kirtan and the understanding of the Khalsa Panth as a diverse multi-jathebandi Dharam.
Albeit each Jathebandi has many great virtues (gunn) who all provide a unique service to the Panth in their own unique and beautiful way. We mustn’t forget that the one thing that keeps us together is the Guru - Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj.
I feel this conversation presents a sincere undertone for panthic oneness and prosperity and I trust you will probably feel this too.
Special thanks to Bhai Rashpal Singh Ji for the additional information and background work to make this episode happen!
Massive thank you Sangat TV for providing me the space to have this discussion. Please forgive us for any mistakes and please hit like and comment your thoughts as well as sharing this episode with those who may benefit from it and to help this podcast grow.

Amazing podcast! This was so inspirational and insightful - please keep them coming!

Wow, what an insightful, informative, and inspirational podcast! Thanks a lot Ji for the efforts and hard work put in.
In relation to the kirtan part, Baba Jwala Singh Ji of Thattha Tibba (father of Bhai Avtar Singh and Bhai Gurcharan Singh Ji Ragi) was also closely associated with Baba Randhir Singh Ji. Bhai Baldeep Singh Ji (grandnephew of Bhai Avtar Singh and Bhai Gurcharan Singh Ji Ragi) mentions and recounts how Baba Jwala Singh Ji would render the Dhrupad shabad reets such as Chartal, Dhamar, etc. Baba Randhir Singh Ji would be so intoxicated by the renditions that he would play the beats with his Karas worn on both hands. This is just one instance; perhaps a podcast with Bhai Baldeep Singh Ji would lead to more narratives, stories, and instances, providing a deeper dive into the kirtan shailiyaas and the reets, which were also sung in the jatha, including the old ones and other important notes for the Guru Panth.
Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated. Will endeavour to look into this at some point! 🙏🏽🌷
One of the best initiatives till now😊

It got to learn so much from this podcasr looking how elder gursikhs did kirtan back then. Thanks for doing this podcast hope there will be more suchlike podcasts in future.
In the podcast Bhai Kamaljt Singh also mentioned about the 3hour recording of SDO jee doing kirtan where he mentioned it was weaving of tapestry, does anyone has that recording? Would love to hear it ji, do share the links if anyone has it🙏
