Another great video, Thanks again for all the time you put in pointing out all the odds and ends on the different bikes, It's just nice to see original and restored bikes from back in the day, It's like walking back in time, I sure am glad I found your channel, Thanks, Pensacola,
I'm only half way through the vlog, that BSA Cyclone looks an absolute show stopper! Imagine being stopped at a set of lights glancing over and seeing that work of art!
Yes, you are right! Here is the description for the yellow one. Its a 1939 J.C. Higgins. Says (and boy, that's some disclaimer!) Original* Mfg. by: Sears Roebuck Color(s): Orange and Yellow *A designation of "Original" means that this piece dates back to its original era of production, but is not indicative of overall condition
The Hiawatha Doodle Bug minibikes at the 11:00 mark look like they could be replicas. The originals were built in the 1940s in Webster Iowa and had Briggs & Stratton motors. Some kids back in the day used them to deliver papers on them. There's a huge annual Doodle Bug convention in Webster Iowa and the town is "littered" with them at that convention. The original ones are worth some coin.
Dave, you need to apply about six units of relaxant liquid before previewing. Give us a buyers experience. 73 Z1 had the black motor. Check out the the Allen Millyard H2 750-=1000 at the Las Vegas Motorcycle auction. A four cylinder H2 making it a 1000CC bike. Thanks for the video
The 69 trident looks to have a "beauty kit" installed. The original 1969 body work did not go over well in the US, so Triumph came up with beauty kits in hopes of selling unsold units. Fairly rare.
@@bullpencycles I checked the auction website for the trident and there is NO mention of a "beauty kit". More than likely someone pulled the bodywork and seat from a later trident (71-74) and painted it to look like a beauty kitted early trident. Buyer beware.
My dad had an Ariel. He raced it in scrambles and was in an expert class. He said that it had lots of torque that would help him win against the two stroke motors.
Thanx Dave, you have a lot of different tastes in the comments. I myself enjoy "all" vintage bikes. Mini's, MXer's, trikes, but that ridiculous electric thing...well had ne laughing immediately. Safe travels brother.
Yeah, a lot of different tastes for sure! Some like this video, others dont. I can never guess. I think Mecum always draws out skeptics, and it should. But I still wanna see whats there and what they bring.
@@bullpencycles it is al about, condition, condition, condition. I feel like some of or a many of the bikes are flip builds with hasty use of non stock fasteners and rattle can jobs to hide possible problems. Don't misconstrue my undisturbed statement, it is all about pedigree and history of work done. I think its a fun thing to go to an auction, (I have never been to one) but "buyer beware."
I kept yelling XR75 at my iPad! I love the cushman ice cream bike! I’d fill it up with ice cream bars and ride around my neighbor on Sunday afternoons giving kids free ice cream! That little Suzuki is a JR50, not a PW50 (Yamaha).
Imagine pulling up to a biker bar on your John Travolta Wild Hogs Special Edition Harley. Depending on what kind of biker bar it is, you might end up getting your ass kicked. Still not clear if that was the bike from the movie, but I'm not sure that adds much value.
Interesting in beginning.. looks like someone scored a trailer load of VW fenders and/or fiber glass after market fenders and added to mini frame.. a little ugly to me.. but Interesting
Nice looking cb350 four.Like these videos, but the normal rider cant afford bikes at these auctions.Thought I would like to have an xr1200 although Im not a Harley guy.
Trying to get a good idea of how much. my 1970 Triumph Tiger 650 is worth. It's in excellent shape with only 6k miles. Beautiful green paint. Runs great!
25:00 I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to just hop on the bike and try to start it Dave LOL 33:15 that's a $5000 to $6000 HD at most. 44:25 I like to use stainless Allen heads instead. So much easier to deal with.
Dave, would you ever consider doing a little bio video about yourself and some of your history? I for one would be fascinated to know how you came about your expertise . You are a walking encyclopedia of motorcyle brand knowkedge.
Well maybe, if you think slow twins that are inevitably eating themselves from the inside out while vibrating around in a circle and horribly flinging parts off in every direction and leaking oil are not a joke, then yeah, I guess the old Kawasaki first attempt at a 4 stroke Four could be called not a very good motorcycle ...unfortunately a bountitude of rich japanese businessmen don't agree and have managed to buy up and re-import the vast majority of the even slightly good Z1's and kz900's leaving us american super bike fans to pay exorbitant amounts for the scraps
Thanks for taking us along.👍🏼

Ha ha,,,good catch,,,I saw that also.
Enjoying the Buddy Holly story.
Always learning on your channel.
Thank you.
I got most of the story right. Apparently it now sits in a museum. tinyurl.com/57s5pndr
Your well informed commenters have covered all bases. Good health to you my friend.
They did and they teach me alot
Hey Dave, the first year of the Kawasaki Z1 (1973) had black motors. In 1974 they were silver/ aluminum. Thanks for another great video!!
Yeah, I guess I never noticed that until they were parked right next to each other.

Ha! My buyer's experience is on video many times over, and sometimes it's not good!
Great coverage! That CT70 will bring big $$$!
Had a CL77 305cc 66year. Just back from Nam and rode it to 25 miles to school rain, sleet, or snow. Old timer bicycle riding neighbor.
That's a great story.

That would be cool to know for sure, especially since it went unsold in 2023

Cant say that I do. Mostly 2 smoker Greeves
The old JR50 Suzuki with the shifter is the bike that you can turn into a two speed. Not the PW50 Yamaha. Thanks for the show!

No bike there is in "undisturbed" condition. Before getting into aviation, I used to say, "finger f*cked" now I am a gentleman. Nice channel.
Well, really. I'd guess no vintage bike is undisturbed. They all are disturbed in the vintage world.

I think so. They call it a Neutron, so maybe

I guess it would be worse with Will Macy's sportster!
Most Harley Davidsons with a digital odometer you can press the trip/odometer button with the bike off and it will show the mileage
I didnt know that. But the 1990 one had a dead battery when I went back to see.

Those are there every year. I thought they were interesting the first few times I saw them, but now they wore a bit thin.

My only comment Dave is that you were calling a Suzuki RM 80 or a PW50 lol.
Yeah I know.
Don't let Shaun know about that Trident in the crate.😀
He's probably headed to Mecum Vegas
You need to rebuild that top end with a baseball cap, hehehe,I did!
What'd got against Triumph Tridents?
Nothing. I bought a 69 last year. Would really love to find a good T160
Heavy-duty prices 😅 I've never seen a modified Jubilee usually people leave those alone they were special even when they were new .
Ive seen pictures with that English style tank. A Euro model perhaps?
You going to York?
Yep. I'll be there!
@ cool, I’ll be looking for you
I'ma guess your talking about Shawn from bikes and beards, you must not enjoy the videos of him removing old bikes from there crates lol.
His videos are entertaining, and I watch them regularly, but he has ruined many bikes. I'm more about the bikes and less about the stunt.
Ridley is two front cylinders of small block Chevy auto trans😊
No, that's the Nostalgia Super Vee
was that a M1000RR? that thing looks sweet
I wouldn't drive 5 minutes for a BSA with no compression, that thing is junk. You look pretty in blue, Dave.
Well, I lost some weight. LOL. And for me, its about the stories. Bikes can be fixed and made right.
No Honda CBs ? Only the two?
You mean the 350/4 and the 750? The program shows a CB400/4 and of course the 305s.
Dave, would you ever consider doing a little bio video about yourself and some of your history? I for one would be fascinated to know how you came about your expertise . You are a walking encyclopedia of motorcyle brand knowkedge.
No. I dont think so. I dont see myself as an encyclopedia. There were so many folks now gone that forgot more than I will ever know.
@bullpencycles Ah, but I do . I think it would be fascinating to hear your story.
The Trident will bring stupid money!👍
I cant find it anywhere in the program! I dunno if they're gonna hammer it down! But thanks for watching all the way to the end!
Wailing (?) Jennings?
Waylon, yes
cavear emptor at mecum
The prettiest 'bikes' to me were the servicars. The ugliest was that electric monstrosity.
Yes, I think they tried to copy "Tron" the movie and it doesnt work
Damn Dave...you might know your minibikes, but you sure don't know your motorcycles.
I know nothing! I see nothing!
You put down every single bike like you know what you're talking about when you don't know shit!!!
I pretty much say that in my video trailer.
Those kawasaki's are a joke, the 900 to 1000 were not a very good motorcycles and at best a 7 grand if they are in original factory condition.

I wouldn't take most of that junk for free.

Please use your usual judgement and spare us.
There were a lot of minis in the program that weren't unloaded. I couple that I hoped to see, but you can skip that part!
