I agree with the overall assessment. One of the best Smackdowns of the year. Great talking segments, great matches with unexpected winners, awesome debut by Jacob Fatu, hot crowd. Everything on this show either advanced a story, or had meaningful purpose.
Usually its just his tone, when wwe, hes all, eh, when aew, its Brian, OMG.that match!! and thats absolutely fine, you prefer it, just be up front. Was listening to a show covering 1989, reading Daves reviews, the absolute disdain he had for wwf, literally writing, noone expects any good matches from wwf, all lousy, 1 star ratings, etc, while Japan, of course, best thing on the planet. 1989 was a record business year for wwf, Just shows, he says a journalist covering the business, when reality is he wants it to be what he prefers or craps on it. Its an entertainment business, not a real sport, and he hates wwe proved his vision of great matches alone sells wrong decades ago. Everyone, including Brian, says Smackdown a great show, didnt once hear Dave say it, cause he didnt get a " 6 star " match, cause thats all he cares about.
Jacob does not need to be getting beat so soon, either. Unless they plan on putting the championship, keep him away from a one on one Cody match for now.

The best smackdown this year bar none. Drew looked like a freaking Viking(no diss to the Scots) and how everyone just looked in disbelief and slick fear. And i can't say enough about Fatu thats already been said and then some. Punk and Pauls reunion i was happy to see and have also seen coming since their first reunion back together when Roman was still around. Chicago turned Chelsea Green babyface instantly and Andrade got his biggest pop ever that you'd never hear when he was at AEW. LA Knight continues to amaze, Santos was the only one that didnt get as much crowd reaction which is surprising in that town. Jade and Bianca will get those belts back...too early to split them way too early. They gotta give Bailey a little more respect (my only REAL complaint)

The commentary called him the family member the sane ones want nothing to do with, him destroying 3 top stars by himself, the Tongans body language when they came back in the ring. He's a bad mfer that even Samoans and Tongans fear. The rest of the story you have to tune in for.
I didn't like how Jacob destroyed all 3 top guys singlehandedly. Have Cody make a comeback, then Solo gets the spike in, & then do the table spot. Jacob went Super Saiyan on all 3 of them.

I'm not going to fully dismiss the man as a result...I obviously need to see more of his work but I just wanted to share my impressions since it differs from the wider IWC. This version feels so forced and on a personal level reeks of the worst kind of nepotism. Fans need a break from the bloodline not for it grow even larger when it has even less interesting stars in it.
Just buying time for Roman to get back and tie it all to The Rock being the actual leader of this group. Slow build to war games and wrestlemania I reckon.
