    This might be helpful with a full list of motherboards including audio codecs docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NQHkDEcgDPm34Mns3C93K6SJoBnua-x9O-y_6hv8sPs/edit#gid=513674149. But besides 4080 it has something additional. On the bottom of the list you can switch between 670s and 650s.

    I always appreciate when people refer to videos from other channels and perspectives! Just some comments:
    At 2:18, I could be wrong, but I think you misunderstood what PC Builder was saying. He was saying that the X670 boards provide useless features, which is in line with what you said afterwards. (The time you had his video paused at was also saying this: "X670 for AM5 $$ pointless features").
    At 7:05, there was an 8% increase in the average 1% low FPS from the PCIe gen 3 SSD to the highest gen 4 one, and a 3% improvement from the gen 3 to the lowest gen 4 one. That definitely IS a difference, but it's way less of a difference than the examples with HDDs (obviously). The video you referenced was also testing a game that uses DirectStorage, which isn't available for most games right now. I saw you made another video investigating the impact on SSDs and FPS where you found in some cases posted by other youtubers that lower gen SSDs sometimes had (slightly) better FPS than the higher gen ones, and also speculated whether the random read/write performance of the drives may have more impact on gaming performance. I would think this is the correct path to go with investigating storage speed impact on gaming performance, but this definitely should be looked into more by others! So I don't think the general rule of higher gen = better performance is necessarily true, as you found.
    On another note, have you looked at boot times for AM5 boards? I've seen videos / read online that the B650 boards have very slow boot times compared to AM4, but a lot of this was posted a couple of months ago so I'm not sure if there have been any improvements to the BIOS or if that would even impact boot times.

    • @HardwareAccent
      @HardwareAccent  6 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for the feedback.
      Regarding the slow boot time on AM5 - it depends. Some motherboards still have slow boot time if you activate EXPO. My ASUS motherboard had that slow boot time but in my case I could turn off memory training on each boot and the boot time are fast again. However, for some people it's not an option as their PC may become unstable if they don't retrain memory on each boot. That slow boot is an issue if that happens to you. It feels extra bad as you have no signal on your monitor for like 30s and it feels like your PC doesn't post.
      I've made a video on how to fix it. It works most of the time but not always.

    Wonderful. I have always liked motherboards with the msot type of connectivity options. For me for the AM5 platforn ( generation ) is the : Asus ProArt X670-E Creator Wifi. The B650 counterpart to this board is probably a very good option as well but I like to have MotherBoards I can grow with into the future. Starting with the X470 generation up to the X670-E that we have now The ProArt series has better audio as well since it's designed to be used in " production " like Audio or Video. Yes the ProArt series isn't the cheapest but it's not the most expensive either. I feel is a very good midle cost option for a large number of users. Please take another look at this motherboard and all of it's features to understand why it's for a better term a ( sleeper ) option.

    I tend to like this channel more and more. People are way too biased when it comes to hardware and it takes quick analyses like these to make them think and choose more logically instead of based on feelings or nostalgia.
    Every generation u need to check every model for what it offers and what u need. Asrock sometimes great boards and sometimes less good ones. This one seems great.
    And btw the nvme 4 fps advantage, I assume that only works for games with direct storage?
    Good stuff, keep it up!

    • @HardwareAccent
      @HardwareAccent  8 місяців тому +3

      Thank you for such kind words. For a small channel like mine, it's almost like a handshake in person. I'm also grateful for the fantastic question. The topic of NVMe drive influencing FPS is so intriguing and under-researched. I'm already working on a video about this very topic. A good content idea is the best gift a UA-camr can get, so thank you for that as well. Spoiler alert: NVMe seems to benefit some more games than the two that support direct storage.

    You made it so easy to pick a MOBO! Going for the ASRock B650M-HDV with an external DAC, It's really not worth it to spend more on a motherboard for the better audio, when an external DAC completely fixes this issue and offers a better experience than onboard audio.

    • @HardwareAccent
      @HardwareAccent  6 місяців тому +2

      MB with 2 slots tends to work better in general due to how they are connected. They usually can handle higher RAM speeds. More knowledgeable people than me made videos about this. I don’t think new CPUs even support quad channel. It’s dual channel even with 4 RAM sticks now.

    Great video very informative before I decide my mobo upgrade. Though the old chipsets could be just as good as newer chipsets considering spees. Tho It's about the design and how the thermals work under seveare circumstances like overclocking. Yes you don't have to overclock but it is something to take into consideration when buying a well design and quality motherboard.
    It happened to my current build I jumped in didn't educate myself and bought a mobo with poor thermal quality. So I took it back and got one of the best motherboards on the market asus tuf gaming x760 for basically the same price.
    Side note you wouldnt want a cheap motherboard paired with the top of the line architecture lol We build so upgrading is easier in the future to save $$$
    Just like in my case my mobo only supports am4 chipset so im stuck with getting 5800x3d when the 7800x3d is only $50 more but itll cost me more cuz now i have to upgrade my motherboard. So now im in a situation is the 5800x3d worth the upgrade to save $50 or spend around $200 - $300 for a am5 upgrade but i guess thats my situation.
    Last last note and my mobo is bad azz

      Max performance is great but bear in mind that means overclocked memory controller. EXPO stands for “EXtended Profiles for Overclocking”. Newest CPUs support up to 5200 and everything above is when overclocking memory controller. 6000MT/s is often considered as the sweet spot. More aggressive overclocking may not give expected performance boost while causing more stability problems and even lead to premature silicone degradation.
