Thanks for this great video brother, I am looking to install Vintage Air AC in my 63 impala, not sure i can do it myself, but im a bit sad because now it looks like I will no longer be able to have a radio installed in my glove box
thank for vids brother,i know this an older vid and wondering if you remember when you ran that wire from trinary to sender unit or thermal switch did you wire a whole new wire to the thermal switch because i use my thermal switch for my electric fans and the wire is already there and not sure if i should splice into it or run a new wire to the thermal switch and link them there,,thanks brother i used your video for info and inspiration and am putting this vintage air in my 62 impala which is a pain, your 64 looks much easier because your glove box is where all the wiring is.
Red Rocket 64 you could be a tech school instructor. I plan on doing one in my 64 this summer. All your videos are very well thought out. They are very detailed and helpful.
Nice video. I wish I had AC. I live in Texas also, the DFW area so I know it’s hot. I just came home from cruising my 66 and I have to take another shower.
@@RedRocket64 yeah me too. I just slapped a set of new Dayton’s on my ride. My very first set. Hadn’t had a lowrider in a while and with the wheels I was so excited I didn’t care how hot it was lol. I’ll upload a video soon.
@@RedRocket64 did you make a video on that? I got my 64 ss non factory ac but i dont like the ac system with vents on the bottom. I want it to look original like yours. Any input or advice to lead me in the right direction would be much appreciated.
I didn’t make a video on that, I just took a pictures off the car I removed the vents from and used those a reference. I used a 3” hole saw and dremal to make the holes 👍
OMG, I still cant believe all the custom cars i see in Cali that removed there air conditioning? my impala never had air so I have not choice but to go the vintage route
blu6foe1 Thank you! I hear you, Oklahoma is just as hot, we’ll now you know have some knowledge behind the install and don’t have to depend on others 👍
Nice bro! Looks good. What kind of radio is that? I have a RetroRadio in my Monte and am glad I didn’t have to cut the dash but I don’t think sound quality is as good as I would like.
You’d have to find one with a 10.5” rotor so the caliper can clear 13s, I’ve personally never seen a rear disc brake kit with anything less then a 11” rotor, so you can expect to have to grind the calipers some. What rearend are you running?
Thank you very much for the response,, I’ve watched every episode on your build,, learning a lot from you and lonestar,, I will look for the rear kit! Thanks bro, 👍
D J It is a issue, the engine has to be as level as possible, the lt engine mounts are also wider then the SBC, you have to make new holes on the engine saddle/crossmember. I used dirty dingo sliders with SBC motor mounts. Side note, if your going to run the same transmission (6l80) your going to have to modify your tunnel to make it fit, it’s to y’all for the stock tunnel. Hope that helps 👍
So basically the best I could do is get the engine as low as possible. I’m using dirty dingo sliders I’m looking for the lowest profile motor mount available. From your videos I was expecting to cut the tunnel. Your videos gave me the courage to try this. You’re a HUGE reference point lemme tell ya
D J Yes sir, low and level, the DD sliders and small block Chevy engine mounts will get you there 👍 Glad the videos helped, if you have any other questions let me know, I’ll try my best to walk you through them 🚀
