- Crappie fishing tips and techniques for summer lake fishing. Hope these tips help. Below are some main points for summer crappie fishing:
1. Crappie fish around structure (submerged trees, bridge pillars, and docks)
2. Suspend bait in mid water column moving bait up and down to locate the depth of the fish. Never fish on the bottom or at the surface.
3. Always use minnows and jigs to increase your odds
4. Replace dead minnows immediately. The livelier the minnow the better.
5. Use 4lb monofilament line. Too thick of line and you'll lose bites
6. Change locations within 10 minutes if your not having luck

Thanks for watching and Good Luck fishing!
You have got to be the best fishing instructor I've ever discovered. I need a coach like you. I'm going to keep watching your channel. I want to learn everything I can. At 68 years of age, I've put off learning to fish for way too long.
Thanks for posting I have struck out too many times and haven’t been able to bring home one. I will give it another shot this Friday. I just want to try a taste of what everyone is raving about.
This is one of the best videos I've seen. Thanks.
Thanks for the best most informative video about catching summer crappie. I'm trying to better chances of white crappie catches. If I may ask, where exactly were you (Lake name and part of the lake)?
Great video. Good tips without all the garbage. Thanks

So Good! I'm 60 and I was hooked on every word. When I was about the age of this fisherman, I wondered why everybody wasn't living this kind of wonderful life. I would ask myself why, why are so many people unaware of the lake life. Too bad for me that I moved away and never got back to this. Please, Please enjoy this while you can and keep making this type of straight to the point video. Thank You! :-)
Get back out there!
@@luismeza797 I 'm going to do it so soon. I have a Sea Eagle 285FPB that I purchased off of eBay exactly one year ago. Drove about 8 hours one way to get it. Although used, it has never been in the water yet! Ha! I'm almost done with the simple mods now and will be n the water again in the next few weeks. Thanks for seeing that I was sincere in my comment. P E A C E / L O V E

What about 6 pound line
What is your rod setup?
Medium action or light action and how many foot long ?
I have been wondering how people catch crappie because I always catch bluegills. Carp, bass, and turtle.
Never crappie or catfish.
I will try your method out when I have time to visit the lake. 👍
Unfortunately you can’t use 2 rods In Ontario but I’ve been doing pretty good anyways and have 2 more in for “carp” cause you can use more than one for those and they eat live minnows you know what I’m saying lol
Can you post a video of the tying and setting up of the slip bobber technique
🤠👍👍👍...nice!!!....
I have 20 braided and pull croppie out left and right I also do other fishing such as bass fishing cat fish fishing and etc.
I subed

+brave boy thanks!
I use 6lb mr.crappie line and dont have problems at all and i fish on the tennessee river close to pickwick lake
Great Video Looks like you are on LOTO. Love fishing there
+Mark Carnes thanks! This was on LOTO
I kayak fish up on the Big Niangua. My daughter also just graduated from Mizzou. I think I saw you went to school there. Hope the football is better this year.Love your video's
I've recognized some of the locations you fish at and they are near Kansas City I like in lees summit Missouri right by Kc there is a really good gar spot you should try
I need to get back on some Crappies. Lately I've been all caught up in Catfishing, but my freezer stock of Crappie is almost depleted!
So nice to see a very young man with values!!!
Great video, your editing is amazing! What kind of equipment are you using? Good content kept it going! Look forward to future videos!
Great instructional video, I subscribed. Going to try this tomorrow in a couple lakes tomorrow. What's the best way to catch your own minnows?
ive used 30# braid and caught crappie on jigs and minnows. never had line size effect crappie or Sand bass.
Myself also, i use 10 lb cause bass and catfish hit the baits often.
Now I'm not a professional fisherman, but what I usually find best to catch crappie is a 1/32 ounce jig head, with a little chartreuse mister twister. Reel it in real slowly so it stays closer to the bottom and one after another, just keep catching them. Last night, I caught about 25 crappie from a private lake with that lure and we had an awesome night.
What rod and reel are you using?
Up
when you are fishing summer at night you can use a floating jig head and a minnow (when they are eating insects off the surface)
+Cheddar Head Fishing hmm I've never tried that. If it works you'll have to let me know. Good luck!
Anybody have advice on how to attach a hook to line? Noticed he directly tied for minnow but unsure for a jig. Directly tie or use a swivel? Thanks!
You can directly tie your main line to the jig
Never knew crappy could see line that’s over 4ib test ..makes sense why I never catch any but my wife with a cheap rod does
Good video. What are your thoughts of using yellow 4 pound test"? How did you learn so much? Thanks
Good places in gladstone to fish for bass and crappie?
Great vid, awesome tips. What size j hook did you use? Thanks.
+switchblade jim Size number 2 j hook
AnglersEscape Thank you.
Lake secret? What about river secrets? Thanks.
im hoping to go fishing this weekend wouls you recommend fishing in rondeau without a boat? i just do shore fishing as we dont own a boat would like to hear your thoughts
What lake or location were you fishing?
what lake do u fishing.
If you're fishing live minnows, drop shot is the way to go. Crappie usually stay suspended (off the bottom) and typically ascend to a bait. They don't like to descend. Drop shot with your hook/minnow 2-4 feet about will catch you more crappie, more mature crappie, and eliminate catching those dumb little catfish. I catch easily over 500 crappie a year between the open water and ice seasons and 50 percent are on drop shot techniques. They also don't feel the weight on your line and you can detect hits 10x easier being you don't have weights in between your bait and rod tip
I use 14 pounds of line is that okay because where I fish there's alot of crappie
+Tony Thao 14lb line will catch crappie. However you're likely to get fewer bites. Using 6lb test would likely give you more luck
That cat looked heavy before you pulled it out lol. Idk, I use 12.99 rod from Wal-Mart and pull up 2 ft catfish from a lake but my rod wasn't banding as much as yours. Haha idk, I kinda force them out from water lol
Also, I liked this video thanks for info. I accidentally caught crappie, with that 12.99 rod from Wal-Mart. Well, it was jammed so I was fixing it after I casted it, I guess it jigged lol but anyway good video:)
Also, splitshot 👌👌👌👌
I wanna meet you!!!!
Those fish are making me hungry for fried crappie
i used 15 lb. test line and caught 21 crappies
Christine and Shane Childers Meek why? I rarely see crappie fishermen using 6 lb let alone anything heavier
so, they can see the line but not the hook?
Yep selective blindness. Remember you heard it here first. LOL
The Louster they don't know what a hook is. It could easily be mistaken for a piece of vegetation
Wut lake is it were at
Outstanding instructional Video.
One of the best that I've seen so far. No one has given such details as you have. Really appreciate the details which make's fishing best for everyone.
Check out Darcy's fishing video's on here, she rocks.
Great tips.. thanks so much. Last year I caught lots and this year I can't hook any.. lots of northerns are biting but cant find the crappies
I have been fishing since the age of 7 years old that's when I first start it.& now I am 43 years old. Oh boy am I old or what.Soon I will be needing a walker laughing out loud. Anyway there's only two types of fish I love catching & eating and they are (( trout & crappies )) I don't know why but I just do. When I do my trout & crappie fishing I only use three beats that are out there & they are 97% effective then any other baits that are out there on the markets today + I also catch 98% more trout and crappies with these three baits and they are PAUTZKE salmon eggs, BERKLEY powerbait, and GULP alive 1 inch chartreuse Shad minnows, when I do use these. I don't know what it is about these baits but it's like a Feeding Frenzy the trout and the crappies they act like they never had eaten before. they become crazy like seriously. These three baits are kind of like a drug to them. Ever since it came out with these three baits. I had a lot more successful fishing with these more then anything. Some people say they don't work. well they do work they need to have patience when they use them that's all. When I use the gulp alive 1 inch chartreuse Shad minnows I use 6 pound test line and a small jig head and I lightly bounce them or jerk them off the bottom. In about couple minutes I start hitting a lot of crappies or trout with them. Like I said they truly do work but some people out there are not patient enough.

What state do you fish in?
Africa
crappie want cold water, must go deep in summer.
I caught a crappie with a dead minnow lol
rookies
Can u mention me in next video
3:15 sinve when do fish have nostrills
it is called Aberdeen hook dude.
I catch my crappie by rocks with a bluegill jig
Wow ! Lots of experience going on with a 13 year old Lol .
Those are small crappie. Anything under one pound needs to be put back to grow for next year. Any pregnant female needs to be let go as well.
Well if you did that you would want to enjoy a meal
There isn't a size or limit in a few lakes around here in nc. Since ppl have been keeping the smaller ones. Ive noticed the size increase over the last few years and the fish seem healthy compared to before.
1 pound will get ate my guy
