Merry Christmas everyone. I hope everyone has a nice holiday season filled with friends and family. As is tradition on the channel, I try to post a full flight close to Christmas where there are plenty of decorations around the airports. This year, the airport whose decorations are featured is Tulsa International Airport! Enjoy!
@@mikeenyart and? It's okay to say Merry Christmas and wish people happy holidays before it's Christmas Day. I only upload full flights on Saturday's and Wednesday's. So this is the closest full upload to Christmas Day.
Well, there are certainly worse airports to have stopovers at. That said, the LAS airport is basically a giant casino, so keep y our wallet close haha.
Love you plane Videos, Could you make some videos that feature exclusively the airports you are at? Like video walkthroughs of the terminals? That would be wonderful!
That has been suggested before. I've just never really had time to do any. Since my channel is focused around the flights, I generally try to fly as much as I can on each day as possible. So, I'm not often left with a lot of extra time at the airports. I will keep it in mind though if I ever have time.
I'll tell you, SW wins hands down when it comes to having the best X-Mas decorations at the airport. Anyhow, LOTS of spectacular views on this flight. I think I saw the Pioneer Woman's Ranch!! Looks like you flew by Taos, NM. My GF and I wee there in late December 2006. Yes, we visited the Taos Pueblo. And TERRIFIC views of the Grand Canyon!! I did STL to LAS back in late December 1998. We went over southern KS and went right over the Grand Canyon. I even got some shots of it from the plane. That view of the GC was a prelude for me because a month and a half later, I visited the GC for the first time in early 1999. It was my 40th Birthday and being at the South Rim was the perfect way to celebrate it. Later, in 2005 and in 2009, my GF and I visited the GC. We have some frost on the ground with the sun out today. I contrast this to a year ago today when this whole area was completely shut down from an ice storm, something that's never supposed to happen here. Jeez, even the FERRIES stopped running! Nothing was open and certainly not any of the schools. We were quite literally in the Deep Ice Freeze here. If you had tried to come here back then, your flight would've been positively cancelled. All of the runways were closed. Well, anyhow, just 2 more days till Christmas. I have all of my presents wrapped up, ready to go. I got 5 different gifts for my GF and during Hanukkah, I gave her more gifts on top of that. Back in 2017, we had BOTH a White Christmas Eve AND a White Christmas Morning with over 3 inches of snow on the ground. My GF built a snow woman on our front lawn. This was an extraordinarily rare occurrence here, but it happened 6 years ago. 2 years ago, we got clobbered with 7 inches of snow on the day after Christmas. It paralyzed this whole area and countless people were stranded on the highways and freeways trying to get back home from Grandma's House.
Southwest definitely does win the decorating contest haha. They almost always have some type of decorations up for whatever holiday is around the corner. In January when I head down there for my first trip of 2024, I bet they have Valentines Day stuff up. I just heard on the radio while driving (don't worry I'm not now 😂) that there is going to be very few places in the contiguous US that has a white Christmas. Last year, as you mentioned about the PNW, the whole country was in some type of winter weather warning. We had the first white Christmas in like 20 years here. It's currently rainy and about 55 degrees here.
@@sla31 Yes, the El Nino is starting to kick in. One of my FB friends said it was warm and humid in Tulsa today. It's in the 40s here, which is normal for this time of year. This past week, storms aimed at us have been breaking up while California has been hit with them. This is an El Nino winter pattern for the West Coast. We could have a very warm and mild January next month. Back in 2010, we had an El Nino. It was so warm in January here that my GF was making fruit smoothies, something she doesn't usually do until the summer. That was when they had very little snow up in Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and they actually has to import it. Anyhow, no White Christmas is expected here this year. Back in 2008, we did indeed have one and we had an ever better one in 2017. So... we'll see of my GF makes any fruit smoothies next month.
@@sla31Thank you so much, it really means a lot to me. This is our first field trip on an airplane and cannot wait for exploring Washington DC in 2024!
Not sure if you heard this or not (may have been announced when you were on your epic trip)......Breeze Airways pulled out of Tulsa......TUL was one of their launch airports...sad.
Yes, I saw that. That's unfortunate. Unfortunately, Tulsa is a really tough market for low cost carriers, as fares are generally super cheap out of there anyway. See, with American having their maintenance headquarters there. Which, by the way, it's the largest single aircraft maintenance facility anywhere in the world. Anyway, because that is there, American floods the market with TONS of seats because they run tons of mainline aircraft through there for maintenance to be done. Back when the 757 was still around, they'd use 757's on the TUL-DFW route just to have MEL's cleared while in Tulsa. Now, it's not quite as bad, but they still run tons of 737's and A321's through Tulsa. So, there are a lot of seats available out of Tulsa which means all of the prices come down. Which isn't a bad problem for the consumer to have, but it means that airlines like Breeze tend to struggle here.
SWA's performance software will always drive a reduced thrust takeoff if the stopping margin and climb gradient requirements allow for it. TUL in the winter on 36R will almost always be a reduced thrust T/O. If you notice, they rotated before the AA MX hangars, so they would have had vast stopping margin in the event of a reject at V1.
Well, they have been doing a lot of renovations lately. So, much of the main open area looks a little different now than it used to. Thanks for watching my friend!

Great fly! Have you heard 2600 workers from Airbus got food poisoning during Christmas dinner?
I didn't see that. That stinks. Food poisoning is no joke. The sickest I've ever been was once from food poisoning.

How do you film so steady?!
I film everything you see on my channel by hand. So, the answer is really just 8 years of practice haha.
44:40 - A lot of crop circles to the bottom left
Literal circles of crops haha.

What is TUL???
TUL is the airport code for Tulsa International Airport in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
umm im pretty sure its a 737-700.
Yup, sure is. That’s why it says 737-79P in the title 😁.
