Greetings from Pune India. Iam 60+ and RA+. Iam doing Yog postures for the last 25 years. When I started doing it I didn't had any problem. The problem started from 2010 with Chikungunya infection. But my Yog Guru pulled me out of those difficult days. I can't do perfect postures as I used to do, but I do practice regularly. Some ladies from my RA support grp wanted to do some exercise but didn't know what to do. I shared my experience and offered to teach them as I was trained by my Guru to teach. Last two years we do on line exercises and simple Yog postures thrice a week on line. We all feel good, pain is less, stiffness is reduced, energy level is increased. Our Rheumatologists are also happy with us. Doc thanx your advice and exercises taught here are confirmed we are on proper line.

Thanks very much for the doable exercises for RA patients...
I'd appreciate if you have exercises to rid the swelling of knees upwards and pain in the calf muscles. If you say the exercises mentioned above will help reduce that even .. then I am going to do them regularly from now on...I am 68 years old.🙏
I'm glad to hear that you found the exercises helpful! In general, exercises that focus on strengthening the leg muscles and improving flexibility can be helpful in reducing knee swelling and calf muscle pain. Examples of such exercises include low-impact activities such as cycling, swimming, or water aerobics. Additionally, gentle stretches and foam rolling can help to relieve muscle tightness and improve range of motion.
However, it's essential to remember that it's crucial to work within your own limits and not to overexert yourself, especially given your age and medical condition. It's best to start with low-intensity exercises and gradually increase the intensity and duration over time.
Holy Moly, I had bones pop that hadn't popped in years. Man did that feel good! ❤
That feeling of relief when your bones pop after not popping for ages is so satisfying!

I observe pain on my neck and lumbar, i wanted to know that can this be cure if i do exercise daily?
It's great that you're considering daily exercise! While it's always best to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice, regular exercise can help improve flexibility and strength, which may alleviate some discomfort.
@ Mam can you please help with this i am suffering from these problem since 2019-20 and the affected area is increasing to several joints and muscles what should i do to get rid of this. It’s very frustrating.

A few weeks ago, I could have done these easier after a regimen of prednisone. I'd say the swelling and pain in my joints was down approximately 20%. Now, off the prednisone, it's where it was before.
4 months ago, it was just my left arm, wrist, fingers, elbow and shoulder and starting a little on the right arm. Now, it's completely both arms, neck, back, hips, thighs, knees, ankles and feet. I'm determine not to take the methotrexate that the doctor gave me. I need to do this another, safer way. It pisses me off, that when I made that appointment to see that specialist, or any other in the area, the waiting time is 4 months. I could have been treated sooner, if the policies were different.
So here I am, starting the exercises and working on gut health nutrition. Could be a long road.
Thank you
My rheumatologist prescribed Enbrel which completely managed the RA issues but, I eventually was sick with nausea several nights a week. I quit Enbrel and quit going to the rheumatologist. Within six months I started having RA symptoms but mistakenly went to my orthopedic surgeon who didn’t recognize the problem for what it was. Eventually, I had to eat crow and wait months for an appointment with the rheumatologist. My suggestion is continue visiting a rheumatologist even if you don’t want to take the Rx. It’s important to keep the relationship and monitoring. You may eventually decide the drug is less of a problem than not having a life.
@@jeanettelloyd8898 the real problem with doctors in most fields, is that instead of trying to find the cause, they just want to push the meds. And with these heavy meds (I'm currently taking Rinvoq), they can cause more damage than any good.
Hlo maam...i m suffering from AS ...Can you give advice on what kind of bed should be used for sleeping patients of Ankylosing Spondylitis? Please tell the name of that bed, so that the body is not crooked?
I am not really sure what kind of bed to recommend you, but I know a firm mattress should be helpful
@@rheumatologistoncall The doctor once advised me to sleep on a hard bed so that the body does not become crooked and remains straight... Thank you for your advice maam

My RA Factor is 167 also ESR and ANYICCP are around 200. Doctor told me that you are suffering from RA but i have one question..my pain is in only left leg starting from back. May I know should i go with another doctor's suggestion or is it good as i heard this RA is only related to joint pain..but I'm not sure wether my one left leg pain is due to joint or not since pain is in whole left leg only.
