      Great observation! He doesn’t even seem to care that much of the physical evidence that he has turned out to be debunked. The caller sounds like a typical Dallas frat bro that probably graduated from Texas A&M or Baylor with a degree in “entrepreneurship” and ended up working in an investment firm because the interviewers wanted a Jimmy Fallon look-alike in their office.
    Thanks for embarrassing him on UA-cam DZ!

    Once again the apologist demonstrates that when you start with the conclusion (the Bible is true) and work backwards, you can mentally force the square pegs of your belief into the round hole of reality. It’s the anti-scientific method, or the bizzaro-world scientific method. When you employ this method, the Bible can never be demonstrated to be wrong about anything aka inerrant.

  • @johannesbrahms9528

    • @Finckelstein
      @Finckelstein 2 дні тому

      If anything it's a cumulative case against his religion. And that's only if you don't correctly think that any of those problems completely demolish a supposedly inerrant book.

  • @ednamsgiraffe
    @ednamsgiraffe 2 дні тому +1

    The caller’s first question could have been addressed by the fact that the Christian Bible was built off the framework set out by the Torah and Septuagint. Which was the same thing that he used to call Islam false. So that methodology fails at face value.
    But motive? What motive could the early church fathers have at consolidating power and authority as ordained by their interpretation of “god” in the light of following a “prophet” that failed to demonstrate his coming apocalypse and that didn’t fulfill any of the prophecies that his original religion had held? What motive could a group have in doing that? Yeah, consolidating power and exerting authority. The church fathers would have benefitted from it.

    • @ednamsgiraffe
      @ednamsgiraffe 2 дні тому +1

      Also he keeps wanting to talking about motive. Dude there’s a ton of motive to be at the head of a church.
      Being martyred doesn’t make the faith true otherwise every bomber is truthful. Jim Jordan would be true. It’s such a weak argument.
      And “pure skepticism” is a bs way to dismiss criticism.

  • @JasonHenderson

    7:44 It's not prophecy when it's written in the same book.
    It's not even interesting. It's just expected.
    Like, we're not surprised when Harry Potter meets Voldemort at the end of the movie. The whole movie leads up to their meeting.

    • @VulcanLogic
      @VulcanLogic 2 дні тому +2

      Exactly. And if 100 years from now, someone writes Harry Potter fan fiction, and has their protagonist saying “It does not do well to dwell on dreams and forget to live” and then writes "so that it might be fulfilled," they haven't actually written a prophecy. They're just making a derivative work.

    It's really difficult to take guys like this seriously. Because they are self aware enough and just barely honest enough to go bit by bit, passage by passage and admit each one is on shaky ground... But then they always pull it back to the big picture and say "well it's not just that, it's the whole thing and the sheer number of things that have come true". Right after you've debunked every single point they've brought up. It makes me think this is just a hobby for them, and no amount of evidence will change their mind. I'm sure in reality, they have faith-based, embarrassingly bad reasons for believing, and this is just a face they put on for the public to propagandize. I really really do not like religious apologists, I think they are all dishonest on some level.. but it's guys like this that really have me scratching my head hours after listening just wondering how they could be this obviously wrong yet still find a way to believe.

      I think you misunderstood. Daniel was written in the 2nd century BCE, after the 2nd temple was desecrated by Antiocus IV. This is detailed in 1 Maccabees 1-2, 2 Maccabees 4-6, Daniel 8, and Josephus. Also, any decent study bible will explain it.

    Hello Justin. My de-conversion occurred 5 years ago after I started listening to mythvision, and reading the scholarship of Drs Miller, MacDonald, Carrier, Bowen, to name a few. I’ve watched your videos and I know you take the Godless stand now.
    As a fellow engineer I’m trying to solve the problem of what’s the meaning and purpose of love, hate, music, beauty, ugliness, pleasure, suffering, etc. What really perplexes me is when I see children joyfully playing together, their innocence, and their love of life… i just can’t wrap my head around how this came about evolutionary without a purpose. If you have a plausible answer please shed some light. Thank you for your passion.
