    Years ago, I sang in a choir, so I naturally want to know the lyrics. I danced improv as well, and I matched and emphasized the lyrics in my movements. I enjoy how you do the same. It just makes sense!

    • @meiraloraduncan8953
      @meiraloraduncan8953 2 місяці тому +1

      Thank you for putting into words the exact thing I was trying to express. I can't read sheet music on sight. If I wanted to learn how to play anything on a piano or flute I have to literally write the notes on the sheet music. In choir, both in church and in school we were given the lyrics on a piece of paper or booklet and over time we memorized them and didn't need the paper. A weird twist is that with some songs I can't tell you the lyrics if I don't have the music or I am in a different setting from where I normally practiced or sang them. But then with some I have no problem. The brain can work so differently in each person.

    Do you think in words while you dance? Or do you practices feeling it?
    I have a suspicion that moving your body to bars and beats uses the same parts of the brain that breaks speech down into sentences and words.
    Especially since you're paying attention to the way each phrase starts and ends.
    So, listening to the lyrics here would be kind of like patting your head in a belly rubbing competition.

    I'd like to draw your attention to an ancient old British nursery rhyme called Ring a ring a roses. A sweet, charming lullaby tune, the words actually refer to the red, ring shaped rash present in the final stages of bubonic plague. Nice!

    • @susancraft7749
      @susancraft7749 2 місяці тому +1

      Do you mean…… ring around the Rosie, pocket full of posies. Ashes ashes , we all fall down?? Well that is from the plague times. It wasn’t a sleep lullaby….. it was a game sort of that youngsters played……. Cuz they were scared of the sickness. Ring around the rosey does refer to the rash the rosey get. You got a rosey complexion when you were sick. Ppl carried flowers in their pockets for two reasons …… as a talisman to keep the sickness away and they threw flowers on the dead cuz … they stunk. Yikes. Ashes ashes. They burned the bodies. We all fall down….. we are all getting it

    • @susancraft7749

      There are a lot of songs like this in Scottish and Irish folk. Loch Lomond sounds like a lullaby, but is actually about one of the worst kinds of torture I have ever heard about. And then there is Hush, hush, time to be sleeping and Skye boat song, just to name a few.

      Many old children's nursery rhymes actually have some creepy origin to them. IIRC, "white Christmas" was written by a guy who had been institutionalized, & was dreaming about spending Christmas at home with his family.

    • @celiacooper4760
