Honestly I was scared of snakes because living in the outback I have had plenty of close calls with highly venomous Australian snakes,but after watching your videos I now have a lot more respect for snakes and you have taught me to be more desensitized to snakes which is a good thing.

It's wild to see the snake's hunting technique. He moves the slightest bit when the rat is looking away. When the the rat looks towards the snake, he lays perfectly still, then begins movement again when the rat looks away.

I hear ya there. I had to put those black, badass mouse traps out when I moved into the home I'm in now, the previous owners didn't do a thing to stop deer mice getting inside, living in the country.
The first one was done in less than 10 min from when I set the trap and I got 4 all together. Haven't seen any in over a year now. Instant death with those traps. But the male red diamondback does it better 😃👍

I think the fang of the snake did the damage here more so than the venom, it was instant, probably hit the heart or another vital organ.
The venom just finished it off.
I think the "stretching out" of the snakes prey is caused by the venom to assists the snake in swallowing it's much easier stretched out than curled up for the snake to swallow. Great video.
You are right, at least one fang penetrated the vertebral column and hit the nerve channel, that's why the rear legs stiffened so fast, the other fang went in the abdominal cavity and stoped everything there, as well as the hart.

I wonder if the rat could smell the snake or something. He was definitely having a brain melt after being dropped into that enclosure. But the snake was in its hide. It's just unusual to see a rat not run around like a dumbass. Usually they run right up to the thing that is about to kill them.
