    I love how the villain is a one-to-one version of Hiccup had he decided to kill Toothless. While not physically imposing, his tactical and methodical mind make him the greatest dragonslayer in the world. Just like that very same mind makes Hiccup the greatest dragonrider in the world.

    14:45 “First time on his own”
    Actually this isn’t the first time, in a short Christmas Film called Gift Of The Night Fury, which took place after the first film, all the Dragons were leaving Berk and everyone didn’t know why, but later on it was Mating season for the Dragons and time for their eggs to hatch and Hiccup knowing that Toothless can’t fly on his own build an automatic Tail fin for him to go with all the other Dragons but Toothless Returned In the end cause at the start of the short Movie, When Hiccup and Toothless were flying, Hiccup Lost his Helmet and Toothless used that automatic tail just to get it back for Hiccup and in this movie Astrid said “You made one of these before and he didn’t like it” or something along those lines, because in Gift Of The Night Fury Toothless whacked his tail on the ground and threw of the Automatic Fin off his Tail and wanted Hiccup to put back on the Saddle, Red Tail Fin and everything else as if saying “If we’re going to fly, we fly like we always do”
    Sorry for the long Comment but just wanted to explain that and I Recommend taking a look at Gift Of The Night Fury

    There isn’t going to be a fourth movie, it’s the controversial confirmed upcoming live action version of HTTYD. Grimmel is a representation of What If hiccup did indeed kill Toothless right then and there in the first movie becoming the Night Fury Killer and I think they did it really well. Drugging his own dragons into obedience, being very tactical.

    The moral of the story throughout the movie is learning to let go and is not being your "true" and "authentic self". That's not meant to be rude, it's just the truth. After watching this with you reacting and catching the glimpses of the movie makes me know for sure now that this is without a doubt my most favorite movie of all time. The music, the jump in animation, the score, and so much more proves that this movie will stand the test of time. The night it came to theaters I went right away to watch it and let me tell you I freaking balled my eyes out at the end. The movie is so perfect I have no words to describe it. If I could meet Dean DeBlois and John Powell I would just give them a hug and thank them for the best childhood I could have ever had.

  • @j.w.sraptorsquad982
    @j.w.sraptorsquad982 Рік тому +2

    the thing about the Deathgrippers (Grimmel's dragons) being 'aware', as you say, of the fact that they are killing Dragons, is that they almost certainly know, they just don't care. In fact, the reason Grimmel specifically chose Deathgrippers as his beasts of burden in his goal of exterminating Night Furies, is that in the world of Dragons, Deathgrippers are basically the equivalent of apex predators, Dragons evolved specifically to hunt and kill other Dragons as their primary source of food. If most Dragons (the majority of whom eat primarily fish) can be comparable the big game of Africa, Deathgrippers are the lions/hyenas. So while Grimmel may be using their venom to keep this pack obedient to him, they are still basically acting as they would in the wild, so even if the collars were removed, the odds that they would be any friendlier to the riders of their natural food source are not particularly high
    also if you rewatch some of the Dragon crowd shots in the Hidden World, you will be able to see at least 3 other Light Furies (though congratulations on spotting Drago's Bewilderbeast in one of those very shots, that makes you one of the very few reactors I'm aware of to actually notice this), just to clarify that the Light Fury is basically a closely related species to the Night Fury, not the potential misconception that female Night Furies are white, so while Toothless might be the last of his kind (although I'm of the opinion that there are other Night Furies deeper in the Hidden World), his mate is definitely not the only Light Fury

    The short version of what I’m trying to say:
    TL;DR: The first tv show in this franchise (Riders/Defenders Of Berk to Race To The Edge) as well as all the short films are really good and I would really like it if you would react to them or at least watch it on your own time if you’re not gonna react to it on camera. I would really like to see more creators reacting to this show.
    The long version:
    This franchise has 3 movies and 3 different tv series’s as well as 2 Christmas themed short films, two non-Christmas short films and one short film that basically looks like a tv show episode. And while the two newer tv series’s are trash I would (depending on how much you enjoyed the movie/s) „highly“ recommend you to check all of the 5 seasons of the original tv series (Dragons: Riders Of Berk Season 1, Dragons: Defenders Of Berk Season 2 and Dragons: Race To The Edge Season 3 to 5 (RTTE has it’s own season count of season 1 to 6 since it’s much bigger than riders and defenders.)) as well as the short films preferably (for us) on UA-cam and/or Patreön but if you don’t want to at least alone off cam because even though there isn’t that many people who watched the tv show after the movie/s it’s really good! Though my guess to why so many people never watched it is probably because they think it’s for children and for children only even though it’s for about the same audience as the movies.
    In my personal opinion I would rank Dragons: Race To The Edge at about the same height as the first movie if not even higher and then Defenders, then Riders, then the first Christmas short film, than the sequel and then the other short films and then the threequel. Though opinions may differ.
    Also RTTE really picks up after season 1 of RTTE.
    And Dragons: Rescue Riders is a kids show and Dragons: The Nine Realms is so bad that you can’t even tell who the intended audience is because unless you’re a braindead 4 year old you’ll probably stop watching after the first episode because of how poorly written, designed and animated everything is. I think almost everyone ranks Rescue Riders and 9 Realms at the bottom of their tier list.
    Though I personally would really REALLY like seeing more people reacting to at least D:RTTE if nothing else since there is so many reactions to the movies but so little reactions to the tv series. Of course each individual episode isn’t as high quality as the movies because obviously they needed to pump out more episodes in a shorter amount of time compared to the movies where they had more time to produce an over an hour long movie. But the story, plot, narrative, characters and music are all still really good in the tv series. Also Fishlegs, Sir Snotsalot and The Nuts are all relevant main characters in the series. You also learn how the All the vikings learn to integrate dragons into their society and how for example Hiccup gets is flight suit or his flame sword. The only thing that tanked more heavily is the quality of the visuals but it gets much better in RTTE and it’s never so bad you can’t watch it. It’s still really good. It’s just much much worse compared to the movies. The tv show has over 100 episodes that are all over 20 minutes long. Also the show has really good villains and they get better every time they introduce a new one. And the villains from the show are much much better than the ones in the movies. In summary, The movies have beautiful animations and scenery while the tv shows have much better character writing and world building.
    I probably will or already have reused this comment under other newer HTTYD reactions in hopes of getting someone to start a reaction series for the Dragons tv series wich is why I put so much effort into writing it. Also I don’t know how to make this comment shorter while still being able to make my point.
    I would enjoy you (or anyone) reacting to the tv series but if ya don’t then that’s your choice. I can’t blame you. I can only give it my best shot to convince you or anyone who’s reading this to give it a shot but if ya don’t then ya don’t it ain‘t the biggest deal in the whole world.

    31:46 - The villain seems like he was meant to be a "What if Hiccup had killed Toothless instead of freeing him."
    Raised in an environment where killing dragons was the norm? Check.
    Not physically imposing like Drago or the Dragon Queen? Just like Hiccup compared to his dad or Eret? Check.
    Uses inventions and intelligence over raw strength? Check.
    Uses dragons even though you wouldn't expect him to? (In his case as a dragon hunter, and Hiccup's case, coming from a village of dragon killers?) Check.
    Believes what he's doing is the best for people unlike the Dragon Queen and Drago who only wanted dominion over others? Check. (8:28)
    It all comes back to this: 17:58
    Just as freeing Toothless after downing him set Hiccup on a path that lead him where he is now, so too did Grimmel irrevocably change when he chose to _kill_ the Night Fury.

    If you want more then you should definitely watch the series, you will find out what happened between the first and the second movie, there are lots of new dragons, the villains are really well done (plus when Hiccup said "we've dealth with his kind before" he mean one of the villains from Race to the edge), you will see some of the characters from a much better angle than in the movie, you will met some new amazing characters, and a lot of the things you saw in the second movie will be explained how it actually started, there will also be a lot of cute moments between Hiccup and Astrid, the series is divided into two parts, one takes place after the first movie, and the other 1/2 years before the second movie, my favorite part is definitely the second, the first part consists of two seasons of 20 episodes each, and the second part consists of 6 seasons of 13 episodes each, but honestly it's really worth watching, I say this as a fan who got to know this franchise 10 years ago and I loved it immediately

      Yeah Riders of Berk, Defenders of Berk and Race to the Edge are an enjoyable ride to watch if you love this franchise! Some great character arcs, world building and just everything you’d want out of a Httyd series. However those are the only ones I’d recommend. Rescue Riders is confirmed not canon and apparently the dragons talk, so not really worth the watch, and The Nine Realms is “canon” but it breaks it many of times and ruins Hiccups legacy so would never recommend that. But the other 3 yes! Like OP said, the first 3 series’ do take place between 1 and 2 and do help you understand a few things and also make you like the side characters much more than you may already do! Also makes Stoicks death sadder because we see his character growth in these series’ massively😢

    Honestly it's still kinda hard to say which one I like the most. The original is an incredible classic but it was a little more grounded and had way more cliche aspects, I love how the sequel expanded the world, strenghtened the family bonds and had a cool villan, and the third one devastated me with how the dragons had to leave so that everyone was safe plus it was heartwarming seeing toothles with a partner but I just can't stop thinking about things that I didn't enjoy: Snotlout having feelings for Hiccup's mum and how the antagonist felt very bland and had basically no motivation. He was supposed to be a reflection of what could Hiccup end up like if he killed a nightfury but he just had no depth which left me kinda disappointed

    I followed this franchise since the beginning. I was 8 when the 1st movie came out, and I loved it. I was 12 when the second came, and Stoick's death shook me to my core. It was my 17th birthday when the 3rd one came, and I cried hard at that ending.

    This is certainly my favourite of the greatest movie Trilogy ever made and the most underrated of the Trilogy don't get why most think this is the weakest? The entire third act is one of the most moving pieces of cinema I've ever seen😭. Can't believe this masterpiece is nearly 5 years old now, the 2025 live action remake won't even compare to the original animated Trilogy!

    • @mightheal
      @mightheal Рік тому +1

      It's the weakest because the ending message for the franchise is horrible and goes against the previous 2 movies message that education is the key. The whole franchise is ultimately about how to deal with discrimination and the ending about letting go of Toothless made sense but they basically said for discrimination the best way to deal with it is to run and hide.

    Don't be sorry for beeing broken at the end.
    I left the theater in tears, not because of the bitter-sweet ending, but because like Astrid I grew with this trilogy and I was realizing that I would have to let it go.
    I am very glad that they have the guts to make such an ending and I wouldn't wan an other movie after that.
    This is really a perfect trilogy.

    14:00 So Toothless is the only Night Fury left, but the female is not the only Light Fury left. They are close enough to mate and reproduce, but they aren’t the exact same species or breed. I’m not sure what the proper term is.

    • @gabrieldobson3469
      @gabrieldobson3469 Рік тому

      They're the same species, but just subspecies. So Polar Bears and Brown Bears are both bears, just different types. Just think of it as they're both Furies just two different subspecies. Like there are 5 different subspecies of tigers that currently exist today.

    Ocean’s 13
    The Mask
    The Grinch
    Shanghai Noon
    Ace Ventura 2

    The villain is literally what Hiccup would become if he did kill Toothless when he caught him in the first movie. He also used technology but instead of helping the dragons, the villain used it to kill/control them. I love that perspective

    My daughter loves HTTYD. She's got a lightfury costume that she's used for Halloween for 3 years now, lots of stuffies of the various dragons, loved the Netflix series, made me buy all the books for her, etc. And she loves it that much becuz I showed it to her in the 1st place becuz I love it too. and this, of course, means that I loved your reactions to all 3 of the films :D
    Another animated masterpiece is "Kubo and the Two Strings" -- it's stop motion animation, and a standalone film, and simply amazingly wonderful.

    Since its Christmas/Holiday season, you should watch and react to the 2 short films they release during the holidays. One is called Gift of the Night Fury (which took place between the first and the second movies) the other is a short film called How to Train Your Dragon: Homecoming (which approximately took place just before the final scene in this 3rd movie when they went and visited Toothless and his family)

    😎👍 I'll say it again: While Dreamworks Animation's franchises ("How To Train Your Dragon," "Kung Fu Panda," "Shrek" & "Madagascar") get all the publicity, many of the studio's one-offs are among their best. You've already seen "Megamind" and I'm sure you'd also enjoy "Over The Hedge" (2006), "Flushed Away" (2006), "Monsters Vs Aliens" (2009), "Rise Of The Guardians," (2012), "Turbo" (2013) and "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" (2014).
