It is an interesting perspective. But I don't know if there can be a satisfying solution there. In the literal sense, it seems like the dolls can have any level of control over people. So, yeah inheriting her mother's position would be possible. However, I personally don't think that ending is very fulfilling on a literal or a metaphorical sense. If Lee is possessed, it seems the police would be all over her, as the event was not a quiet one. That said, the movie is never too concerned with the logistics of the world, and we barely get an idea of other agents in the FBI or their involvement. On the other hand, if Lee is finally done with the possession, she is still probably scarred for life: First with the recovered memories of her old trauma and now being forced to kill everyone close to her. Arguably this would be even more punishing than living as a demonic servant. I am inclined to believe that while the supernatural nightmare is over, she is now faced with a much darker reality and there's nothing she or anyone can do to fix it.
@@bernardodelcast i think with her silver balls’ destruction she is released from her comatose stage, but the deal has been made, Crimson or Clover, she is the 7th daughter, the hydra renews itself and continues. I wonder about Longlegs being the father of all the girls, remember the 911 call by the dad “she’s not my daughter”, and longlegs was living with harker and her mom for 20 years.
@@joediehljoe haha I'll have to watch it again, not sure if I caught that triangle detail. But that's an interesting point. I also caught the 911 call, but I understood it as a metaphorical fear: This girl is not the girl I raised, it is a brainwashed version who someone manipulated. A doll. This would also track with the reading of -modernity challenging and destroying tradition-. Current influences brought into the nuclear family by the daughters that parents simply misunderstand and blame as destructive - change as corruption. Literal daughters would be wild for sure though. Not sure if I'd like that, but I certainly wouldn't expect it Hahaha.
Thoughts: What happens to Harker after the ending? Is she now the accomplice?
