June 26, 1952 “ The Big Roll” * Incredible 69 years later this and all these radio Dragnets are still compelling. Just really weird how everything they informed the wife was simply “just routine”… wonder if police always said that? Webb was a radio genius. Thanks for the UA-cam post 👌
That's a first. The crook ask for a cigarette and Friday ignores him. Usually even when Friday and the crook are at each others throats and the suspect says hey got a smoke Joe says sure and then they go back at it.
I appreciate all the old radio shows...after hearing a couple dozen episodes, I’m thinking that Dragnet was one long commercial for cigarettes...they’re offered and prominently displayed several times in every episode, normalizing them as a regular part of one’s daily routine.
They were a part of there daily routine.. everyone smoked back then . I was told my Mom smoked in the hospital when I was born 😲 made it to 67 so far 👍🏼
It was the American thing to do, everyone smoked. It was a normal thing to do, for everyone. The fact it’s sponsored by a cigarette company is the only reason you hear the ads so much.
Funny the cigarettes offer protection.... from what ? I thought they were Mild 😎. Who would want to make a living running a bar “ in that kind of neighborhood “ 🤔💉 the 797 Club . Must have been something 🥳

Thank you for posting these episodes!
Lesson - Don't flash your money around in a bar. You will get "rolled."
