OOPS! Watchla is $5.99 not $4.99
Now it’s $6.99. August 2023
9.99 CAD (Aug 22, 23)
@@davidbuchan3753 Still $6.99 as of March 2024. I bought it after watching your review and I like it.
Can I recommend something? If you could put video section splits on your video that would be great. Like when we use the scroll scrubber, it would show every section of your video (WatchLA, texting stats, etc..)
Crap I always do that but forgot on this one. That’s what I get for working until 2am
I think youtube calls them "chapters" and I agree, very useful feature.
Fabulous walk-through. Thank you. That clarified everything for me
Went up to $6.99, but hoping it stays, Watch for Tesla is talking about the NEW API and even though we paid, going to a subscription model which stinks.
Thanks, great helpful comparison
How do I see if my car has hardware 4.0 ?
Put it in service mode. I have a video on this
@@CfTesla ohhh ok awesomeness thanks bud ! You rock. Oh I’m getting too pick watch app you recommend on this vid.
It’s still 3. Thought might newest being out of Austin
Like the video 📹 👌 😎
why tesla doesnt do this natively with their own app. smfh
Great video! I have been using Watch for Tesla since I got the car and love it. One fun rabbit hole that could be a good video is I use the Siri Shortcuts app to make shortcuts for different tasks. The watch app adds most of the functions available on the watch in shortcuts, so you can have a "Leaving" shortcut that sets my home thermostats and lights, and also unlocks my car and charge port, turns on climate control, and opens the garage door.
Hey that’s a great idea. I have messed with that app a bit but need to spend more time with it
Your reply inspired me to purchase the Watch app for Tesla. I have set a couple of voice commands like "Open Trunk", and "Signal Homelink". I am looking forward to setting up something similar to what you call "Leaving" that will open my garage, unlock my car and charge port, and turn on the climate control. Now I just need to Google how to set that up. Lol Thanks for the push that I needed to pull the trigger. I surf and am looking forward to using my Apple Watch 6 titanium to get back into my 23'MYLR.
I was trying to copy you and have a shortcut to unlock car and charge port, turn on climate control, and open the garage. I called it "I'm leaving". It does work, but I found it a little obnoxious that using the Siri voice command on my apple watch I would get four separate replies saying something to the extent of "done" and a chime. Is there any way to shut off the audible reply from Siri when she completes the tasks?
Does your Apple watch(with watchla app) unlock the car automatically when you approach your car?
I purchased watchla for 8.49$ CAD + taxes. It works very well except for the missing Siri voice command “close the frunk”. As I installed an after market automatic frunk system. However saying again “open the frunk” closes it! Sent them a request. All good. Thanks for the comparaison.
Has the missing command been updated?
Very informative video. Which app unlocks the tesla the quickest and is reliable?
In my experience with the Bluetooth it is negligible. They all are about the same.
Stats way too much info would not use most of the features. Watch for Tesla like it a lot little more involved using it and setting it up. Watchla looks very simple to setup and use with the features I would use all the time…straight forward. Right now I am leaning toward Watchla I like the simplicity & minimalistic approach just like my Model Y
Very true. That was their exact intention
I will wait for Tesla to enable their native app to Apple Watch. It is long overdue.
Me too
This is such high quality content! Packed! And you speak quickly, so you keep me interested. Thanks :)
great video your explanation helped me make my decision! the Watchla app is my first choice simple & minimalistic. the Watch for Tesla is my close second choice.
Good choice!
The app is $7.99 now. I don’t have twitter account. Would you have codes for the app?
Is it safe to log in to my Tesla account in these third-party apps without using a token?
FYI: now watchla is $6.99
If I had any apple device... And a Twitter account... I'd be all about it. So have this free comment for more engagement as a consolation
😅 thanks!

Question
Can I drive the Tesla using the stats app and my Apple Watch non cellular just using Bluetooth as my key ? No phone or key card with me
Good question! I’d love to know too. Thanks
Thank you - I love all your videos and especially since I used to live in Oregon seeing all the beautiful PacNW scenery always makes me happy :) This video is perfect because I was torn on which one of these watch apps to get and now I know - thanks! I noticed your car shows 222 at 78%, which means that at 100% charge it would be at about 284 miles range. I'm assuming you have a long range Model 3, which is also what I have. My car started at 310 and shows 282 at full charge now. Supposedly this is a function not of loss of range but of calibration. Some have said to charge the car to 50% and then run it for a few days keeping it below 50%. I've done that and nothing is reset, full charge is still only 284 miles. Any thoughts?
Great Video, im a little confused about the Watch for Tesla...if I purchase the app for 19.99 do I still have to pay a subscription fee to use the app? Are the other 2 apps same way with a subtraction fees also? Thanx in advance
This a phenomenal overview thanks - subscribed
Great review. Subscribed and liked.
i have apple watch ultra, all these apps suck it does'nt work i have to keep unlocking my phone just so that can work
Which app has siri function?
I I also installed the Tesla app and always say my Tesla is currently being serviced😂😂😂😂🙈
I guess all codes are gone since I can’t dm you on Twitter 🤷♂️
An other blogger did put 3 and a Y on the same key card.
🖐
Is anyone else having this problem with watchla? I downloaded the app and it’s on my Apple Watch. I’ve set up the key in my Tesla but it isn’t working like it should. When I try and open the door it doesn’t unlock until I open the watchla app on my Apple Watch then the door recognizes my watch and is then unlocked. It’s not seamless like I’d expect it to be similar to the phone key where you just walk up and it automatically unlocks the door
I have the same experience, I think it’s not a problem, it’s the way they were intended to be used. It’s pretty annoying but a quick solution is to make a shortcut to open the app on your watch when you say a specific word like “open Tesla”
For whatever reason the background image of my car doesn’t load on the app on phone or on the watch even though I’ve turned on background image in the settings. I’m using an iPhone. Any idea?
Same issue. Any way to resolve this?
this a bug from the app. the developers pushed one update but still didn't fix the problem @@ronaldshaw2044
Well, Rats! I'm too late. Still really liked the video.
I have a PIN to access my watch. If I set up one of these apps to automatically unlock my car and someone gets my watch and does not have the PIN, can they open the car? Or must the watch be unlocked first?
Once you take your watch off it automatically locks so they wouldn’t be able to use any apps until it’s unlocked
Will these watch installs/log-ins/bluetooth conflict with each other?
No
Is there an app that allows me to use the watch as a keycard without having to log into or link up the Tesla account.
This is what I need to know as well!
Your video explanation was great BUT very misleading for Watch App for Tesla when you said is a one time purchase. I bought the app for $19.00 and with tax is $22.99 and it turned out to be a MONTHLY subscription. So the information you provided is NOT correct and caused me to fall in a monthly payment trap and had to cancel and request a refund which it was granted. Please modify your video.
Watch for Tesla is a one time fee ($19.99). Whether or not that's new, that's how it is now.
It is not reoccurring
Watch for Tesla definitely is a one time purchase….
Did you try using Siri to command the car? For example, open the trunk or frunk
Yep a bit. I find the siri commands a bit clunky. Easier for me to just tap the watch but they do work pretty well on Watchla and Stats. Not much experience with the Watch for Tesla with Siri.
Do I need mobile service on the Apple Watch??
This was super helpful. Thank you. I’m going to try Watchla because I like the clean interface. I’d prefer something not too busy on the small watch face. Sorry, I can’t help you with Twitter followers. I deleted my account there a few weeks ago. Although I’m a huge Tesla fan, and sort of an Elon fan I didn’t like the direction Twitter was taking and so left. It’s good to have choices, right? Hopefully Watchla will be a good choice and if not, it is certainly reasonably priced to try.
Yup. Once Twitter became free speech allowed you had to delete it since you’re a communist 😅. Makes sense. You can’t love Elon and delete Twitter but again you’re a hypocrite so it only makes sense.
I have Apple Watch 3 would it work with the Older Apple Watch?
I haven’t seen anything that says it won’t hit I haven’t verified that
Does the ultra watch only work for teslas?
Great video 🎉
Thank you 😁
@@CfTesla welcome. Thoughts on how to know if my cars got that new hardware 4.0? Where do I look?
Is there any app that do not require access to my tesla account and works purely as a bluetooth key?
It’s impossible since that will give thieves access to tesla and tesla will lose its high security reputation
Does this work for model s
love your video. [hug]
was there a way to use the nfc function of the watch as the key? i ask because when i had my android phone this allowed it to work with a tap. Im thinking about possible ways to stop carrying the backup credit card! ive been a watch for tesla app for a long time. But the walk up function would be brilliant also! the amount of times my car hasnt responded to commands is annoying
ive just been out to the car and added the bluetooth key! thanks fo rhte video or i would not have known!
I put my backup card in my phones case.
If I really need it I can take my phone out of the case if it doesn’t work thru the case.
Did you say had Tesla Ring? What does it do? Thanks, enjoyed ur video today.
It is a smart ring that is the same thing as your tesla key card nothing more. Check out my discount links below for Hansshow and my videos on this.
@CFairTech now that is a great idea 💡. Will see if I can find the seller and use ur discount 😀.
Will these apps start the vehicle also?
watchLa went up to $5.99
Would installing these apps onto your watch or iPhone wake up the Tesla more causing to decrease the battery while it’s parked and not charging?
Yes anytime you add an app that pulls data it will do that to some extent. This is why I showed the option on the Watchla app to not let the watch wake the car. Watchla pulls the least amount of data...pretty much only when you need it so I haven't noticed any change.
@@CfTesla thanks super helpful! Makes my decision easier on which app works for me. Thanks
Stats app does not wake the car. If the car is asleep, it uses cached data which the car provides to Tesla servers before the car goes to sleep
Great video, thanks
Thanks
Ok, I am interested.
😊
Great video, very informative
😀
I love your videos man! You are very thorough and really easy to understand. Most helpful channel out there! Quick question for you: Do you have any advice for us Android watch oddballs?
Try out DRIVE Electric for Tesla. The first smartwatch app to combine Bluetooth, NFC and Internet connection.
Awesome video ❤
Thanks 🤗
