I noticed the expensive glasses had a more amber color so I'm guessing that's the color that works... The cheaper ones did work but not as clear as the amber colored
Honestly, if it were not for Luxotica cornering the eyeglass market up, we would all have nice Costa polarized shades for a cool $50. Good video. Thanks for sharing the information.
Be carful with those cheap glasses, because a lot of them don’t come with uv and ub protection. So when your pupil is dialted its being bombarded by uv rays, you can potentially damage your eyes. Thats what happened to my dad.
Renegade has been making quality lenses for years, I use their green lens sight fishing glasses during spawn and you can buy them for $20, my blue color that I use on bright sunny days were $15. Id use a budget fishing brand over the gas station glasses any day.
I agree. I had a pair of Renegade sunglasses I got from Walmart and i took them with me when I went fishing offshore in the Gulf. I ended up throwing them out because i didn’t take care of them and the tint began to come off but I’ll be getting another pair (or two) because they’re pretty good, I think.
Florida boy here, I love fishing anything and everything. Ponds, creeks, lakes, rivers, streams you name it. My favorite, is and will probably always be salt water. Beach, inlets, inshore, flats, etc.
I have three pairs of oakley's, which one of them was given to me by a friend, & they're made from their O-matter technology which makes them stress resistant, & very durable, I have the flak 2.0 xl, the gascan, & the oil rig white ghost text, which are the one's that I got from a friend of mine a few years back.
i have prescription sunglasses that have polarized lenses but i try and try to see things under the water but cant i don't know if its the time of day with the sun or what just never had luck with that
Thanks for posting, love the vids. I was wearing cheap Puggs for years. I refused to drop cash on glasses. They would break, Scratch, or I would lose them, so I was like eff that. Well I got some Costa as a gift. I have had the same pair for over a year and they are tough. I work outside, and they hold up well. I also take better care of them vs the cheap ones. I don’t just throw them around. The higher cost made me start to give a shit. Lol.. I will buy another pair for sure when these are done.
gwdirty agreed! I never took great care of mine until I got a really nice pair. Now I do and cannot be more happy with them! Thanks for tuning in! I really appreciate that 😁🤙🏼
Been a cat fishermen since I first learned how to fish. So I prefer river. Channels, flatheads, white bass, and walleye. New(er) to bass fishing so I'm testing a bunch of smaller lakes and reservoirs.
Does color lens matter? I bought some Costas blue lenses during the summer last year for deep sea fishing? Would I get better result for ponds and lakes if I got some green lenses?
I been wearing costa for 25 years and while I’ve had some issues with lenses cracking and frames breaking. They’re still the best fishing glasses out there. I am currently wearing the Diego’s. In 580P I changed to the plastic lens because I kept dropping them on concrete at work and breaking the glass lens. As for the frames I have a rather large size head and I stretch them out a lot even the larger frames lol. Never had the problem that one person on hear was referring to with the plast coating peeling because real costas don’t have a plastic film coating. Cheap knockoffs do. Anyway enjoyed your video and keep it up. Oh and upriver current on dammed lakes is my favorite fishing for spots or smallmouth.
Costa glass lenses in green mirror, silver or copper for surf, jetties, bays, channels, rivers, lakes and ponds. Costa blue plastic lenses for offshore. Oakley's most any of the VR28s or Prizm Tungsten for hunting; makes the hide, fur and feathers pop out against their environment. Prizm Tungsten on coyote fur...coyote hunters, you'll thank me. Oakley anything for shooting and every day. Smith Optics for everyday; partial to the Serpico silver mirror. Also, use the Smith Optics clear lens Boogie for whacking night time fall/winter feral piggies while I stand in the bed of the truck with the AR over the cab. Cold air at any mph hurts the eyeballs and makes them water to the point of useless. Those Boogies make a difference. My 2 cents. Protect those eyes they can't be replaced.
Costa Mag Bay tortuous with the green lens, they were my choice before I set on em, it's ok folks, they were 3 years old and were in need of replacing, I rock the Ray Bans now, but I don't remember the name of em, not as good as my mag bays by far, but good enough for eye protection and shallow bank fishing!!
i bought a 20$ pair of Rapala polirized sunglasses. ive been fishing for 4years with them and they are very good. i tested my friend 300$ pair and they are the same. you dont see anymore than with the cheap one, even him he didnt believe it when he tried them. basically buy the cheapest pair of the most comfortable glasses you can find. i personally am farsighted and i finally bought a pair of prescription sun glasses+polarized from china (100$) and they are no better or worst than all the other polarized glasses i tried..
Love ocean the most but I love fresh water just as much I'd say each has its own appeal but I'd say freshwater is more fun to fish because you have way more lure options
Sorry to be a critic but there was some misinformation presented in this video. First, the mirror on those Costas is green but the lens itself has a copper tint, which is a high contrast color and best for seeing details in shallow water. A bronze tint would have a similar effect. Second, Costas with a blue mirror (not blue lens) have a gray lens. This lens tint is best for deeper water and bright sun. Those cheap sunglasses probably had grey lenses which is why you couldn't see the fish.
besides different mirror colors,,,,, the lens itself has different colors. the Costas had an amber/red tint to them. your gas station glasses probably had a grey or smoke lens. grey or smoke will give more true color but amber/brown /red/yellow will give more contrast but they will alter color
I will never understand bait casters or why... granted I have never taken the time to learn them... what is the benefit from them over spinning? I am a fly fisher from Alaska
Love the venom fishing reel you suggested a while ago you are the one who persuaded me to buy it works great, Just caught some fish in a tournament with it.😁🎣
You can get plastic lenses in Costas for $150ish. If you mean even cheaper I have a Body Glove pair that was $40 that I love to use while fishing. And I won't feel too bad when I drop them off my kayak.
Costa and Oakley are made by the same company. I have both and in terms of durability Oakley is definitely more durable. I have Oakley to thank for saving my right eye.
If you have glasses you can always buy prescription polarized sunglasses so you can see normal and have it polarized but will cost you like 80$ but worth it special if you like to drive and don't want to have your sun visor down but have full view and have the sun not hurt your eyes
Only problem with Costas is that the plastic coating will come off eventually I have owned many pairs with the same result. White frankly I'm tired of it and I'm in the market looking for another brand
@@FishingWithYakPak YP actually I'm a stained person. From my area 6lb bass, 20lb catfish are easy. I watch all your videos along with a few others just a few. So love your videos.

YakPak Outdoors there’s a place right next to me which is a swamp and I’ve got nothing but the closest pond which I haven’t tried is 10 minutes away (driving) and for me walking since I’m chubby is like a 20 ish walk probs less but I just have one question. Can u do a vid on a spring tackle box for overall best lures during spring. Thank you for taking the time to reply to my comment I’ll probably try other ponds close by again
Blue Collar Fishing yeah I feel you there for sure. I would be devastated if I lost my nice ones in the water, but a cheaper pair doesn’t hurt at all lol! Thanks for watching 🤙🏼
I bought a couple of cheap neoprene glasses keepers at a gas station a couple of years ago for $6.00 for both and they work great. I don't have any idea who made them but I have been able to put them on several different glasses and they have gripped well on all of them. Anyway, if you get something that will grip well you can keep your glasses right there and be able to take them on and off and not worry about dropping them. If you don't mind leaving them on there permanently you could get a cheap glasses strap and super glue it on there. Then you know it's not going anywhere. I don't like the rubber ends on any of them. They tend to rip too easily.
Agreed, when it comes to shades, I prefer Costa.. haven’t tried Maui Jim’s yet. I may pick a pair up when I’ve got a few extra dollars to give em a try.
