    Patchy beards need at least 4 months to show what they can achieve. By then look at your beard and carefully decide which style suits you the best according to it's density. Just keep short or shave the weak parts of it and keep well groomed the strongest. Love what you have and rock it.

      Bingo man. Everyone is different and when guys give up on their beard after only a couple of weeks, it makes me sad. Gotta let it grow to see what you got!

      Depends on the patchy beard. You can't put the same time frame on all beards... Patchy or otherwise

      Sounds true mate my beard was not looking so good at 3-4 weeks mark until I hit the 5 -6month mark and it was looking way better and thicker at that period of time .So beard takes time to grow Promise yourself that u would not give up before 6 month mark ....and u will be amazed what you can grow...

    I'm currently 22 and growing out my beard for the first time. I never grew it out before because it's pretty patchy. I'm currently about 2 months into my beard growth and what I have noticed so far is that the longer the beard gets the more the patches start to fill in and get covered up. I'm hoping that by months 4 or 5 that most of or all the patches will be covered up. All that to say that you never really know if you can grow a beard or not unless you give it a try, just let it grow for a few months without trimming it and you might find that you can actually grow a decent beard just like me, I never thought I could grow one before I gave it a real chance to show its potential.

    I am a fellow patchy beardsman, and I have been on the beard train for about a year and a half or more. Everything Eric says in this video is right on point. Most importantly is #5. I have seen a major difference in my beard since when I first started and was uneducated on beard care. Great video for us patchies.

      Naaa, I think that Jeff´s beard is better, because of the crazy mustache he has. What Carlos on the other hand has is, that he still maintains thick and full hair, while having such a dense beard. Jeff is kind of balding which Carlos isnt, but it suits Jeff.

    My beard is patchy... especially around the sides. Personally I'm 6 months into growing around my goatee area and I've recently let the rest grow in for about 2 months now. Although it's not a great looking beard I'm happy to just grow it out, rock what I've got and sources like beard brand really give those of not naturally blessed with great beard DNA a lot of encouragement. Thanks Eric and the team.

    🙌🏼 Preach! 🙌🏼 I am my own worst critic, I believe I should be president of the patchy beard club. No matter the nice compliments I’m getting on the beard growth, I still have self doubts on the growth and look. I’m 45, first time beard grower, I’m in my 3rd month and I wince at the areas I wish would grow in from one day to the other. Thanks to videos and forums like this right here, keeps my trimmer and shave blade away in the cabinet for another day.

    What I did was: Keep trimming your beard but never shave it right at the skin. I am doing this for like 6 months now. At the start my beard seemed rather patchy at some places. But now there are hairs growing out at these patchy places that I thought would never grow. Just don't shave it all off. Give these patchy places some time. There might be some hair coming out of them reaally really slowly. As said, I'm 6 months in and its still getting thicker and fuller. Very slowly, but it does.

    You're beard is one of the best looking in my opinion brother. Growing my beard 6 weeks in and my fiance is touching it non stop. I bought your beard balm and oil I also bought a brush and mustache comb. A little growing tip I've noticed with my beard is to wash with a facial scrub (good quality) like teige Hanley and moisturize at night with organic extra virgin coconut oil. My beard feels thicker and looks healthier.

    Well, the thing is, for example, if your cheeks are very patchy, only longer beard can cover that, and short would look ugly. Like trying to pull something that you can't.
    It's nice when you have full coverage, so you can wear it short or long...but with patchy beard, only longer beard is the option if you want it full.

    I was under the assumption that if I trimmed back what I have the rest of the slower growing hairs would catch up and fill in some of those spots. Is there something to this or should I just not trim it at all. I was going to trim it back a little at a time so I get segmented growth intervals as opposed to continuous growth with no trimming in between.

    A well-kept patchy beard is better than a baby-face. My moustache came in first, followed by the hairs around the chin for a goatee/circle beard. It takes time. Few people are going to look like Jesus or even Gandalf in high school. At 24, I still don't have thick sideburns that connect to my scalp hair. Does it bother me? No. In the words of Eric Hermit de Frog, LET IT GROW.

      TheBearded Cyclist So true. Right now I can only grow a chinstrap. And it's basically invisible at a distance due to my light brown hair. But that little amount completely changes my face. Every guy should at least maintain a 1 or 2 guard face stubble.

    I’m 17 and I let my beard grow out in November (no shave november) and it was pretty thick but still patchy and it doesn’t connect to where my goatee almost connects to my mustache which I hated. But I’m also growing my hair on my head out and idk why I was dumb and cut it off without thinking hair grows like half an inch per month so why would I think it’s not growing anymore if it’s only been one month. So now i’ve been growing it out again for 2 weeks or so and i’m gonna let it grow out until probably May when I graduate.
    I also know that eventually it’s gonna connect because I have those little light colored hairs all over and some are really light black. My dad couldn’t even grow a mustache until he was 21, he could only grow a goatee. So I have no idea how I can already almost achieve a full beard.

    Hi beardbrand I grew my beard for 3 month loved the way it looked & was quite happy but I got a ingrowing hair that I couldn't stop picking that made a hole in the beard which looked horrendous,I shaved it down 2 short stubble & it's been about 3 weeks but the hole is still there. The biggest mistake you can do, is not try minoxidil (not oil, get any brand) for a better beard

      Ya, we were really screwing the pooch by having all these popups over the faces at the end. We've got a few videos still in the queue that don't have the new outro, but come a couple of weeks they'll all have a final screen like this. Hopefully it helps people discover other videos and engage with the community.

    My left cheek is patchy and the right isn’t.
    The left side of my neck grows straight down but the right grows to the side towards my ear lol
    I’ve never grown a beard longer than a month so this will be my first time and it’ll be interesting.
    Hopefully I can tame that right side lol

    My barber tells me I have patches where nothing will grow, but I just mostly leave it alone, and still get compliments. At this time, I don't want to trim it to accommodate the patches.

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  7 років тому

      It also looks like you have a pretty long beard, so i'm sure you can't see the patches anyways.

      Patchy parts are on the cheeks. I let it grow, don't line it up, and if anyone notices they don't say anything. My goal is for the bulk of the bottom to cover my second shirt button. Almost there, and it is a work in progress -- probably always will be.

    Let's make patchy beards the look for 2017! I'm growing mine! I'll try to update my profile pictures once I reach my goal... I would love to see the stages of growth of a big mustache like Eric's I've been trying to grow mine but it gets so annoying that I end up trimming it thinking it won't grow as much, but not sure yet. I may need to let it grow for a while to see... thanks for the video!

    Hi..Eric...Hope you are doing good...I have watched almost all your videos..and hats of to your beard..It's an awesome beard...!!! I'm truly inspired with your beard...you are an awesome teacher when it comes to beard grooming and growing solutions...!!
    However I have a problem with my beard..that is my beard is not only patchy but it is not uniform that is i can see huge thickness in my left cheek and jaws as compared to my right cheek and jaw...And that too even after one month of beard growth and hair is connecting to my chin from my mustache on the right side but on the left side there is no such growth..my chin is completely bald...How can I overcome this..!! I also have observed the overall health of my hair some hairs are very straight and some are very curly...Which looks very shabby..!! Can i ever grow a smooth thicker beard and mustache like you...!! kindly advice...!!

    I've heard that peppermint oil actually helps, and is better than 3% minoxidil?

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  7 років тому +1

      +EM zee did you hear that from a peer reviewed scientific journal or just from others?

    I always thought about this method about mixing Minoxidil in Beard Oils, Like add a Few Drops in Beard oil and use i daily like a Beard Oil, Hmmm i wonder if anyone thought about it lol

      I think that product would have to be marketed as a 'drug' rather than cosmetics. But not a bad idea!

    Hi Eric, is it safe to assume that any brand or kind of facial cleansers and face wash are also safe for beards?

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  7 років тому

      I wouldn't assume that, but in general you should focusing on the skin and not the beard with those cleaners. If your beard is so short you can't avoid it, then it's no big deal as you'd trim off split ends pretty rapidly.

    • @jakeboss6342
      @jakeboss6342 7 років тому

      thank you, my beard is pretty long, id say pretty much same length as Jeff's Minimalist Beard Video

  • @bradleytimms8783
    @bradleytimms8783 7 років тому

    How short should it actually be? No guard on the trimmer? 3mm? Longer? This is the first time I'm growing out facial hair so I'm just not sure what length looks best for patchy beards. I know it needs to be short but how short?

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  7 років тому

      That's really a personal preference. A 3mm should be fine if that's the style you'd like to rock.
