    Great and detailed video.
    However, I do have a few questions (for the sake of missunderstanding, I want to buy a car for my dad)
    If the car is never plugged to charge, does it charge by it's self through regenerative braking?
    What is a potential max range one can achieve with the car?
    Thanks.

      Charges from regen on braking yes. Max electric only range is up to 13miles

    I also have a 2016 350e and keep getting fault message for the 12v battery. booked Halfords to come and fit a new one but they could not do it national Tyres failed to do it as well. have watched the MB Club video but they say to confirm the battery's
    replacement in the Sam control unit which I cant do myself. Trying not to pay Mercedes price to do the job, but I did email them for a quote but never had a reply.

    • @damos_cars
      @damos_cars  2 роки тому

      Think it’ll be fine if you do it yourself. By telling it the battery is new it regulates the charge rate differently but they’re also designed not to over charge anyway so should not be a problem. Good video on here about how to swap it. An alternative might be to recondition it with a ctek charger. That can sometimes give them a new lease of life.

    Is the battery reliable? im looking to see if i want to buy a used one and im wondering if the battery would fail if its a 100k + km/mile car

      Mmm mine is ok 44k and is a 2016 model, definitely think the HV battery has seen better days. It works ok but can't see it last much part 100k to be perfectly honest.

      He worded this horribly. What he meant was when you park on a slope, you should manually activate the handbrake *before* putting it in Park. Because if you set the car in Park before the handbrake takes over the tension of holding the car, the entire weight of the car will be on the parking prawl inside the gearbox, and not actually on the handbrake. You’ve probably experienced when going from Park to Drive, the gearbox makes a thud. That’s the parking prawl going through some rough times.

    Great video! I’m considering buying a second hand C350E, 2017/2018 35k/40k mileage, but I’m quite concerned how long the hybrid batteries on these last as they aren’t covered for 15 years like Toyota hybrids. Any thoughts?

    • @damos_cars
      @damos_cars  11 місяців тому +3

      I think if the price is right for the car (are they're not expensive now) then I wouldn't worry too much. Ours has gone over the 50k mile mark now and the HV battery is fine. Best of all worlds for us. Electric only for short local trips, performance in sport+ when you need it and decent economical range for longer journeys all in fully loaded comfort. Its been a great car for us.

      It is yeh, go in eyes wide open I would say. Forearmed is forewarned as they say. All cars have their niggles that vid just covered the mostly frequently covered topics from the C350E Facebook group. A lot of cars on there have mega miles though. The C350E gobbles starter motors but once you know that then its not a massive issue, we just had ours fixed after the yellow malfunction cog icon but I was expecting it so no dramas and it still ran in petrol only (HV motor starts it from fresh oddly with the starter motor firing up the ICE when its motoring on in electric mode). The 12v battery's do expire too, again a bit of pain to swap (need to re-code them and they're buried next to the HV battery so a risky DIY) but once you know that and expect it then its ok. Honestly, I've had a lot of cars but few have given me as many trouble free comfortable miles with such an economical, sporty, jerkll and hyde character - the best of all worlds. I always planned to get rid in Sept this year (after 2 years owning it) but honestly don't think I will. Think I'm going to finally treat it to a new 12v battery, its earned it. There are a lot of PHEVs about now, still new tech but the C350E problems are known and established now. Some of the newer XC60 PHEVs have just as many problems looking at the Facebook groups. Find yourself a decent Merc specialist for when it does error and buy it, they're terrific motors.

    Hello. I want to ask, does this c350e can work as an electric generator or a big power bank during parking time?

    Nice review of the C350e. I have one also. regarding your first point about the outside air temp not being displayed. You can see it if you are in the trip menu you showed with the MPH then scroll back using the back button on the steering wheel which displays the trip and total mileage and at the bottom right hand corner the outside air temp is now displayed. Also you can mute the sat nav voice using one of the menu options on the sat nav as trying to mute the voice from the steering wheel can be a bit of a hit or a miss.

    Your battery capacity is quite good. I was getting 4-5 miles from a full charge when I bought mine. I have since had a new battery fitted by mercedes and I still only get 13-14 miles of range. Have you also replaced your battery by any chance? If not then I think your car has really been well looked after seeing as it’s getting 11 miles from 100%

    • @Nomoreranch0
      @Nomoreranch0 2 роки тому +1

      Also a tip to maximise your battery’s lifespan and performance. Never let it drain completely (it could actually fail, I learned the hard way by paying £8,000 for a new one) and also avoid charging it to 100% if possible.

    • @damos_cars
      @damos_cars  2 роки тому

      Assuming you mean the 12v batter. I'm not sure, I have looked in there but can't tell if its original or not. I have heard that the petrol motor runs more when the 12v is on the way out. I'll keep an eye out for it. So far it seems ok. Winter mpg is pretty poor though I guess with it being cold and having the lights and heat on etc. Cheers.
