I don't understand. What is the difference between a Huion Kamvas 16 and a Huion Kamvas Pro 16? The naming schemes for many pen displays are too similar... kamvas 16, kamvas 16 2021, kamvas 16 pro, kamvas 16 2.5k, kamvas 16 4k, and I feel like I missed some? idk. The comments seem to favor kamvas pro 16, but this video wasn't for the pro version right?
Hey Brad, can you suggest which one to choose between, kamvas pro 16 ( old one) or the kamvas 16 (2021) version ? , I'm a bit worried about the waves and blobs with the pen/stylus
@@hironshy5337 I meant the current pro, because it looks like the difference between the current pro and this 16 base model is that the pro has an etched glass display vs. This that only has a anti glare filter applied. And this 16 also has a newer pen tech.
somebody please tell me what this thing does that procreate and photoshop or coral draw cant do? does it 3d like cad? other then that...whats the point besides a big drawing screen. I use a very small screen for big giant print projects
6:40 Wait what ? The pen is supposed to be a new one, ""PenTech3.0"" . All the older Huion models have a ""PenTech 2.0"" . Look on the Huion website : store.huion.com/products/kamvas-16-2021 ( scroll down pages ) The new pen technology is supposed to make a more "drawing like" experience. The pen nib is supposed to wubble less. I m a bit dessapointed that you didn t feel a difference ( at least in a good way) I was waiting to buy a huion product when they will have a more similar drawing exerience like on a Wacom. But it seems that i will wait a bit longer now. Hopefully they will make improvement on the software side
I have both the kamvas 20 (pw507/pen tech 2.0) and kamvas 22 plus (pw517/3.0). Maybe brad didnt notice since its been a while since he’s reviewed a huion with the old pen tech but the the new pen is 100x nicer to draw with since the nib bounce/wobble is completely eliminated.
What is the difference between the Kamvas 16 and the Kamvas Pro 16? Kamvas pro 16 seems to be an older version, but it is more expensive. So what are the pros of it?
I started using a pen tablet (non-display one) many years ago, but I really used it during COVID. Using a whiteboard is fantastic. I used to sketch previously and tried digital painting, too. It is a hobby, and I mainly do it to relax (the same as I do with sketching). As I am travelling a lot now, I was thinking of buying a USB-C display. I am very used to two monitor setups both in my home and office. I think with the price it will be very hard not to buy this even for casual use.
dud.. the pen is objectivaly better ...... like the sensor is much closer to the surface so the pointer always close to the pen nib and generally gives you better feel and performance... dont understand when you said its not better ??
If you're comparing this vs the older 16 Pro - for ZBrush and Substance use (not illustration use) - would you think it's worth the upgrade? Specifically the Pen Tech 3.0? Right now the 16 Pro is $100 cheaper. (edit: to clarify I have neither at the moment - trying to determine which one to get for intermediate use)
If you are still wandering what tablet to buy, xp-pen or huion or even gaomon or parblo etc etc etc, here's the info that might help Only two companies are manufacturing tablet hardware: Wacom and UC Logic. Remember Genius tablets? Yup, UC Logic. Huion and Xp-Pen? UC-Logic. Yiynova, Parblo, Ugee, Artisul, doesn't matter, digitazer is made by UC Logic. "So, what's the difference between them then?" - you might ask. It's drivers and other hardware parts like buttons, display, usb/type-c/video-input ports and cords. But the core, the tablet itself, is mostly the same everywhere. If there's a bigger panel made by UC Logic, both Huion and XP-Pen will release bigger tablets. If UC Logic will improve on responsiveness and lag, you'll get that from every named brand very soon. And the difference will be barely noticeable. Most of it comes from screen panels these brands use and how much interference they cause. So the right answer for "what to choose" is choose what you like the most. By looks or ergonomics or even just the price tag. Don't buy cheap no-names though, they use very cheap hardware that just wont work right and sometimes fiddle with drivers so much the tablet just wont't work on any pc. Also, Huion and Gaomon are the same company. Literally. Huion = Gaomon.

@@jinjinichi9602 So it uses the 3 in one cable. One cable plugs into the table then branches off into three other cables, a power to go into the wall, a usb and HDMI to go into your computer. My Huion is my only display at the moment for the Mac Mini. I could get a Thunderbolt to HDMI adaptor and run a second monitor ha So these tablets just act like monitors. I think there's only a very small crowd of people who buy mini's for hooking up tablets for drawing. The original purpose of the mini was suppose to be that cheap option for people to get into Apple. Nowadays it's more of a niche product or it's used as a render farm. So this is probably why it's hard to find much information on people doing these kinds of set ups.
@@miidysama9908 I couldn't get my kamvas pro 16 to stay calibrated. The kamvas 2021 has no glass resistance on the pen whatsoever. It feels like slick glass. This will be third tablet return, ug. Going with the cintiq 16 pro and see how that one works out.
I'm going to get my first drawing tablet soon. I do 3D modeling/rendering work (on a desktop), but want to get into 2D artwork, and this is the perfect size since it would fit in the backpack I use to lug my laptop around (not that I travel much anymore), and would be comfortable in a lap for my awkward setup/seating position. The big question is whether you would suggest this Kamvas 16, or the XP Pen Artist 15.6? If they are so super similar that it's down to a coin flip, I like the twist knob on the XP Pen more than a slider, but love the aesthetics of the Kamvas and its pen holder. I actually don't like the shortcut buttons because I tend to rest my left hand on paper when I draw. And they definitely should do more 18/19 inch tablets, to me that's a perfect medium size. It is really weird though how Wacom's budget options don't have laminated displays yet, so in that sense I respect Huion a lot. I guess I'm a bit of an aspie, but I'm still waiting for that perfect tablet to come along that is a nice 19 inches with no lag or screengap. And definitely no wave

With the sale going on right now I'm thinking of either uograding or sticking the the 16 pro. Which one should i stick to? Just buy another 16 pro or the 16 2021?
Great review as always Brad. Since the release of this model I found a retailer selling the Kamvas pro 16 with a big discount so took the plunge. It hasn’t arrived as yet and starting to doubt I’ve made the right choice. Do you think I should return the pro 16 and look to purchase the new 2021 model? Do you think the drawing experience is better on the new model?
@@m.a.a_artwork I personally didn’t get on with the Kamvas pro 16 and returned it. It’s built really well and looks lovely but the drawing experience was flawed. The pen nib felt really loose like a ball point pen with the spring missing. And there was an issue where the markings on the screen wouldn’t match where I placed pen tip. It would be off by a couple of millimetres especially around the sides of the screen. Whether this is the same for the new model I don’t know. I believe they have changed the pen tip for the latest model so it’s much more firmer. After returning mine I found a deal on the Wacom 16 (none pro model) and would recommend it. The drawing experience is much more natural and feels accurate. It doesn’t have some extras like touch screen or additional input buttons but feels good to draw on which is the main thing.
Can anyone tell me how the lifespan of huion is compared to Wacom? I have an old Intuos M which is indestructible, but now I want to change to a display tablet. this one looks very good, but I could get the Cintiq 16 from a local dealer for 100€ more and have 2 years warranty without extra charge. this has no laminated screen and no shortcut keys. Has anyone of you made experience with the two? I would just like a tablet that lasts a long time with proper use without being broken.
In your opinion is the Huion RDS-160 basically a version of this with an updated screen technology. There really isn't much info about on the RDS-160 for some reason. Thanks for any thoughts.
Thank,Brad. Bought this one two weeks before your review to replace my old kamvas 19gt. After watching your review I am not quite sure if that was a good idea.
so... I'm really confused about the diffrences between the 16 2021 and the 16 pro 2019... Looking at the specifications on the website, the 16 2021 seems to be just a minor improvement over the pro 16 2019 and comes at a lower price. But it seems like you were more satisfied with the 2019, but that may be because it was a bigger positive difference between that and the model before it? If anyone reading this has experience with eighter or both, i'd like to hear it!
I want to purchase this tablet but I am afraid it won't serve me well for a long run, the feedbacks I've been reading was nothing but bad, so dilemma is real. Should I get it or not.
Thank you for the review! I bought the XP Pen Pro 12 in December in their sale, however the screen has broken on it already, flickers horribly and actually has an after image showing. I'm returning that for a refund and am looking for something else. I will miss the scroll wheel on the XP Pro, but this looks like it could be a nice step up! :)
Hey thanks for the review, couple of things can enhance the usage of this video 1. Whether this is a paid video 2. and Most important factor how well does it compare to a wacom cintiq. I mean most folks are thinking about it, whether this is worth it or to bite the bullet and go for the best one ?

Mostly ipad runs great. I have a midrange gaming pc (ryzen 5, 16gb ram, gtx 1080) and cheapest ipad 2018, and performance is comparable! that said, drawing any big art (lots of layers, effects etc) on ipad is a pain, not really because of performance, but because of how cumbersome it is to work with all these things on touch screen. Of course ipad can slow down on bigger works, but honestly, i tried editing 300mb files with hundreds of layers in clip studio and it was still very responsive. But again, it was hard from UI standpoint.

It stays pretty cool except the top right part where it can get a little warm, but nothing worrisome. The screen size is great for me, of course a higher resolution would be nice but at this price it's perfect for me. The pen is pretty comfortable, every now and now i get some lag on the pen but it fixes itself pretty quickly.
Yeah, overall i think it's great and worth a shot if your interested.
@@ryanschindler923 thanks! Genuinely suprised you responded :) also there's some sales going on rn Like 600 dollar drawing tablets are becoming 200 dollars off so do you think I should get something more expensive at the same price from different brands or stick with this tablet because it's great for the cost?
@@braindeadotaku3520 I would just look look at your budget and what features you think you need and then shop around and see what fits your style and what you think you need. I mean, this tablet can probably do anything you'd want so it's just how many more features you want and how much more your willing to spend. For me this was the sweet spot.
@@ryanschindler923 Thank you so much! I think in the end im gonna go with this! :)
I own the last Kamvas Pro 16, and I think it's great, in many ways I prefer it to the Cintiq I use at work.
nice to see their new model is a single smooth plane that covers the entire surface. my 156hd has a separation 1cm away from the screen. not really a problem, even less a problem since i covered the tablet in matte plastic anyway but it's still nice to watch.
I just ordered this today because there was a prime flash deal for $100 off. I hope it ends up working out well and considering I’m new to art I think this seems like a good place to start.
how do you like it? I will get mine next week
im a 14 year old artist and i just want to say thank you because i plan to buy this tablet within the next year ive have 2 digital tablets a Wacom Intuos 6in x 3.7in and the tablet that i have right now is a gaomon M10K pro 10in x 6.25in and i find it even after about 3 years of doing digital art its still difficult for me to draw that way ive been doing traditional since i started drawing which was when i was in kindergarden lol and i would love to start with this tablet for a screen display thanks for the review i wanted to see how big it was visually and the quality your review really helped me make up my mind i also got clip studio for christmas so i thought that a new tablet would also help me as an artist thanks!

So late but I’m pretty sure it can!
6:40 Wait what ? The pen is supposed to be a new one, ""PenTech3.0"" . All the older Huion models have a ""PenTech 2.0"" . Look on the Huion website : store.huion.com/products/kamvas-16-2021 ( scroll down pages )
The new pen technology is supposed to make a more "drawing like" experience.
@@hyakki5287 oh nice =)

What's the difference between the pro 16 and this 1? Idk which one to buy and I just want the better one even if its 1 difference :/
Which is better?? This new 2021 model or the Kamvas 16 Pro?? And would you recommend them over a Cintiq 16?
I bought a Huion because if your review!!! And I don't regret it!!!!
i love ur vids!! its sooo so so amazing editing, and so much love!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was waiting for this review! :D
I find it really sad that almost nobody said something about the color noise. Thus the screen looks kind fuzzy.
Hey brad, you are the reason i bought this device. Thank you!
appreciate when u mentioned the screen protector peel off part!
Did I hear "One side connected to the TABLE"?
Where is the link of android tablets and phones???
If you're comparing this vs the older 16 Pro - for ZBrush and Substance use (not illustration use) - would you think it's worth the upgrade? Specifically the Pen Tech 3.0? Right now the 16 Pro is $100 cheaper. (edit: to clarify I have neither at the moment - trying to determine which one to get for intermediate use)
Did you end up getting a tablet?
Cannot wait to get my Kamvas 16 !!
Thanks for the review. How about scratch on screen protector after long time, is it bad or negligible?
Yo Varte!!!!
If you are still wandering what tablet to buy, xp-pen or huion or even gaomon or parblo etc etc etc, here's the info that might help
Only two companies are manufacturing tablet hardware: Wacom and UC Logic.
I told my husband I wanted the kamvas 13 2020 for Christmas so we will see if he got me one if not ill be buying one
About the pen (7:50), any firmwere update could fix that? Anyone that have this in 2023 could confirm if the problem persists?
Brad Colbow, please please please make a comparison video between the Huion Kamvas 16 and the XP-Pen Innovator 16! I'm struggling with which to buy.
Doing this same comparison myself now, did you end up making a decision?

@@jacobpetersdesigns Ah yeah I would definitely spring for the iPad for any 2d work, my girlfriend has one and the penfeel and convenience are basically unmatched

Yessss been waitinggg for thissss🔥🔥🔥🔥
Should I get this one or the Huion Kamvas 16 Pro Premium?
Brad, I hope you can also do a review of the latest Kamvas 16 4K coming out. Has anyone other then Wacom released a 4K display.
How is the tilt on this version? I recently got the 16 Pro (coming from a 24HD Cintiq) and drawing at different angles really showed the Huion's weakness :( Constantly redoing lines becuase of the tilt offset being almost 3mm away from where Im drawing is really a big downside for me with the 16 Pro
Wacom's pricing is just too much now so I already bought the 16 Huion 2 months ago haha
how do you like it? Is it working for you? I'm hesitating because I've heard there are many driver issues..
@@miidysama9908 I love it! I got it working with my new M1 Mac mini. Well worth the money, it’s great to see other brands that don’t charge an arm and a leg.
@@JordyToons can you use the kamvas 16 as the sole display when you use the mac mini? I was planning on buying both but I can't see any guides on using graphic pen displays or portable screens as a standalone display for mac mini :(
@@jinjinichi9602 So it uses the 3 in one cable.
Any preference and reasoning? Minor quibbles or detail differences that could sway someone who uses it daily?
Hey, what did you pick? I am choosing between exactly the same models.
@@Kamiey Im stuck between the same models as well. I haven't bought it yet but I'm going for the Huion Kamvas 16 (2021). Based on the reviews I found, it has slightly better drawing experience with less wobbly lines. Im not sure where are you from but from my place its cheaper than the xp-pen artist 15.6 pro. Its priced roughly around $310 here compared to the xp-pen priced roughly $465. Personally, i dont use the dial thingy that often so Im good with the xpress keys on the huion.

I vould like to hear an honest review honestly
3 months later are we seeing any issues??? Like bugs, driver issues, ghosting, not drawing on edges, heating issues, etc???
So i am going to buy the kamvas pro 16 tomorrow ... But i just saw this video... Can someone tell me which one is better? The kamvas pro 16 or this kamvas 16? Help 😭
As a lefty can we flip this upside down so the buttons will be on the right?
I was waiting for this.
Rank all Huion Kamvas pls...which one is the best to buy
I actually don't like the shortcut buttons because I tend to rest my left hand on paper when I draw. And they definitely should do more 18/19 inch tablets, to me that's a perfect medium size. It is really weird though how Wacom's budget options don't have laminated displays yet, so in that sense I respect Huion a lot. I guess I'm a bit of an aspie, but I'm still waiting for that perfect tablet to come along that is a nice 19 inches with no lag or screengap. And definitely no wave

Which pen is better the Kamvas 16 one or xp-pen innovator 16 one?
You need to update your security certificate for your website. Firefox is showing that it's DaNgErOuS.
I currently have the huion kamvas pro 16 and i have so many problems with it. Sometimes it will register me putting the pen on the display when im merly hovering over the display. It also has some damaging in the middle shows blue ish hazy streaks (this tablet is a replacement tablet i got from huion after my first 16 pro malfunctioned and had a purple colored screen). With the sale going on right now I'm thinking of either uograding or sticking the the 16 pro. Which one should i stick to? Just buy another 16 pro or the 16 2021?
I just realized the Tablet also works with just the usb-c to usb-c cable. No need for the extra power cable.
Any experience with the pro 16, I'm thinking of buying one now (big discount as well)
@@m.a.a_artwork I personally didn’t get on with the Kamvas pro 16 and returned it.
@@davidashton7239 What about the paralax, it seems to be bigger on the regular/previouis cintiq 16?!

A question for anyone that has a huion. I bought a kamvas 16 pro and the calibration of the pen is always off, anyone got the same problem?
I have the same one and mostly have to calibrate twice or try and get the pen as close to the red dots centre to properly calibrate mine

Im really interested in this tablet, but im really not sure if a display tablet is for me or not. since im so used to my regular one...
If anyone reading this has experience with eighter or both, i'd like to hear it!
welcome. I could use the "pe design 11" application on the huion kamvas pro 16 tablet?
I want to purchase this tablet but I am afraid it won't serve me well for a long run, the feedbacks I've been reading was nothing but bad, so dilemma is real. Should I get it or not.
Thank you for the review! I bought the XP Pen Pro 12 in December in their sale, however the screen has broken on it already, flickers horribly and actually has an after image showing. I'm returning that for a refund and am looking for something else. I will miss the scroll wheel on the XP Pro, but this looks like it could be a nice step up! :)

How much better is drawing on a PC + drawing screen vs an iPad/tablet? Not talking about software just purely the performance of the hardware?
Mostly ipad runs great. I have a midrange gaming pc (ryzen 5, 16gb ram, gtx 1080) and cheapest ipad 2018, and performance is comparable! that said, drawing any big art (lots of layers, effects etc) on ipad is a pain, not really because of performance, but because of how cumbersome it is to work with all these things on touch screen.
Of course ipad can slow down on bigger works, but honestly, i tried editing 300mb files with hundreds of layers in clip studio and it was still very responsive.
But again, it was hard from UI standpoint.
