    Thanks for the video. I bought the 1985 Yamaha RZV500R that day. It was nice to re live the experience. It was a dream bike on my wish list and I never thought I'd be able to get it, but it was my time!!

    Thanks for the video. You have my daughter and son who got to drop the gavel on bikes. My son and dad built the yellow 1970 z50 together and this was a lifetime memory for my son 🥰

      That’s awesome! They were adorable dropping the gavel. I’m glad I could capture that for you. If you email me at mechanical.advantage.garage@gmail.com I’ll send you the clips by themselves

    Your knowledge is excellent! Great comments about Mecum not listing correctly! fantastic!

    • @MechanicalAdvantageGarage
      @MechanicalAdvantageGarage  11 місяців тому

      Glad you think so! Seeing the bikes up close, it’s surprising how the listings aren’t great in a lot of cases. Still, Mecum doesn’t write them, the sellers do which is somehow worse.

    Thankyou for this really great job in this series. I learned a lot and filming was really good. I would have enjoyed seeing some dirtbikes/enduros included as well but Im certainly not complaining fron my cozy house in Ohio.🤝

    About half way thru and just watched the Z1 cross the block. Just shows what an anomaly last years $50k Z1 was. This years sold about for what I expected. Like I say mine Z1 isn’t get cheaper any time soon.

    • @MechanicalAdvantageGarage
      @MechanicalAdvantageGarage  11 місяців тому +1

      None of these bikes are getting any cheaper. That said $50k z1s will be an anomaly until they aren’t…it’s only a matter of time. I remember when old timer bikers used to say $who’s gonna pay $20k for a knuckle? Now they don’t cross the block for less than $50k

      Sorry man, I haven’t ridden dirt bikes in 20 years - I wouldn’t even know what is interesting in that world. Next time I’ll try a little harder to capture everything. 😉

    Hi, can you help? I was following the 1960 Honda CB92 and 1963 CB92 racebikes. I see one was passed in and the other sold but do you happen to know what the 1960 LOT F9 reached (passed in) and also what the 1963 LOT T240 sold for? I am in Brisbane Australia and can't see to find any of this info out. Can you or anyone help? Thank you very much Jeremy Havard

    • @MechanicalAdvantageGarage
      @MechanicalAdvantageGarage  11 місяців тому +1

      Lot F9 = $9,500 (no sale). This includes the buyer’s 10% premium so the hammer price was 10% less.
      Lot T240 = Sold at $5,500 including the buyers 10% buyers premium.
      If you register with Mecum’s website, you can log in to the catalogs and see the price. Registration is free.

    • @MechanicalAdvantageGarage

      And yet some of these sale prices set the tone for the private bike sales for the rest of the year.

    the twin engine chopper sold for 9k , must have cost at least 30k to build.

    • @MechanicalAdvantageGarage
      @MechanicalAdvantageGarage  11 місяців тому

      If not way more. All the multi-engined bikes went cheap and there were at least three.

      Try having to listen to it for 8 hours a day with no break. That’s the grueling thing about Mecum that these videos don’t really convey- it can be a grind.

  • @michaeldobson8859

    This restoration was done improperly. It has the wrong engine paint, the seat is not correct for the limited edition. The rear drive color is wrong and the exhaust is missing the chrome covers on the header pipes. The owners manual and the tool kit were very different from the standard Gold Wing as well. The tools were gold chrome and the manual was leather bound with gold paint trim.

    Auctions usually have a pace and the crowd follows along at that pace. I cannot stand when they beg and suspend dropping the gavel hoping they will get another bid. I have walked out on a number of auctioneers doing those things. I detest online bidders because some of these crooks will shill bid you to death. It is easy to figure out if you pay attention. Nice bikes and there are some good buys depending on what you are looking for.

    • @MechanicalAdvantageGarage
      @MechanicalAdvantageGarage  4 місяці тому

      I agree. As a first timer there it certainly was a circus. And for all the “scandal” that happens around a Mecum auction, it’s huge with a lot of moving parts, they do a good job of running it.

    Did you notice what the red 1979 Honda CBX sold for or the mid 70s Yamaha TZ750 sold for?

    • @MechanicalAdvantageGarage
      @MechanicalAdvantageGarage  11 місяців тому

      There were 3 red 1979 CBX’s - $22k, $28,600, and $13,200. There were 4 TZ750’s but the red 1978 sold for $55,000
