Ah, yes, the Canon 100D (the smallest DSLR) + 18-55mm and 55-250mm are great for travelling, I agree!

I was surprised that they don't include it anymore with their budget cameras - I just got a 250d which came with a f/4-5.6 18-55mm IS STM instead. Its smaller at the expense of half a stop at the wide end but it retracts completely at 18mm rather than 35mm on the old lens which is preferable for shooting video.

Yes, odd move from Canon. They probably want to make the Canon 250D smaller (more appealing), nowadays, in the mirrorless era.

I own the version II and I'm surprised how sharp it is in the center at certain focal distances. Not a bad kit lens at all.

Yes, it is and the price range goes from 45 to max. 125 USD on the used market. They don't sell it anymore in camera stores, so that should be the correct price on the used market. Cheers!

Yes, the quiet and fast focusing motor and image stabilization make it a surprisingly good kit lens.
