    Your video just saved me from flooding my bathroom! Thanks 👍👍
    I've had to replace wall mounted bath shower mixer taps (seized on hot and full on!) and decided whilst about it to put isolator valves in to make life easier in future! (we've had to have the water turned off for 2 weeks, turning it on just to wash dishes or run the bath (flushing loo with jugs out of the bath! Been a nightmare!!😱)
    Plumber no showed 3 times (!!) so I decided to have a go myself.
    I was really struggling to do the nuts up tightly because of the tight squeeze inside the wall... still really struggle to handle the big wrench tool and the small one in confined space. Can you just use two small ones?

    You pointed out that the body of the valve has an arrow on it, to indicated the direction of water flow through the valve.
    As each end of the valve appears to be a mirror image, and the cut-off ball revolves 360 degrees, how important is it to have the arrow and water flow correctly aligned?
    Would the valve still work correctly and without problems, if it was fitted the opposite way round ie. with the incoming water flowing in the opposite direction to the the arrow?

    Which way is on ? vertical to the left or right ?

    • @diydoctor
      @diydoctor  8 років тому

      Vertical is on. When the line is across the pipe, it's off

      So off is to the left then! ..........thank you.....because mine won't turn left or right.

      It doesnt matter if you turn it left or right. If the handle or screwdriver slot is in line with the pipe the water is on. If the handle or screwdriver slot is at 90 degrees to the pipe then it is off.

      Thank you for your replies to my query, my anxiety was that because both isolation valves on the hot and cold supply seem to be seized in the open position and I didn't want to risk trying to turn them the wrong direction and snapping the screw off, all I want to do is change both tap washers and I can't turn the water off! ......nothing is ever easy ......
