  • Crappie fishing tips and techniques for summer lake fishing. Hope these tips help. Below are some main points for summer crappie fishing:
    1. Crappie fish around structure (submerged trees, bridge pillars, and docks)
    2. Suspend bait in mid water column moving bait up and down to locate the depth of the fish. Never fish on the bottom or at the surface.
    3. Always use minnows and jigs to increase your odds
    4. Replace dead minnows immediately. The livelier the minnow the better.
    5. Use 4lb monofilament line. Too thick of line and you'll lose bites
    6. Change locations within 10 minutes if your not having luck

So Good! I'm 60 and I was hooked on every word. When I was about the age of this fisherman, I wondered why everybody wasn't living this kind of wonderful life. I would ask myself why, why are so many people unaware of the lake life. Too bad for me that I moved away and never got back to this. Please, Please enjoy this while you can and keep making this type of straight to the point video. Thank You! :-)

    What is your rod setup?
Medium action or light action and how many foot long ?
I have been wondering how people catch crappie because I always catch bluegills. Carp, bass, and turtle.
    Never crappie or catfish.
I will try your method out when I have time to visit the lake. 👍

Now I'm not a professional fisherman, but what I usually find best to catch crappie is a 1/32 ounce jig head, with a little chartreuse mister twister. Reel it in real slowly so it stays closer to the bottom and one after another, just keep catching them. Last night, I caught about 25 crappie from a private lake with that lure and we had an awesome night.

If you're fishing live minnows, drop shot is the way to go. Crappie usually stay suspended (off the bottom) and typically ascend to a bait. They don't like to descend. Drop shot with your hook/minnow 2-4 feet about will catch you more crappie, more mature crappie, and eliminate catching those dumb little catfish. I catch easily over 500 crappie a year between the open water and ice seasons and 50 percent are on drop shot techniques. They also don't feel the weight on your line and you can detect hits 10x easier being you don't have weights in between your bait and rod tip

I have been fishing since the age of 7 years old that's when I first start it.& now I am 43 years old. Oh boy am I old or what.Soon I will be needing a walker laughing out loud. Anyway there's only two types of fish I love catching & eating and they are (( trout & crappies )) I don't know why but I just do. When I do my trout & crappie fishing I only use three beats that are out there & they are 97% effective then any other baits that are out there on the markets today + I also catch 98% more trout and crappies with these three baits and they are PAUTZKE salmon eggs, BERKLEY powerbait, and GULP alive 1 inch chartreuse Shad minnows, when I do use these. I don't know what it is about these baits but it's like a Feeding Frenzy the trout and the crappies they act like they never had eaten before. they become crazy like seriously. These three baits are kind of like a drug to them. Ever since it came out with these three baits. I had a lot more successful fishing with these more then anything. Some people say they don't work. well they do work they need to have patience when they use them that's all. When I use the gulp alive 1 inch chartreuse Shad minnows I use 6 pound test line and a small jig head and I lightly bounce them or jerk them off the bottom. In about couple minutes I start hitting a lot of crappies or trout with them. Like I said they truly do work but some people out there are not patient enough.
