Thank you for being you! Your podcast is such a calming influence during a stressful time of life. I’m 55, divorced, children& grandchildren I hardly see. Too broke to retire but exhausted. Working full time plus trying to build up my online business so I can hopefully retire into that. A few moments with you is so calming. ❤

In one of your past videos you said “There’s room for everyone”. Those words resonated with me. Thank-you for creating a safe and welcoming space for everyone.

Hi Denise! Remember, 10 years ago there weren’t channels to compare yourself to. There weren’t "content creators." People didn't live life like in a IG or You Tube stage set. Your sewing room is lovely, and perfect. Seeing all the little things that mean Christmas and December to you, so lovingly displayed, gave me joy.
For your giveaway: Last Christmas, my spouse was in a nursing home following a fall and compound ankle fracture that required 5 hours of surgery to reconstruct. The omicron surge began at the nursing home that week. Because of my possible Covid exposures when I visited at the nursing home, I could not go to the long-awaited and planned for Christmas dinner with friends. I spent Christmas alone. My friends dropped off dinner on my porch and waved from the driveway. I ate my re-heated roast beef dinner, listened to holiday music on the radio and knit on my advent sock.
I hope that this coming Christmas will be the total opposite of last year: a Christmas morning spent with my spouse at home, then Christmas dinner with the same friends, only this year around their table, sharing stories and laughter and delicious food. And for me, much gratitude to be celebrating with my loved ones again. As for knitting, it's back to my Vanilla Sweater, in hopes of finishing it by mid-January so I get to wear it at least once during what is supposed to be winter.
I’m looking forward to your Vlogmas vlogs, in whatever ways they work for you and your family. I’m working on my last Christmas knit, one last pair of fingerless mitts, and it's delightful to have your company this Sunday night. ❤️ harpingJanet

Denise you have such a soothing voice. I can listen to you all day long. I started watching your channel in January 2020 when I decided to overcome my fear of sock knitting. In February 2020 my Mother was in the hospital battling pneumonia. As the days passed I would watch your channel to relieve the fears and anxiety I was going through. Unfortunately and very unexpectedly my mother did pass away February 19th that month. I put down my needles because I lost the desire to knit all together. 2021 I was determined to knit my first pair of socks. And with your videos and the way you explain your method of sock knitting I am proud to say I've knitted 3 pairs of socks already. Thanks to you I love knitting socks. My Mother loved to Crochet and she taught me how to crochet when I was 6 years old. Knitting was something I taught myself to do. Whenever I pick up my needles, whether it's a crochet hook or knitting needles I feel my Mother is close and near me. You're such an inspiration!!! And I know I never would've been able to knit a pair of socks if I had never found your channel. Keep spreading joy and love this holiday season!!!

Last year, I drastically downsized my Christmas decor so I wouldn't feel 'that' pressure. Laughed so hard on November 30th when my husband was putting up our 7 foot artificial tree and the base broke. Now we have our barely 3 foot skinny Star Wars themed tree in its place. My baking is easy - 3 recipes all made in advance - fruitcake made every other year, mincemeat made in October and shortbread last month. Our big meal is spent out of town at the in-laws, unwrapping presents, playing games and watching movies.
Currently, I'm in the land of FOMO ... Disney World. But we don't care if we don't ride the newest attraction, or don't purchase the limited release whatever, or don't eat every snack posted on Instagram. The biggest smile today was when our daughter happily rode the skyliner above DW.
I'm knitting a pair of socks with your heel flap + gusset in a Malabrigo yarn called Anniversario in celebration of our 18th wedding anniversary on December 12. My only pressure is to finish it before our 19th anniversary.
    Cheers!

Glad you are doing Vlogmas! I'm easing into the winter holidays. This time of year is most hectic at work, so I hope to keep things as calm and simple as I can at home. Last weekend, I visited a local parade, light-up and festive open house Christmas shop walk. My area has recently had a couple dustings of snow, so I've put on display my winter village that will stay up until last snow. I currently have an orchid with lovely dark red blooms and will later buy fresh cut flowers. I've exchanged a diy treat advent with a dear friend (during our Friendsgiving) and enjoy opening those each day. I've placed my Christmas wreath on my front door with a new red plaid bow and I also bought a new scented candle. This week will include mailing my Christmas cards and doing some baking. Wishing you happy holidays from Ohio, USA!

I love your no pressure approach! My sister and I are doing VLOGMAS and it is quite hectic. This is a great idea!! I decided not to overwhelm myself with the pressure of completing an advent project with advents that I’m opening this year. I have a few WIPs right now and adding more would take away the fun. I’ll have fun working on them during the winter months to come…without the pressure! Will be looking forward to the next opportunity you have to chat. ❤️

Dear Denise, thank you for your very special vlogmas: it was so good, to get incouraged to take pressure out of this time of year! I am working as a community nurse and also in a beautiful local to me yarn store. Both jobs are quite busy right now... so my knitting is my quiet place and helps me to relax. I just finished 2 christmas sweaters for my lovely grandchildren, want to finish a toy cat for my grandson for christmas and started a lovely sweater just for myself! (My own projects tend to be put on hold 😉). So thanks again for reminding me that there are more important things in life than comparing my making with others!

Ahhhh, BOOKS. Love books, libraries, pen & paper (or… journal books to keep track of all my projects)… yes!
My eyes don’t handle all the reading I want, But!!! I love to knit and listen to audiobooks. Multitasking!
All the advent calendars are stunning & beautiful. Some day (year?) I’d like to get one, but when they go on sale, some crap happens & poof, $$$ gone.
I do however have lotsa scraps, and with the abundance of advent/scrappy patterns, I’m happy to knit up what’s close to hand. Helen Stewart suggests packaging up various scraps + goodies (chocolate is my thing), to make an advent.
Thanks for opening up your heart and this space, I truly appreciate all that you do to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. The tips, tricks & sock knowledge you share is the icing on the cake! Happy Making to you!

HI Denise ! Tickled that you are vlogmassing. Have to tell you how thrilled I have been, (and my sis , Pammie ) , that you taught me how to make socks. Since April of this year when I dove in to your ' no fear sock ' classes, I have made 38 pairs of Holiday socks for us thus far ! Halloween , Thanksgiving, and mostly Christmas. Socks on the needles as we speak . Here is the Amusing part......We have a small farm where we take care of 35 sweet rescued Creatures of God .....I did make socks for Pammie WITH A STIPULATION .....she HAD to agree that these Sock treasures are NOT to be worn for Barn and Chicken Coop Chores ( which we mostly do !!!!!!!!!!!! ) I do not want the Donkeys, Ducks and Chickens wanting pairs ! With each pair I made for her, she said they were so beautiful, she would not have straw or hay getting anywhere near them ! She even bought me the Fabulous new Sock Colorwork book from Charlotte Stone ! I have had SUCH FUN making socks this year and will happily continue on. To say a mere Thank You, seems just that. SO much more heartfelt. THANK YOU !!! seems much more resounding and appropriate. Looking forward to the next visit - thank you for this lovely one. (((hugs))) marcia

Love your channel so much. You taught me to knit socks and introduced me to the joy of knitting with 2 short circs. Last year I attached Summer Lee Tiny Tree Socks to my Christmas parcels and the recipients loved them. This year I got the Christmas knitting done for my granddaughter while listening to audio books. Yay! Everybody wins! Unfortunately, the arthritis in my thumb has flared up, probably due to too much tight gauge toy knitting, so no knitting for the next couple of weeks. Soo frustrating. Anyway, keep up the good work and have a wonderful joyful cosy knitty family winter.. Many, many thanks for all the knowledge and wisdom you have shared. 🙏🏻❤️❤️

Happiest Holidays to you Denise! Your podcasts are so relaxing, calming and you DO NOT ramble at all! I enjoy each one!
My plans: Continue working on a color work cardigan for my 93 year old mother, try to finish a romper for my 3 month old granddaughter, and to make an Advent themed pair of socks (using an adorable pattern called I’m here for the Food by Danaraemakes) the last of which I am terrified…socks are still new to me and even the small size hangs off my feet (how can I adjust the calf and foot circumferences without messing up the rest of the math?) hence the terror!
Frustrations? I wish I could participate in all of the beautiful Advent calendars and as you point out, support small independent dyers, but they are unfortunately priced out of my budget. One day….
Lastly, I have always been a passionate and productive knitter (for over 40 years) but a severe injury 4 years ago left me without much use of my right arm and hand. I taught myself to knit again within the confines of my new set of “skills” but I am now a much slower knitter and some things like the Kitchener stitch and embroidery of any kind are a nightmare - twitchy muscles means I drop stitches frequently! Arrghhh 😅! Sometimes it gets me down that I just don’t seem to be able to keep up, you know what I mean? But I can’t imagine living without knitting, so I just push on. That’s why I enjoy your vlogs so much - you put so much emphasis on taking a calm, measured approach, and don’t like to pressure yourself. That’s very therapeutic for me to hear, in fact it’s just what I need to hear. Thank you for that. Again, a happy and healthy holiday season to you and yours! 🧶

Hello Denise, I actually love your rambling 🤗 thank you for taking time to post on instagram and on UA-cam. The plans I have for this period is to finish my Benthe by Natacha Hornby. Knit my third pair of socks ever with a pair of lovely cakes dyed by Apzmega. I’ve also a ‘on the go’ project-botanical shawl by Stephen West that probably will be finished due to the many family visits planned. And a brioche vest for one of my daughters. But the most thrilling is that my eldest asked me to teach her to knit, so I’ll spend very precious time to do so. I truly feel privileged and thankful she is giving me this opportunity. I love spending such quality time with my kids.

I love audio books, and I definitely need what some might call ‘fluff’ reading. I like Jenny Colgan, too. I can read the deep, scholarly books, or biographies, or a tough read about WWII, or gripping new memoir by Kimberly Plante, ‘Worthy’ about the abuse she survived and the positive outcome; but sometimes I enjoy a simple story, that may be predictable, and is mostly happy for pure relaxation.
You mentioned some IG instruction….I could use it. I have gone to IG, but I really am lost in trying to regularly use it. I never can seem to find what I’m looking for, or how to comment etc. You have such a quiet, gentle way of teaching….please give us some instruction.💛
I look at all the Advent Calendars, and like many of them, but have convinced myself to not spend that much money on something I don’t really need and that I could feel guilty about trying to stay on schedule 😢. I was happy to hear you say that you were going to do what you really wanted to and not be stressed by a schedule that you had to do on certain days, etc. 💛
I hope your winter, holiday season is lovely.
I am waiting for 2022 to be over and pray that 2023 is a better year. I had successful knee surgery at the very end of 2021. While I was recovering in January, my sister died, unexpectedly. In February, my first great grandson was born, and 5 1/2 weeks later in early April he died. At the end of April, I woke up in pain, called the ambulance, and spent 20 days in the hospital; influenza-a, pneumonia, and a collapsed lung; my recovery took several weeks. On June 18, my great niece (16) and great nephew (14) were killed in a car accident; and 2 great nieces (16, 18) were seriously injured….their vehicle was hit from behind by a drunk driver. In early September my college roommate’s son and his wife died, leaving 2 young adults aged 22 and 26. In October, my BFF had a lobectomy of her left lower lobe of her lung, she is doing quite well, still recovering. I am praying for a quiet holiday season and a blessed new year 🙏🏻💛 and some relaxing, quiet time knitting and sewing, and seeing friends.

I am most excited about celebrating "Noon Year's Eve"again this year.....we count down to 12 noon on New Year's Eve and celebrate, make noise, eat snacks so that the little ones can be part of it! (Saw the idea in a kid's magazine) It is fun for everyone, plus then Grandma and Grandpa here can go to bed at a decent time...haha...I enjoy your calm, relaxed videos!

Thanks for your calming presence during the holidays. My Hubby & I are now far from all of our children & grandchildren - we simply can’t see them all every holiday, and must “share” them with in-laws, LOL. I have my first yarn advent calendar this year which is a crochet one my daughter bought for me as a birthday/christmas gift. It has been fun making along with everyone else. I only came across this particular advent calendar last year but it was sold out. THIS year I am seeing all the knitting advents and have no idea why I didn't see them sooner or think to search for them 🤷‍♀ Now I am so hooked and saving up for yarn advents for 2023. I am looking into Australian yarn dyers who do advents because shipping from overseas is horrendous, sometimes costs more than the product! I will get at least one hand-dyed yarn advent but if cashflow improves who knows how many I will enjoy 😁 I experienced lots of joy for Christmas season as a child and also when my daughter was younger, but this year, yarn advent calendars have me full of JOY 💕💕💕 who knew?

Oh my goodness-what a glorious advent calendar for book lovers! Not only do you get beautiful yarn each day, you get a lovely story to go with it! That's so perfect! My budget doesn't allow me to get advent calendars, so I'm really enjoying seeing the goodies you all open on your podcasts. That box you got at Target is so cute! I'm going to see if my local store has them in stock. I knit my daughter 12 pairs of socks for Christmas this year and got a cedar sweater box to put them in. That sweet gift box you found would be perfect for next year! If it's meant to be, I'll find one. Would you believe the tree here was up 2 weeks before Thanksgiving? Our daughter and family came the weekend before Thanksgiving so the celebration got moved up by a few days. I, like you, usually decorate right after Thanksgiving but threw that right out the window and did it early. We have no little ones so it really worked out great for me. I get to enjoy all the work it takes for a little while longer. I'm still knitting last minute Christmas gifts (I really need to plan better next year-I say EVERY YEAR). so I love sitting here with my knitting visiting with you. I get to relax and take a breath for a little bit. Cookie baking for friends will start soon-that's something I enjoy during the Christmas season. My daughter and I decided that we're going back to the "good old days" when everyone made gifts to give. I think it's going to be a really fun Christmas this year.

Oh goodness. First, I am actually so happy that I had trouble with knitting socks in the past (sounds crazy, I know) because that is what brought me to finding your channel--searching for tutorials on knitting socks. I love everything about your podcasts and they are a refuge for me in the craziness of my household and the world in general. Second, while I have never really "got" the idea of Vlogmas from a subscriber viewpoint (as a podcaster, I understand the pressure there must be to keep posting something--but we will find you whenever you publish, don't worry!!), I am very happy that I have watched your Vlogmas episode today. What a delightful time I have spent; you have lifted my spirits for sure. I think I especially needed to hear someone else say "it's' okay" to not knit all the things on a schedule. Even though I know this, it's good to hear someone else (aka, a maker) say this. Your advents are very intriguing; I am taking notes for choosing one next year. Enjoy your holidays and thank you for sharing your time! I'll look forward to catching the next episode.

Hello, Denise! Loved this podcast... You are a blessing. The holidays can definitely be stressful, but even more so it's been harder for it to be joyful for me. I'm getting there. So not only is it hard not having my girls (who are my besties) here, but also missing Christmas festivities with the grands. I'm having trouble getting into the spirit of the season. I celebrate Christmas and it has *always* been my favorite time of year . I typically do a lot but I have fun doing it, from baking to knitting gifts, to creating the family Christmas card and the following year's calendar (photo calendar of kids for the grandparents.) I see. the Nutcracker ballet and purchase a nutcracker each year to add to my collection. I buy way too many thoughtful gifts for kids and extended family. I'm tapped out with gift ideas and I'm doing none of this for 2022. My kids are teens, one in her first year of college so there is a. transition of sorts that happened this year. My youngest is 16 and he's, well...a teen, I can't blame my "grinchness" on the kids...I'm on the fence with doing anything for Christmas. I don't even want to get a tree.
