I'm from the Detroit, MI area and for Fat Tuesday, we have a holiday called Paczki Day where local bakeries make a kind of Polish jelly donut called paczkis to enjoy! You can sometimes find paczkis outside of the holiday, but basically every bakery in the area makes them for Fat Tuesday!

@@caserobertson6803 The bakeries near Detroit thankfully usually make enough that you can get a few without calling ahead; my mom usually ordered hers in advance anyway though just in case lol
In Poland we celebrate Fat Thursday instead, and that's when the pączki and what I just learned are called angel wings are sold (I mean we can buy them all year round but that's like the special day when EVERYONE goes to buy some). There are insane queues in the really good and popular bakeries, it's insane but so worth it! Glad people outside of Poland get to enjoy them too!! :D

I'm glad the print quality of dogs with jobs was good! That'd be a lot harder to fix than just needing to insert pages. That said, I did spent most of Friday fighting with a printer so I definitely don't have the best grasp of them lol

We had a school horse that loved the very strong Fisherman`s Friends. So I always had some in my pocket, for after the lesson :)

In Germany no one eats pancakes with lemon. I think traditionally maybe with jam or nowadays Nutella. It is cheaper and just as easy to make them from scratch. And you are right. The first one never works.
Highly recommend lemon if you've never had it, its SO good!
Oh mannnn.. my grandma used to have Fishermen's Friends in her bag for literally any occasion. She would always ask me if I wanted one - I tried once and that was enough to put me off for life. Rip Babs 🤣♥️♥️♥️

The pancake mix actually tastes even better when you mix it with milk and also backing them in butter makes them less greasy and lets them get nice and brown. I usually use a backing brush for the butter. It gives me more control and helps with the amount of butter. Also congrats on your coloring book! It’s always so satisfying to see something come together that one has worked on for a period of time. Good job!!

Yes they are absolutely delish! I've been making them like this for years. But I do make my own batter. Just eggs milk and flower. Mix it well and of you go making absolutely delish pancackes.
A tip for American pancakes... When it has tiny bubbles all over it's time to flip it. But ours do look much fluffier so it may not work the same 🥰

I messed up and somehow thought pancake day was on Valentine's day this year lol Shows how little recognized it is here in the USA. I was worried the proof was a lot worse but glad it was a minor error. The dog amiguri book is so cute! Excited to see more of Steph's crochet

I love watching Steph's progress in her crochet. You might want to look up a "safety eye tool" or "safety eye jig" to help with making it easier to put the plastic backing on the safety eyes. You are both so wholesome. You're videos are one of my go to safe places when my day is a bit rotten. Even rewatching old ones make me smile. Cheers to you both. The Dogs with Jobs book is real sweet, don't worry about forgetting the pages, working with print products can be hard! (I speak from experience lol) I like your music piece, love piano too, and Steph I can't wait to see you try even more crochet! Those Ami Ami doggos have great potential ;3

My grandma's tested and true pancake tip is to wait until it gets bubbly before turning it over! (Results may vary depending on your batter consistency I guess.. :'D)

Yes when you start seeing a few bubbles and small holes appearing, plus it looks not dry but less moist than it was then I turn it over.
I LOVE fisher mans friends! Very iconic lozenges in the nordics. My fave flavor is raspberry i think
We have fisherman’s friend here in Australia too! My Pop was a fisherman and he used to take them with him whenever he went fishing at night, so I always assumed they were called that because they’re so spicy they help keep you warm when you’re out fishing in the cold.
That will be the first book tour of Adam's with no blank pages ;D

I've never heard of Pancake Day here in California, but it should be a thing! Lemon pancakes are also a new concept, I'll have to make them soon
no one asked but here's my favorite tip for light and fluffy pancakes (*if youre looking to make american style ones): after mixing your batter, let it sit for 10-30 minutes. It lets the gluten develop a bit and the flour to fully saturate, even just 10 minutes of resting will make a difference in your pancake texture
I love blue bonbons omg i haven't had them in over a decade! Also my partner loooves fishermans friend for when hes sick, we're from the US but i think he may have gotten them online?

We also have the lemon shaped juice bottles in the US and the hardest I've ever laughed in a grocery store was when I saw a shelf of them and the label on the shelf just said "plastic lemons"! x'D
We have pancake/Shrove Tuesday in Canada (well, Ontario, at least). When I was a kid, we’d make them in school and everyone had pancakes. Yum! We didn’t put lemon in it though. We also have the plastic lemon-shaped bottles with lemon juice in it. Got one in the fridge as I type
We also have the lemon juice plastic container, lol. And it is law that the first pancake sucks, it's witchcraft if it turns out perfect from the get-go!😂

I actually just found this channel a few days before Adams birthday video came out....i binged the videos and was loving it then found out about Stephs coloring book and had to have it... got it actually on the day your birthday video posted colored along watching...now im just waiting for yours to go live so i can complete it as well!!! I've never heard of pancake day in the US I just researched it and I'm sad we don't really have that over here! It sounds like a great excuse to eat some pancakes or crepes hehe💖I've been following you guys for at least 6 years! I can't wait for your coloring book Adam! In the US, from my experience at least, we have big fluffy stacks of pancakes saturated with butter and syrup. We do nothing healthy. 😒😄

The fisherman’s friend factory is in Fleetwood where I went to high school and also it was at the bottom of my sisters old street, on certain days the whole area round it would smell of the menthol so you got your nose unblocked without eating them 😂
Love pancakes. I normally have a small sprinkling of sugar with the lemon. This year we tried making American style pancakes instead using one of those boxed versions and it was tricky getting the timings right. It’s all practise though.

I don't flip them but I just cook one side of them and put them on the plate. When you make your own mix, I have noticed that the first one doesn't come out (usually), that great but the next ones do. I also find that making them in a smaller pan works better than the large ones as they don't seem to fall apart as much. I prefer making my own mix, though because I can make them with wholewheat flour and I wasn't that impressed with the shop bought mix I used recently as all the flour collected at the bottom and the batter was too thin.
Im always so excited to see the improvements both of you go through! From drawing, to making books, to crochet, I'm so thrilled to see it all!
And to Steph: I'm so glad you let Adam help you with things involving your wrists. I have arthritis a lot younger than the average person, and I'm so bad at just letting people help me. So seeing the both of you care for each other and receive care, makes me so happy.

I live in the South in the US so pancake day is Mardi Gras! (which translates back to Fat Tuesday, of course) American pancakes are pretty different from UK ones I've noticed; i went to uni in Scotland so I've experienced some interesting attempts at American pancakes and Mexican food.......ours tend to be made with buttermilk, so they come out very thick and fluffy. Never heard of lemon juice on pancake! Maple syrup all the way over here

YUM PANCAKE DAY! In South Africa we always had pancakes with lemon and then sprinkle on some sugar with cinnamon 😊 Although, now that I’m living in the US, their equivalent of our pancakes are “crepes”
First pancakes are always the worst!! But after years of having an electric hob I figured out they never quite get hot enough to make GOOD pancakes. All my pancakes looked like yours for years until I had the power of FIRE

There's a tool that you can use to push the backs of the safety eyes...or i use a screwdriver that can have removable bits. Use the screwdriver without the bit to push the white part into the eyebit.

pancakes look so different in the US!! yours seem almost like crepe density, ours are super fluffy and light and we dont use lemon we use maple syrup as a topping. lemon does sound good tho! something to try. also i have never heard of pancake day being celebrated by anyone around me here
Fisherman's friends are the best! Pretty easy to find in Canada but I have to order them online to get them in the US :(
A fun fact about me, I can't really taste sour stuff anymore. So when I was in Chicago for a school trip me and my friends made a bet that whoever can chug one of those lemon juice things would get dinner on the group. I drank it as if it was apple juice and got delicious deep dish pizza out of it 😋.

HAHA theyre literally just peas that have been squished and dried out but guinea pigs go crazy for them!
i didn't realize american and british pancakes were different! the ones you made had such thin batter, it looks more like crepes to me, especially since you use lemon juice (never heard of that before)
