Onboard Crazy Simca Rallye 3 || Rear-Engined 675Kg Monster
- This little Monster is called Simca Rallye 3 and is quite the rare (but very popular) 70´s French Sports Car that has been converted into proper Racing Cars through the years both for Rallying and HillClimb Racing. This one is now powered by a 1300cc Engine unit capable of around 160Hp, moving only 675Kg and driven by Romain Richardeau, who might be the current best driver of these quirky things.
At Osnabruck Bergrennen 2019 it certainly was possibly to see that as he posted a 1:05.889, positioning him above many Lancer Evo, BMW and many other much more powerful machines. And other than that, there´s the tremendous driving style. And for that just watch the Onboard footage. You will get a proper idea on how quick someone can be with something with little over 150Hp and a manual H-Pattern 5-speed Gearbox...
imagine pulling up in an evo and the car you drew in grade 2 goes faster than you
that statment was hilarious.
😀😆😂🤣😃😁
This car exist in french hillclimb Simca 1000 with r5 turbo engine
Driven like he stole it... damn!
👏😳👏
Wow this was one of the best hillclimb car/video/driver I have seen in a very long time!
Thanks ;) We liked its final look for sure, and of course this little Monster helps a lot...
Me Too !!
True French nostalgia: Remember my trips to France in my youth, where I saw a lot of rear-engined Renaults and Simcas tuned insanely, dragging their oilpans over the tarmac because they where lowered at the rear, with puffed wheelarches, racing around on the mountain roads like madmen!
It looks hilarious but drives like (and is driven by) a beast
EVO driver:it's over, my EVO is more powerful and stable than this shitty car!
Romain Richardeau:hold my oversteering 675 kgs.
This was a cool little car. My G35 6 speed 360 hp RWD eats and shits EVO's on the first lap.
Got vid? Show us some video and maybe just maybe we will belive you.
@@kerkouz1211 les types n'y connaissent rien en course de cote,et surtout historique;;;;
We had a little simca back in the 60’s 👌🏻
Great coverage, interesting car, nice driving. Bagging by others... seriously...get a life.
Thanks Greg ;)
What a strange, little car. Sounds good though!
It's a 70's french car, with a BIG engine 😁
@@G.M.. 1.3L is not a big engine 🤔
675 kg, reminds me of the Legend cars they run here in the States. Ones here use motorcycle engines and they're tiny. A lot of fun to watch, this one was pretty sweet too 👍
Fantastique auto et pilote au top Wwwaaooouuuhhhh 👍👍👍👍
This is still a real rally ride. Very good video. Greetings from Austria.
Anyone else thinks that this car looks as if it was made with Legos?
Intimidating Car and Fearless Driver. Watched it all in one breath.
Merci
recon its the slippery low drag co-efficient shape that makes it that quick !!!.
😂😂
Aero-lego....
160bhp, 1300cc... Hayabusa engine, perhaps?
Not on this case. It is a highly tuned version of the original 1000cc Engine.
@@HillClimbMonsters Ah, nice. Thank you for the info!
@@HillClimbMonsters is It still using carburators or has been converted to electronic fuel injection?
Great machine and great video
@@HillClimbMonsters (
@@CarlosGarcia-ze6rt Probably still using carbs. I know an engine tuner specialized in tuning classic mini engines, and on the side he also has some bmw of the 70's and a simca rallye 3. He uses dual 40 DCOE weber, an extremely aggresive camshaft ( around 300° duration), High comp ratio as well as a well thought out cylinder head. It brags around 150 bhp but really won't budge under full throttle below 4000 RPM, and the idle is extremely rough ( anything below 1500 and you feel like the engine is dying). Though, when rev to its nuts ( 9000 RPM, sometimes a bit more) it sounds amazing.
merci
Along with seeing cars that are common in various crazy versions, you guys also find rare gems and this Simca is one of those. What a fast car,but damn, what a driver.Seriously, this is one of the best car/driver combos i've seen on your channel. Thanks for sharing spectacular cars and for daily dose of adrenaline.
Its definitely a 5 speed dogbox though, no clutch upshifting :)
An insane little monster!
Yup the way he changes gears is astonishing...and the fact that he still uses the H-pattern instead of sequential...
looks like a toy. this thing's a gokart with a shell. love it
Nuclear Trabant
Awesome driver! He drives over the limit the whole track! Respect!
Absolutely on the edge of the grip. Amazing!!!
Sticks to the road like shit to a blanket !
Mean little orange ruffy and a very skilled driver 👍
It might be faster if it wasn't literally shaped like a brick.
A friend of mine raced with a similar one 30 years ago. It had around 130 hp back then and great handling.
🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
wtf ..hilarious ,,I like this !
Bloody Hell!! And i didnt even have time to put my harness on.🏴👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Süßes Auto...mit nervösem Popo 😉
Steering wheel to far away: looks like "Go-Go-Gadget-Arms"! 😁🤔
But, very nice machine! 👍🏻
This guy has skill that no body can match even they are give 110% commented he's still faster then most us can do.
It looks awesome and sounds even better, And the driver isn't holding back, he's giving irt all he's got
Wow, I thought this was going to be just another bike engine conversion till I saw the gear changes , and that sound!!! Great drive,
What's the engine in this thing of beauty.
Te owner say It,s the original 1000cc tuned
@@angelvacilon4117 And stroked to 1300cc.
Simca/Talbot
Awesome, way more interesting than a bike powered car.
How is he up shifting without hitting the clutch?
I'm guessing straight cut gears but i'd also like to know.
Corners like it's on rails
Love it how he taps the dash right after the finish line. That's showing appreciation for his little Simca. 😍
Damn, the things we miss out on here in America.
That little angry thing looks fun!
Well you guys are the champions of the big displacement V type engines, that's awesome too :)
@@z-trip5457 I'm not loyal to any platform or displacement--fast is fast. More Americans should appreciate the diversity of speed
Good lord... it handles about as well as it looks...
Damn, that little car is mental!!!
Should win on aerodynamics alone 👍
On the boils. Marvelous driving.
Verry good driving skills!👍
amazing!
Exhaust sound is great!
It Sounds Like A AE86 Trueno
4age more growling, this car more crispy
We had such a car back in 1974 (I was 11 then). It was a 1000 Spécial with 60 hp. We kept it for 4 years. Nothing but trouble and rust. We never solved the cooling issue. Everything was replaced with a Rallye 2 cooling system. No luck. It kept itself at the brink of overheating (110 C). Even with 60 hp it was fast in its day, but dangerous and unreliable. Everything went wrong on it.
I had two Simcas in the late 70s.
Dreadful cooling problems.
@@raypurchase801 Somehow nice to hear that we were not the only ones. My father was a car mechanic and he says it was the only thing ever he was not able to solve. He was genuinly troubled by that (I guess his professional honor was hurt). What made it even more mysterious was that the overheating just started one day, from one moment to the next. Did you find what caused it?
I had two of these Simcas in the late 70s.
I could never overcome their cooling problems.
The only parts of my Simcas which didn't fall apart with rust were the rubber tyres.
Sounds fantastic, my tool shed is more aerodynamic!
Born in 60's. If you find it fun you can search about BMW2002 TI or Escort MKI or MKII or Renault 8 etc... I personnally think that Some of them would be exposed in a art museum . ☺
..been on the rear seat of a stock rally3 when I was a kid, in the late 70's. The brother of a school friend of mine had one... he drove (fast) the kids for fun on the road... It was a different but MARVELOUS era. This car was our absolute dream, It was a real popular sport car, with NO electronics at all : engine, wheels, steering & brakes and you... miss this era...
Ok so I saw a similar comment, hes only using the clutch when hes backshifting, and he appears to feather it several times too, but as he rows thru the gears, no clutch. I dont know much about this car, Im curious if thats the “norm” or not? I was waiting to see some heel/toe as well, but this guy didnt need it. Exceptional driving and course knowledge, great vid!
tommorow i will go to police station to give them back my driving licence.....when they ask why, I'll tell them "because i dont know how to drive"...hat down to this driver.....
My dad had a 1.3 with carbs
Cud not do it. That's why I watch. Thank god there's crazy bastards out there.
Design think me Fiat 131 or R8 Gordhini.
[Serious] Wouldn't a rear wing prevent the rear end from sliding out the corners?
Piotr Chylarecki Yes, but given the car has not that much power it would also impact straight line performance too much. So the best solution is to drive it on the limit of traction and have as less drag as possible when accelerating 😉
Where's the fun in that?
....and has the aerodynamics of a brick :D
Boîte 5 ? Hewland ?
Bravo
What's the type of gearbox is he using ? Is that a kind of semi-automated upshifting gearbox ?? Because he only used the clutch for down shifting, or he's actually so good that he got the perfect timing for shifting without clutch ???
I know him and yes he got the perfect timing when he push the engine at +8000rpm 😉
Looks bit like a hillman imp, also rear motored and square looking
Looks like Fiat, Murad 124 or Zhiguli
That is s super talented individual. Exceptionally quick.
Looks like a Minecraft version of a bmw 2002
There was always a handful of these rallye 1 2 or 3 when I went to hillclimbs ten years ago, they were my favorites !
Sadly they are becoming rarer nowadays
Spettacolare.
This color on a boosted Starlet GT Turbo would be Awesome.
looks like it handles great, would it be better or worse if the engine was mounted up front?
They stole my car design from a 3rd grade sketch.
Greetings from Russia, we also look.
Look at the front tyres flying in the air while cornering ( 2:04 )
Clutchless Upshift..that's mad.
It looks suspiciously similar to a Lada...
Very nervous the small boy!!!!!!!!!
Vertigo racing in the play store..
When you have 1 arm almost completly extended to reach the wheel in a turn you are making a sacrifice in control
Nah it's called knowing the car and its limits.
Car looks and goes awesome .. respect ..
I'm just scared. At the same time, it is my ideal.
It looks like I could lift this thing onto the trailer
Nasty little car
Man this car is nuts.
How tf does he shift not using the clutch when shifting up but uses it shifting down?? It's not sequential but..?? whut
its a dogbox transmission : you don't need to press the clutch to upshift
Mola mucho ese Simca
Mr. Beans car on steroids.
Wow! That thing is a weapon!!
