@@endpc5166 "The point: Islamic orthodoxy didn't help but worked against learning." not really, ignorance did, and not all orthodox people are ignorant and some are extremely intellectual. To be orthodox one has to follow the Words in the Quran to the T or as much as they sincerely can and that would mean that they would have to learn about different things and use kalam. So if it didn't help, how did the ummah get to that point of "golden age"? (by the way, I think they never left it, non-Islamic external sources are the main reason we don't see it. For example, the US and allied forces' foreign policy is built to destroy this ummah just like they did with their own) It's like saying the Muslims before the "golden age" weren't orthodox (if your using the word orthodox as it is defined in dictionaries, they were. Were the Sahaba orthodox by definition?) and that orthodoxy is some sort of phenomenon. This thought is just a classic case of attributing a minority's actions or ideas to the majority because this is what is highlighted the most throughout history. Because it's so outrageous people just can't stop talking about it that everything else gets lost in time or hidden in the "zeitgeist". Orthodoxy or wanting to follow your religion to an extreme doesn't have to be a bad thing if done appropriately, obviously.

The original Turks originate from the west of Atlai mountain, and their closest cousins are Mongols. The original Turks are "Chinese looking" not "arab/Persian looking" though they are they are totally different from Chinese just analogous to Persians and arabs. The arab looking Turks in central Asia were Turkified Iranian people (of course they were intermarriages with the Turks too) And the White looking Turks in Turkey were Turkified Greeks

Thanks for pointing this out though, we should defo be more cautious in the future.” - Wikipedia, American Gothic I also found an article online claiming Wood’s mother was chosen to pose for the painting but declined and that a popular caption for the painting is “An Iowan with his wife”. In pop culture satires of the painting also seem to depict husband and wife which probably explained my subconscious attraction to use it for such.
Your comment inspired me to do some more research and the rabbit hole goes deeper. This quote is from the Wikipedia article for American gothic: “In 2005, art historian Sue Taylor suggested that the figures in the portrait may actually represent Wood's parents. She claimed that due to Wood's father passing away when Wood was only 10 years old, Wood did not develop a close relationship with him but noted that he did spend the rest of his life very closely attached to his mother. She theorizes that Wood may have developed an Oedipus complex and subconsciously expressed that in the painting. Taylor cites the lack of warmth between the two figures as well as Wood's classification of them as “father and daughter” was a way for Wood to remove any sexual connotation so that Wood wouldn't have to face his own fears and insecurities. Taylor also points out similarities between other portraits of Wood's mother and the woman in American Gothic, including the brooch that she wears.”

That impressive age of learning occurred under very tolerant caliphs in spite of orthodox Islam, not because of it, and it finally died due to persecution by orthodox Muslims. Ibn Sina ws an example. "Ibn Sina acquired a reputation for heresy by the orthodox both in his own time as well as in later centuries. The most influential of conservative theologians, Imam AI-Ghazzali, declared him to be an unbeliever." - _Islam And Science_ by Prof. Pervez Hoodbhoy.
Thats the beauty of religion and Gods word! Islam is a philosophical religion in its nature. He tells us he created us to worship and think. He orders us to think, so, its only natural that these philosophers challenged themselves, each other, and tended to disagree. In my opinion, those tolerant caliphs are the essence of Islam. A major misconception today is that all Persians have converted to shi’ism, which absolutely shameful and false. After the creation of modern Iran the term Persian has been hijacked by Iran and all Eastern Persians were named TAJIKS. Which effectively would make all scholars of Khorasan Tajiks despite being historically identified as Persians. Very interesting and genius. However the final knowledge is after death . The earth is the school ground .our actions chose are destiny in equal reward or condemnation.
"Cogito, ergo sum" has nothing to do with what Ibn Sina was talking about. Also, Plato wrote "But if life itself is good and pleasant…and if one who sees is conscious that he sees, one who hears that he hears, one who walks that he walks and similarly for all the other human activities there is a faculty that is conscious of their exercise, so that whenever we perceive, we are conscious that we perceive, and whenever we think, we are conscious that we think, and to be conscious that we are perceiving or thinking is to be conscious that we exist..."
I would respectfully challenge the notion that “Cogito, ergo sum” has nothing to do with Ibn Sina’s “Floating Man” thought experiment. Both ideas allude to an argument for an immaterial soul (mind-body dualism) via a type of cognitive self identification or (for Ibn Sina) in the Illuminationist school of thought “knowledge by presence”. Indeed, it’s common in the literature about Ibn Sina (and the floating man thought experiment) for Descartes’ work to be referenced due to the underlying similarities in the structure of their argument. Check out the paper “Avicenna's 'Flying Man' Argument and Descartes Cogito Ergo Sum: a Comparison” for a comparative report on the two ideas. To your latter point, you are definitely correct in pointing out that past writers and philosophers have understood and implied the existence of the soul. Indeed, in the last two video of ours we have explored as much. What Ibn Sina was a pioneer in, however, was creating a thought experiment and systematic rational argument for the existence of the soul, namely the “Floating Man” thought experiment. Importantly, it’s the structure of the thought experiment that matters here.
@@OasesOfWisdom Plato and René are talking about consciousness or sentience. Not immortal souls in this scenario. Altough Plato did also write about that subject.

It couldn't be possible that Dr. Ibn Sina had an extravagant life. Cause someone who is genious and wise like he was wouldn't drink or love parties cause those things would have influence his mind. He had divine insights. Divine insights wouldn't be possible with an extravagant life. If you read about Nicola Tesla you find out that he didn't marry and was vegetarian. It was known that he even didn't have an intime relationship. For me it is clear Dr. Ibn Sina lived the divine rules he was a great Sufi Master and healer may Allah/ God have mercy on him. Better to tell about his work as to present such things about his private life.
Thank you for your comment. We have already responded to a similar comment on a different thread if you want to check that out. Basically, it is not necessary that someone who is intelligent and industrious will not commit sins such as drinking and extravagant partying. Of course, there are many examples in history of famous thinkers living similar lifestyles, mainly because of the fact that they worked in elite classes, usually within the courts of rich emperors and luxurious aristocrats, as our sources tell us Ibn Sina did. There does not exist much evidence of Ibn Sina being a Sufi healer or master. As you have pointed out, there also existed intellectuals who lived by a much more modest code. We want to show that philosophers, thinkers, scientists were all human after all and differed in temperaments and personalities just as all of us do. This may have entailed the fact that they went against their own religious rules which in itself teaches a lot of lessons. However, this should not and does not take away from whatever ideas, theories or inventions they have aided humanity with. Hope you enjoyed the video!

So can a muslim person who is intellectual and studies think that it is ok to break islamic rules and take this as an excusing example.
For example, the US and allied forces' foreign policy is built to destroy this ummah just like they did with their own)
It's like saying the Muslims before the "golden age" weren't orthodox (if your using the word orthodox as it is defined in dictionaries, they were.

Why is everyone arguing on where Ibn Sina was born and where he comes from, Muslims are powerful when united as one not separated by nationalism that was created by western colonizers.
This is a major issue that's growing among muslims today where everyone is trying to have pride in their nation rather than being Muslim, i think that is where Ibn sina comes from doesn't matter, what matters is that he is a muslim brother and this to me is what brings me pride

Ibn Sina was a Persian from Uzbekistan (Central Asia), not a Turk as some in the comments.
Before many considerable regions of central Asia were part of Greater Iran (Persia is the dominant tribe of Iranian people),
Then the Turks conquered and pushed the Iranians out of Central Asia to today's Iran
They went further and conquered Azerbaijan and Anatolia (modern-day Turkey).
The original Turks originate from the west of Atlai mountain, and their closest cousins are Mongols.
The original Turks are "Chinese looking" not "arab/Persian looking"
though they are they are totally different from Chinese just analogous to Persians and arabs.
The arab looking Turks in central Asia were Turkified Iranian people (of course they were intermarriages with the Turks too)
And the White looking Turks in Turkey were Turkified Greeks
Middle eastern world and western world evolved from each other.

The use of American Gothic is a bit creepy in the context of the video. The subjects of the painting are father and daughter...
Yikes! Had no idea. We cycle through about ~200 paintings and images per video to create the collages, so much of it is bound to be out of context. Thanks for pointing this out though, we should defo be more cautious in the future.” - Wikipedia, American Gothic
I also found an article online claiming Wood’s mother was chosen to pose for the painting but declined and that a popular caption for the painting is “An Iowan with his wife”. In pop culture satires of the painting also seem to depict husband and wife which probably explained my subconscious attraction to use it for such.
Your comment inspired me to do some more research and the rabbit hole goes deeper. This quote is from the Wikipedia article for American gothic:
“In 2005, art historian Sue Taylor suggested that the figures in the portrait may actually represent Wood's parents.

Quantum mechanics and string theory is speaking the language of Ibn Sina
Abu Bakr el Razi was also called a heretic for his disbelief in the idea of prophecy, yet he proclaimed himself as a muslim. People dont get to decide if your beliefs are in line with islam or not, you get to decide that.
@@mariahanano8357 N𝜊, the Qur'an essentially says it created man to subm𝜄t to Allah's will, and the Qur'an was hardly conducive to free intellectual inquiry that modern science demands, which is why modern science developed in the West, not under Islam's oppressive rule that ended that Golden Age.

Tajiks of Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tashkurghan (uyghur),… are all mainly Sunnis.
Also ibn Sina is originally from Balkh (Afghanistan) as his name suggests:
Abu Ali al-Ḥusayn bin Abdullah ibn al-Hasan bin Ali bin Sina AL-BALKHI al-Bukhari
In Khorasan region specially Iran and Afghanistan we call him Abu Ali Sina Balkhi.

You have responsibility of all actions with informations you bring out to the world. So can a muslim person who is intellectual and studies think that it is ok to break islamic rules and take this as an excusing example. I agree that you and me are like normal humans who make mistakes but not Dr. Ibn Sina he was more careful than we to follow divine rules and to practise islam in way that Allah accepts.
