I'm starting to see why ppl say PM players don't get as flustered in the weirder melee matchups. Amsa adapted well after game 1 but junebug changed a LOT up for the last game. June had amsa straight JOUSTING with aerials in neutral that last game which low key impressive he forced amsa to play like that
much larger more viable cast including a lot of quirky characters- makes sense. contrastingly pro Melee is very much about preparing for a small handful of matchups
DK is a really interesting pick for Yoshi.. both a grounded and aerial option for breaking DJA and great survivability since Yoshi tends to kill horizontally. I hope to see them play again, two absolutely fearless players who are really pushing the MU meta.
I never thought of Melee as a game with sweeps and overheads, however the way aMSa was shield stabbing made it feel like Junebug needed to block low and high. DK is definitely part of the reason, but it's an interesting axis to a match that isn't usually a factor in competitive play.
This MU doesn't seem that bad for DK. Upthrow leads into non-armorable follow-ups and apparently comboes into DK punch at earliest kill percents, although the follow-ups stop at around 120% if I saw that correctly. DK upb also looks really hard to deal with for Yoshi. Neutral game seems rough though and Yoshi comboes the shit out of DK. DK losing punch charge after being hit out of neutral b might also matter a lot in this MU in particular.
I'm pretty sure he up-throw up-air works past 150% on any DI, but you have to start doing grounded up-throw past around 100. It's still pretty heavily in Yoshi's favour imo, but yeah it's not too bad. Up-b is really good for breaking armour and beating out shield drop
@@MorphBall1 Punish game and edgeguarding. Throw kill confirms are big, but DK still has trouble comboing Yoshi at lower percents due to armour. Meanwhile Yoshi can combo the hell out of DK at any percent. Maybe not heavily favoured, but definitely a winning MU for Yoshi imo
Junebug used only one dair in all the games and no nairs at all, are those considered useless for DK? Is it too hard to get the timing right on the short hitbox?
Not useless, but definitely nowhere near as good as bair, and specifically in the yoshi match-up probably almost useless due to armor (so yea, timing like you said)
He definitely had aMSa playing scared in the second half of that last match. Impressive play for Junebug 👏🏼
I have never rooted against aMSa and probably never will, but Junebug's DK is lookin' fly as hell
I get the feeling that this is how Melee is meant to be played. Two fun and unique characters in a close back and forth.
Underrated matchup from entertainment value alone, great set.

Okay but the last stock of game 1 was crazy
Junebug is amazing, but I swear aMSa's yoshi is just a blender of not stop attacks (even in disadvantage) it's absolutely insane
blender is the perfect desc for amsas yoshi

Leader of the bunch! I'm so impressed with DK, truly a renaissance.
Your comment made me think Junebug won this set 😂

im fully convinced dks better than ganon now
DK combos so much better. Idk, as a gan0ne fanboy, i don't want to admit it but i think you're right.
This was a slobberknocker for the ages! Super fun to watch.

Yeah I’m with you. I’d love to see someone surprise counter pick DK on amsa in a top 8. Love amsa, probably my favorite player but that would be sick

@@MojoMonkey Throw kill confirms sound pretty huge though, although I guess that's a DK given. What do you think makes Yoshi heavily favoured?

Amsa had DK pretty high up on his tier list, so seems he agrees.
Is the first time he's played the MU in 10 years? Green Ranger I believe
Melee will never not be fun to watch. Great skill from both of these players!
NO WAY! That first game did NOT go the way i expected

if that last cargo upthrow was grounded instead of aerial, Junebug would've won game 4. he'll get him next time
Match up inexperience… kidding, dk is going to win a major at some point
2:03 I think Junebug was trying to kill both of them together but Amsa mashed out here lmao
damn could have had game 4 if he had challenged some of those bairs on shield with up b out of shield
Why did DK lose punch charge at 13:02? Had he not lose that charge he would have won with the next grab instead of fair which didn't kill Yoshi yet
If you get hit during your up b, you lose your charge; and this also applies to Samus. Sheik also loses her charge if she is hit out of side b
Good set! Great set!

usa el especial lateral el headbutt es meteórico y te mantiene en el aire.
That star gimp to win the 2nd game 😂
usa el combo del agarre el up air es un clasico.
WP to both
This feels like a rough my for dk.
Yoshi doesn't seem too fun to play against, he can armor every one of your hits, looks frustrating.
so sick
Look, I know aMSa knows the dk matchup right, but I don’t think junebug knows the yoshi matchup either
Junebug recuerda que yoshi al hacer el agarre y en carrera tiene un mal agarre al conectarse.
Funny to see how many ppl try to convince themselves DK is actually good. The character is ass genuinely but great display from junebug
Idk about ass. Deeply flawed, but the kill confirms are there. DK definitely doesn't get anything for free though.
june didn't seem to be playing his best here. I wonder if he was a little in his head having to play amsa
Junebug recarga mas seguido el puñetazo giratorio.
Junebug is great, but Amsa outplayed them.
the up b is too slow against yoshi. his hit priority is a problem too.
Hi
junebug escapa de sus ataques.
