  • New Amsterdam Travel Video- The city of Deventer lies on the Ijssel River in the northern province of Overijssel. Dating back to the 8th century, there are plenty of historical sites to visit. But the city also has a modern feel with a new city hall, a craft beer brewery and river cruises. Walk the cobblestoned streets, eat some Deventer cake on Brink Square and sip a glass of wine in the courtyard of the Arsenaal Restaurant. Another wonderful daytrip from Amsterdam that won't disappoint. #deventer #overijssel #netherlands

      Deventer for Arnhem….

@@ACwebseries Yeah because the surroundings of the bridge in Arnhem were destroyed because of the battle they build mordern houses there so it could not pass as a 1940's setting and the production team of the movie ended up in Deventer because the Wilhelmina bridge looks like the John Frost Bridge.
Fun fact they started building the Wilhelmina bridge just before the outbrake of the second world war construction ended in 1943 then the Canadians came in april 1945 and the Germans blew the bridge up. How ironic LOL.

We had a professor in college at Kalamazoo Michigan [in the heart of Dutch SW Michigan] and he pronounced his name of Deventer [dee - vent [like the air supply opening] - er]. I'm really surprised at the city name sound - unless the family name has always been different.

That’s weird, because the long Dutch e (ee) is always pronunced like (ay) in English (day-vent-er). I would say he English-ized his name.

Deventer, it is also home to the largest book market in Europe. Sorry but I didn't know your channel before now, otherwise I'd have given a heads-up 2 weeks ago...
