*This makes my old motor look like a toy **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it's well built. I haven't had it on the water yet, but I'm very sure it will perform just fine.*
Hey Ryan, you rock and you saved me from throwing my remote in the water. Every other video I watched on pairing my remote to my terrova got me chasing my tail in circles. Yours was the only one that gave me the proper sequence where you press the pair on the remote first and then press the pair button on the motor. I did it your way and easy peasy japanesy just like it was suppose to work. Thanks loads...
What is the best settings on the remote control for AP 120 so it won't drift left and right when spot locked? They say - 2. What other settings need to be adjusted or change to accommodate to a kayak and not a boat. Thanks 👍
It would have been nice if you would have told us also how to reset the mini Kota motor back to factory reset should the motor not be responding properly. I'm sure people make errors by pushing many buttons because they don't understand how the remote works as there is no manual that comes with the system at least mine didn't have one. A video on how to reset to factory reset would be a greatly appreciated and I'm sure would be a great value to many who own the autopilot 120 or 136
Man I like this better than my Ulterra Remote..... All Remotes should be Battery Controlled vs Charged in my opinion. Much easier to just pop in new batteries vs taking the darn thing from around your neck that you use more than your Boat Steering Wheel and letting it charge while you now run back and forth to your Fish Finder to operate your trolling motor.
Hello so glad to finally be a part of the old town family My wife and I just purchased brand new autopilot 120's and we are interested in getting the Minn kota pucks to be able to use side jog and I was talking to another guy who just put one on his and he said he had talked to you was just wondering where you recommend putting it on the autopilot 120 I know that if you don't put it in the right place it can get interference and he said you were the guy to talk to thank you and look forward to your answer if you have any photos of where you put it that would be best if you don't mind thank you
Hi there! The Minn Kota heading sensor will come with detailed installation instructions. We've seen them mounted on the bow and on the side near the waterproof hatch and both locations performed well. The most important factor is making sure the sensor is aligned and facing the bow of the kayak.
Is this unit able to connect to my hummingbird electronics like the linked in models or is it upgradable to be able to take advantage of these advantages?
When using the Go-To feature to go to a saved Spotlock position, it would kick in at maximum speed. This is quite dangerous when it has to spin the Kayak around. How can I adjust the speed to ramp up slowly and also set my preferred maximum speed when using this feature?
Great video and much needed info. Question: when using the spotlock, my kayak tends to turn in a direction I’m not wanting it to face is this something I can correct?
I've seen this mentioned before. Typically it is the wind that causes this. Try facing into the wind, that will prevent the kayak from wanting to turn. The iPilot will only keep the nose of the kayak in position, similar to a front anchor. Alternately, you could use a rear anchor or Power Pole Micro to anchor the rear to keep it from spinning, then use the Spot Lock to lock in the front. I think the same principles apply in current, too.
Great question Lamar! Kevin hit on some great points in his comment. In order to hold the kayak in a heading, including when Spot Locked, you'll need to add the heading sensor puck covered in the last segment of this video. The puck gives your unit a second point of reference, allowing you to hold position and unlock features like Jog and Advanced AutoPilot. Without the heading sensor puck, your unit only has one point of reference, so it's going to hold the motor as close to the GPS point as possible, and the hull will rotate around that point or face into the wind or current. As Kevin mentioned, you can also accomplish this with a shallow water anchor, such as a Micro Power Pole, mounted on the stern. The AutoPilot comes will a pre-drilled mounting location for a shallow water anchor.
Hi sir, could you help? I have autopilot 136 and having issues with my spot lock. My spot lock won’t stay on the spot and keep moving, the head keep spinning then it stop and spot lock won’t lock again. Is there a way to get this fixed? I’m crappie man and can’t keep my spot lock same spot is hard.
Hey there! Please shoot us an email at feedback@oldtowncanoe.com or drop us a line at 800-343-1555 and one of our staff members will be happy to help you.
Try holding down both the increase and decrease speed buttons for 1+ seconds. If this doesn't work, give our Customer Service team a call at 1-800-343-1555.
The motor is deployed by pulling a cord next to the seat and securing it in a cleat. To lift the motor, you simply pull the cord up and out of the cleat and it will pop up on its own.
Humm...just took my new 120 out today for the first time....left and right arrows did not work. Was a bit frustrating but figured it must be user error and there must be something I am not aware of...doesn't appear to be the case. The motor would track straight and then all of a sudden take a sharp left turn on its own. I'll give it another go and see what happens. It's only a few hours old so shouldn't be doing this.
Garry, we’re sorry to hear that you are having issues with your remote. If you need assistance please give us a call at 800-343-1555 and our team will help you out.

Thanks Ryan, I didn't know about the cruise control.
Very detailed and easy to follow video! Loving the content, keep it coming!
Omg I love this. I can’t wait to get the Autopilot 120!
The I-Track feature is amazing. 👨💻 🚣♂️
A lot to absorb here. Well done.

Good info...but how did you get the orange rubber side pads on the remote?
The ulterra remote shows the boats battery charge but does it show the remote battery levels? Great video other wise.

How do I check GPS syndrome on my remote control
Hi Ryan can you change the name on your recorded I-track or spot lock Thank Denys
You cannot change the name of a saved track or spot lock.
Is there a way to permanently turn off the beeps when changing speeds/engaging prop?

How do I use the I pilot to trim my motor up an down
Does the trolling motor have to be powered on in order for the remote to power on?
No, the remote will turn on when the motor is not on, however they will not pair unless both the motor and remote are powered on.
How do you get the motor to drop in the water after you launch it
The motor is deployed by pulling a cord next to the seat and securing it in a cleat. To lift the motor, you simply pull the cord up and out of the cleat and it will pop up on its own.
great video thanks
My remote tells me there is an update available but is not allowing me to update... Please give the procedure to update remote motor ipilot...
quando chega ao Brasil?
Can I upgrade the Minn Kota iPilot to Ipilot link to hook up to my Helix 7?
That is not available at this time.
What is the procedure to trim the motor up or down ?
Hi there, once deployed, you cannot trim or adjust the height of the motor.
I just got the 136 whats the range of the remote ?
The maximum range of the iPilot remote Bluetooth connection is 30ft.
@@OldTownCanoeKayak and will it reconnect when it comes back into range or will the system need to be powered down then turned on to connect again?
Duc said you didn't catch his good side.
HAHA!

Doesn’t float? Minn kota is terrible.
