  • The unique design of the Insty Connect makes it more like a satellite internet option - but it's actually cellular. It's probably best matched up against Starlink as an apples to apples comparison for the best device to get you internet while on the road.

Hey Nick Dan here from Team Woodrose. As you know we are full-time traveling in our four wheel camper I can't tell you how many times in remote areas where I either get one or no bars I can still hook into the insty connect and I am able to even stream most of the time. And because of that I do almost all my calling when I'm around the rig with Wi-Fi. What worries me about starlink is since the Russian invasion of Ukraine Russia and China are looking into ways to disrupt the starlink service. Keep up the good work and I have a video to send to insty headquarters.

We mainly market to travelers as our system works perfectly for those on the go. That being said, we do have LOTS of folks using it for their homes and what we've found is that our longest cable (30 foot cable) allows for the antenna to be high enough to get great results just about everywhere. We may at some point be looking into a different option for powering the system, but for now folks are seeing great results with the USB system. Thanks!

    • @WeCanExploreIt

Are you using it at your service address? It seems that they are prioritizing folks who are 'passing thru' cells so those who are using it at their service address can have better speeds. This video is speaking on the pros/cons of using it as an RVer, so that's why I wanted to point that out. As I said, I did get some great speeds at some points but was surprised in the performance that particular night. Thanks!

I got my Starlink RV just a week ago. My speeds are normally over 100Mbs (off peak) and 40Mbs (peak). Still, totally doable for the way I want to travel/work/play. The bottom line is the data cap on cell provider plans make them unusable for me.

I do remember in one of Nick's video he was having a problem in Quartzsite AZ and had to move to another location. On the other hand Starlink is putting more satellites into space weekly so it should only get better. Starlink now has the RV package where you only pay monthly when you actually use it, not stuck paying now when it's not being used. It's true you need a backup for now if living full time on the road.

Thank you for the video. I’m not very tech savvy, being a retired grandpa, and on a fixed budget. Starlink is definitely out of our budget. I’ve tried a few WiFi and fell boosters over the past two years. I use my iPhone hotspot for internet access and streaming to my RV . We live in the southwest and travel through some very remote areas with extremely limited cell signal ( Sprint/T-Mobile and Verizon) . WeBoost helps but it sounds like your system may be a bigger help. How do I find out more and can a non tech savvy old dude figure it out?

Everyone has a different experience I guess. My T mobile cell phone with unlimited data and calling is only costing me $45 per month including taxes. I don’t work on the road or download videos for storage but it has worked just great for me, regardless if it’s the first or last day of my billing cycle. I’ve come across three camp spots I’ve been to/through in 3 years and 40,000 miles where I couldn’t get service. Generally using my cell phone as a hotspot for Roku, Netflix, etc., hasn’t been an issue except two days in May when I was in very remote locations.
