      "Existential dread...?" Your existence is eternal. The universe is physical and finite - you are not. The opposite of what she said is the truth. Instead of us being "insignificant" it is the universe that's insignificant. It is transient - your soul is infinite.

Usually the concept of universe is very depressing for me, I remember first time I feeling crazy about the idea of universe when I was 5 years old and that is when I took religion seriously to not to bother about the idea which I can't comprehend. Well ultimately religion faded away and I am still there trying to escape.. Thx. When did "initial conditions" start? Is it possible that inflation preceded the big bang? Should the big bang be only one?

    • @cloudpoint0
      @cloudpoint0 2 роки тому +1

      Cosmic Inflation is thought to have preceded the *hot* big bang event, the earliest moment that we have reasonable evidence for, and it also created the initial conditions for this event. We don’t have evidence for an earlier big bang event arising from a singularity and leading to Cosmic Inflation. Rinse and repeat universes seem plausible but no evidence yet exists.

      A new proposal, another story of the new beginning of the old beginning of our (so far) observable universe: "This new picture gives us three important pieces of information about the beginning of the universe that’s different from the traditional story that most of us learned. First off, the original notion of the hot Big Bang, where the universe emerged from an infinitely hot, dense, small singularity and has been expanding and cooling, full of matter and radiation ever since, is INCORRECT. The picture is still largely correct, but there’s a cutoff to how far back in time we can extrapolate it."

    • @cloudpoint0
      @cloudpoint0 2 роки тому

      @@IoanesRakhmat
      I agree with your reply. No serious cosmologists today think there was a singularity in the beginning if they even think there was a beginning, or during the hot big bang phase transition otherwise. Either way, something must have existed before the Big Bang, and a universe must exist for something else to exist.
      I know your words come from Ethan Siegel. I follow him.

    • @IoanesRakhmat
      @IoanesRakhmat 2 роки тому

      @@cloudpoint0 So, Quantum fluctuation (QF) still did happen before the hot big bang, with a note: QF did not give birth to the big bang, but rather to cosmic inflation.

    • @cloudpoint0
      @cloudpoint0 2 роки тому

      @@IoanesRakhmat
      QF accounts for the ripples and irregularities we see in CMB. These are thought to have arisen during the inflationary phase before the hot big bang happened and before matter or radiation existed (when the universe was super cold and empty). But QF are not because of inflation. QF always exist, but inflation magnified them as the universe rapidly expanded to make them visible to us in various ways. They left space bumpy in a sense so that matter would latter fall into the ripples and irregularities.
      I'm not sure if QF gave birth to cosmic inflation. If you want me to totally speculate, try out the following.
      Matter and radiation did not exist before the hot Big Bang so it is unlikely that energy as we know it existed either, not active energy anyway. However, quantum fields contain some type of intrinsic energy, a kind of potential energy, and quantum fields are thought to be a persistent feature of space as long as space exists, even empty space. Hawking believed 4D space existed before the hot Big Bang but not time although he mentions that an imaginary time did exist. The point is some kind of empty universe existed earlier.
      Before anything material existed, empty space just perpetually expanded (if adding more empty to an already infinite empty volume makes any sense). There was no gravity to prevent expansion and space likes to spread out if it can. This expansion led to potential energy being accumulated in a quantum field at an ever faster rate, probably the field that was the progenitor of dark energy and perhaps all other fields. It has been called the inflaton field.
      Imagine an empty universe with infinite space and a quantum field accumulating potential energy over unlimited amounts of imaginary time rapidly pushing empty space apart until some density threshold is reached. Some think the hot Big Bang was a moment when that quantum field hit a density threshold and released or condensed its huge pent up potential energy in the form of physical matter and radiation possessing active energy. It snapped, and broke into multiple fields. Thereafter, the process that led to the universe that we see now is not really speculative but some details are not yet understood.
      FYI - The inflaton field is a hypothetical scalar field which is conjectured to have driven cosmic inflation in the very early universe. The field, originally postulated by Alan Guth, provides a mechanism by which a period of rapid expansion from 10−35 to 10−34 seconds after the initial expansion can be generated, forming a universe consistent with observed spatial isotropy and homogeneity. - Wikipedia

      Only if 'flat' means 'round, but extremely, egregiously long'. The Universe would seem 'flat' as well... but it's also very likely that it WOULD (eventually) wrap around itself--just like Earth or any other planet, moon or star. Not that anyone would ever discover this via traditional propulsion (lol).

    The microwave background radiation is the remnants of the hot dense star that birthed our universe as it crunched into a singularity and created our temporal dimension. It's light will stay with us from the beginning and to the end of time. The "expansion" caused by "dark energy" is simply the emergent phenomena of each causal group traveling towards a temporal singularity, the only escape would be if FTL travel is possible. Depending on the mass of the singularity it's possible that even molecular bonds will drift apart and every atom will be cold and alone.

    What a contradictory poem, view, thinking - just shows that Cosmologists do not have a clue whatsoever. If we are absolute random, uncaring and of no significance then we would not be wondering how come we are here. I cannot believe that and we may never know the full truth so here is my take just as we began with a big bang, the end is equally dramatic. Everything that has a beginning will have an end. Whatever force, energy, power, authority that began this universe will one day, hr, second will roll up the universe and evaporate it - then another big bang will produce a new one. By that time we, the common people will witness this creation as we become the new inhabitants of not just Earth but of the entire universe.

    Interesting contradiction in her "poem." She wants the wonder of the universe to mean something to an "absolutely insignificant species."
    The rest of it was the standard cosmological guessing game.
    She started by saying that we know quite a lot about the universe when in fact we "know" very little. It's funny (but not really because too many people believe what people like those in her position say) seemingly smart people make factual statements about the age of the universe. They have no idea & are basing these statements on current observations which are inherently limited by current technology and extreme biases.
    There should be a "for entertainment purposes only" disclaimer on this.
    Someday science will finally come to the realization that the picture will only be more complete, true and accurate when the metaphysical basis of existence is accounted for.
    Nice try little girls.

      There is a difference between a THEORY and a Scientific Theory. But you may have to read another book other than your buybull to get that info bruh.
      Evolution is both a fact and a theory. It is an incontrovertible fact that organisms have changed, or evolved, during the history of life on Earth. And biologists have identified and investigated mechanisms that can explain the major patterns of change. Since 1859, evolutionary theory has become the most universal and, hence, widely tested of the scientific theories in biology..
