In this episode we are looking at different ways to reuse empty bottles and make something cool.

It looks like a tip of an arrow.
It was super cheap, but it does the job.
I drilled a smaller hole first, then changed the drill bit to a bigger size.
I want to try Diamond Holesaw drill bit and see how it performs.

Thank you for this video. I teach English as an Additional Language (EAL) to adult learners and, recently, the students brainstormed different ways to use a glass jar. One student showed, on her phone, how bottles can be made into candle holders. I think the design was simpler than yours. The bottom of the bottle was removed. The candle was placed on the table and the bottle put over it. However, your video is great. I will show it to my students.
Personally, I am very keen to recycle things. I keep coloured bottles and used them for mini vases. I think I will try making your candle holders. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
I made candle holder’s as per your guidance .. but the bottle broke with in a minute after lighting the candle .. I spent almost 2 days on it.. and made a cut on my finger also.. Final

You make the glass cutting look so easy. I know for a fact that it is anything but. I would say, even using your method, which is one of the best I have used, that only 1 out of 10 bottles cuts anywhere near that cleanly.

+Shake the Future You can also make arrowheads out of the bottoms of the bottles if they are thick enough, and don't have too concave a bottom to them. ( think Flint Knapping like the Indians have done for years )

I try this method 10 times to cut the bottle but every time bottle cracked from wrong place and some time it cut correctly but hair line crack remain
What exactly did you try to make. If it's the ashtray, yes it can be tricky. Better to drill holes after the bottle is cut.
If you just trying to cut the bottle, then there must be a problem.
Is your scoring line straight......I mean...Does it go all around the bottle and perfectly join the other end?
This method works very good. Sure, there is a chance to fail, but not 10 times in a row.
I am wondering what kind of bottle are you trying to cut. If the bottles you are cutting are all the same, maybe that's the issue. Try a different kind of bottle to see if you succeed. Some bottles are tricky to cut this way.
Another problem could be too much heat applied. I you use a candle to heat up the bottle, don't over do it with the heating.
Alternatively you can try hot and cold water to separate the bottle.
Pour some hot water onto the cutting line and then change it to cold. Repeat as many times as necessary until the bottle splits in half.

You are making for a fun, I used to make for necessity, back 60 years ago, I couldn't afford to buy where I grew up.
We end up with a lot of empty wine bottles in our house. And glasses always seem to go missing. This way I get unlimited glasses. Cheers!!

Hi, The gizmo you use for scoring the bottle with, is that homemade or a bought product? also.. the point used for the scoring, is that a diamond tipped point? I want to have a go at making a glass didgeridoo using recycled glass containers. Once turned into tubes, I want to join them together, hopefully by fusing them with a blow torch. Can offer any tips about glass welding in this way please?

I don't think the cutting wheel is diamond, but I am not 100% sure.
Fusing the glass with the blowtorch is not that easy. Glass tubes will crack before they start to melt.
You will need to put those tubes in a kiln to heat them up (to avoid thermal shock) Then you can use the blowtorch to melt the glass in the spots you want.
Maybe there are other ways to do it, but that's the only method I can think of.
Ps.
Ask somebody who does glass melting. There might be a better way to do it.

Very well explained. Does the scoring and candle-n-ice method work for all types of bottles? Does the bottle not break while drilling the hole? Is only keeping it underneath the water enough to prevent that?
