How they do this improv is all, literally, unbelievable. Surely they had to have had a little chitchat about what they were going to do. I find it incredible that they just happened to be so much on the same wavelength that all of this just “happened”.
No chit chat at all. What you’re seeing at the beginning is exactly when we found out we’d be dancing together. We improv through physical connection, she can feel what I’m asking her to do and vice versa.
There are basic patterns, well practiced connection skills, technical lead and follow skills-for example for spins or “rides” or leans, compression and leverage skills, and a vocabulary of moves. Putting it all together, creating moves on the spot to express the music, and feeling and watching your partner for cues happens after a lot of floor time.
Thing is, it didn’t all “just happen”, these are people who have spent a loooooot of time learning and practicing. Not just dancing, the improv part (especially random partner) is a crazy special skill and what we get to see is the result of a lot of hard work. It’s definitely mad impressive. A lot of his videos go into some explanations on how partners learn to vibe together and work off each other super quickly and stuff, it’s a very fun rabbit hole!
Of all Keerigan's dances, this is my absolute favorite dance & dance partner combination. I am in awe of the synchronization, the apparent emotional dance connection, and creativity between both of them. Keerigan is the ulimate lead and Giulia is such a creative, flexible & entertaining partner. They are so fun to watch.
