I don't know why snakes open their mouths after biting, but I imagine it's licking it's chops for the dinner it knows is coming. Beautiful snake. Her horned lashes give her that villain look.
Snakes open there mouths after they bite there prey to readjust there fangs into the proper spots. I don't know exactly why they don't go back to the proper spots after a bite but you see it from all fanged snakes like that. And from the videos I've watched from people like Chandler and Tyler they always explain that the snakes have to reset there fangs after a bite. Sometimes if they don't a fang can go through the bottom of a snakes mouth. Have actually seen it happen with a Gaboon viper where there fang has penetrated the bottom of it's mouth. And they have the longest fangs of any rear fanged viper.
Did I get that about right Desert Wolf Army? I've watched a ton of snake vids but wasn't sure is If I got my facts straight or not. And you know a lot more about it than me

I really hope that you know that you are doing something very important! You are raising peoples affinity and awareness that snakes are important to the World. A World without them is a unhealthy. They do so much for mankind too, with little appreciation. I admire the Hell out of you. And I won't lie, I WAIT for the snakes to stretch thier asses out! LOL I do wildlife rescue here in florida ( Possums, Raccoons, etc ) It is SOOO rewarding when I release a little animal back to the wild that initially did not stand a chance. I am a loyal fan!!!! Way to go!

Years ago when I was in the Army, one of the young men in my platoon was bitten by a timber snake....actually some type of rattlesnake...a big one. We were training in the Ozarks, in the Missouri
Backlands, on bivouac. I kept hearing a fast buzzing sound, and I told the Sargent that it sounded like a rattlesnake, but he blew me off, like I didn't know what I was talking about.
We were all in a huddled position, and I
got up and started to walk away against his orders, to remain in a prone position.
Next thing I know one of the fellas is bit on the lower part of his right calve. By the time he was evacuated, he was already in shock, and when all was said and done, they amputated his leg from the knee down. Before they amputated, his leg looked like a cheese pizza.

Crazy venom! one of my favorite venomous snakes is the Mojave rattlesnake. I come across them occasionally in Phoenix when I'm out gold prospecting. they are the ones in Arizona that you definitely want to watch out for. I've seen some of them that are just super green. I stick to my chameleons but it's fascinating watching venomous snakes eat
My favorite snake is Eyelash Viper, I like to call them "Banana snakes" because people would get bit from them for getting confused with bananas they would wrap around on
My favorite is the Saw Scaled Vipers and the Fer de Lance because they don’t give a fuck they will kill you for no reason at all

I read that venom helps with digestion and I was wondering if frozen thawed take longer to digest. I realize the heart stops fast but that still gives time to pump it through the bloodstream. They still can thrive just wondering if it made a difference. Jw
I'd think a frozen, rigid rat would take much longer to thaw and digest than a fresh rat.
