    We've whittled down the list to THREE of my favorite overdrives in the shop and are shooting them out for you. ...but which would YOU choose!?
    First, the Bondi Effects Sick As mkIII , which makes a fantastic clean boost, low-gain "always-on" style overdrive, or rich mid-gain overdrive. It's one of the best Klon-style overdrives out there but is really its own thing, and a good one at that!
    Available in our exclusive peach color way here - www.littleboxe...
    Next up is the Benson Preamp pedal, a near-instant classic with its very amp-like response and texture. It goes clean to mean with lots of warmth and sensitivity. If you want an overdrive pedal that can border on fuzz at higher gain settings, the Preamp is a fantastic choice.
    Available in our exclusive powder blue sparkle color way here - www.littleboxe...
    Finally, the Browne Amplification Carbon v2 - a recent favorite on my board and a versatile clean boost, low-gainer that has tons of clarity and sparkle. New to the v2 is the high-cut toggle, giving either subtle or dramatic smoothing to the top end at the flip of a toggle. It's compact and sounds fantastic!
    Available in either black or blue here - www.littleboxe...
    Which would YOU pick?! Drop a comment below with your thoughts or any questions you have about these three. And thanks for supporting Little Box!

      It's an all-time favorite of mine. Love the Sick As , and you're right it does "stay together" in a nice way.

      it's a really great drive. Been using it on and off on my boards for some time - love the articulation you can get with it!

    It’s really hard to pick a favorite. I can see myself using the three of them interchangeably or even stacking them in different combinations.

      Totally! They’re all pretty complementary. I cycle through them as well and kind of swap in and out as needed. They all stack quite well too!

    I have a Browne Anplification Protein, which includes the Carbon, but I have to say that my favourite from your sounds samples is the Benson Preamp.

      it's a really great OD. It just has some characteristics and textures I don't find from some of my other drives. The low-end presence from that bass control is kind of a love/hate for me, but for some guitars/rigs it really does a cool thing. Thanks for watching!

    Wow, they all sound great, but the Carbon takes it for me.

    Awesome shoot out! Reminds me I need to stop sleeping on Browne Amplification... haha. The real star of the show here for me though is that 68 custom pro reverb your playing through... it sounds insane!

      Carbon is so good. And man yea, I fell back in love with the Pro Reverb. A great pedal platform too!

    This year I bought a Benson Preamp, a Benson Germanium Boost, a Sick As and a Protein. I'm very happy about it! My only problem, my pedaboard is no longer big enough to hold everything 😅

      hey thanks for watching! hard for me to pick a favorite, but the Benson arguably has the most range of the three. I love how it can almostttt get into fuzz territory.

    Hey Andrew, I have your shop saved on Reverb! Definitely pick something soon. Another GREAT builder in Melbourne, Australia is Darron at DAZATRONYX. Several hand built pedals of different flavors, some are even point 2 point.
    One more shoutout is Ralf at WAT?! (Wonderful Audio Technology) in Redlands, California. The Fuzzlands pedal and Ancient Echos (which you have on the Reverb store already) are superb and very well built.
    As far as the pedals in this video… the Bondi is very interesting to me.
    Great video as always ❤🙏🏻

    well here we go another persons idea of a better or improved pedal instead of coming up with something fresh like maybe the new earth quaks devices roar just as one example , im always looking for the next big od pedal not a play on a ts9 or 808 or a klon ect....but i just do not care about some else's version of an already been made sound. i dont mind amp in a box type pedals because there is so many ways to develop those types of sound, i just recently bought the mad professor ;od and proud for the second time because i feel i didnt give it enough time the first time i owned , but your talking about a marshall sound jtm 45 to plexi with a on board fuzz thats what i look for combined pedals i love em especially true od and fuzz, the thev new up and coming builders should at least be in a originality state of mind.

      that's the beauty of having 1000s of options I guess :) For folks that like the "classics" but don't love certain things about them, I think there's a place for refined or boutique versions of said effects. The Bluesbreaker circuit in particular is a great example - I've played originals and there are some definite sweet spots to that pedal and a ton of unusable range on most of it. Having a modernized / refined version of that pedal is appealing to me as it's a sound I use all the time. But like I said , to each their own, and it's cool companies like EQD are doing more left-field ideas in contrast.

    The Sick As sounds the best, yet there's something voodoo about the sound of the Benson I prefer, which means I have to also buy the Sick As now...

    This will seem stupid maybe, but you can just turn down your volume or level of dirt on any old school drive or distortion, no?

    • @LittleBoxEffects
      @LittleBoxEffects  8 місяців тому

      Sure, that’ll sometimes accomplish a nice low gain setting but some pedals aren’t designed with a gain taper that allows for great tones from low to high. Some are more focused in on a certain gain range and excel there. These don’t really do distortion, but I find them to be great for low to mid-gain sounds.

    love your videos, but, this time... I think all 3 sound really close... or even the same. I only have (and I'm happy with) the benson preamp, but I think I don't need one of the two others... I have a boost pedal and an eq for my benson premamp, it's enough...

    • @LittleBoxEffects
      @LittleBoxEffects  9 місяців тому

      totally , they certainly can sound similar. I think to me the bondi sits somewhere in the middle, while the Benson was a bit more hair/raggedness...and the Carbon v2 is quite bright and articulate If you want it to be...arguably the most hi-fi sounding.
