polina ushakova hi Polina, in the description of this video you can download a list of the most common phrasal verbs and there's a lot of examples, wich your mainly doubt is in. See you
I'm an English teacher in a country as beautiful as yours, Brazil. I can say that you are one of the best teachers I have ever seen. I found your channel last week, and I'm already a fan. My wife even said that you explain things like I do, with a light spirit and humour. I'm very happy that there is a professional like you; and you helped me a lot to find a way to better approach Phrasal Verbs, which is something very difficult for Romance language speakers to understand. God bless!
Wow, that's a real treasure. Always struggle to remember and use phrasal verbs mostly due to their 'random' meanings, but this explains a lot :) Thank you.
As I ESL teacher I have struggled to find any formula for teaching phrasal verbs. You are absolutely correct that standard methodology says they're illogical and require memorization. Thank you for this revolution in teaching phrasal verbs.
I've always looked for a someone who could explain the logical perspective lying behind the phrasel verbs such as break up, look up, go on, keep on, come up, better off - because I can't lay any knowledge in my long-term memory if I can't get the basic logical reason of why this or that is used that way. I thank you for this great job. We learners highly suffer from the lack of teacher doing it the way yo do. I suppose that almost all native speakers don't chew over the reason of why they use "better" with "off" when they want to talk about improvement. Because they've embraced it as it is since their childhood, but for anyone who's trying to keep any phrasel verb in their word reservoir, it's crucial to get to know its underlying perspective.
@C "you've nailed it" or "you nailed it"? :) I guess both are correct (I'm not a native english speaker). But americans would use the past tense in this case.
Altre Frontiere - I am not a native speaker myself, but, on second thought, I think you’re absolutely right. Good point. “You nailed it” is more like a chunk of language, a ready to use idiomatic expression, more naturally used without a correct verb tense concern. Thanks!
BEST LESSON I'VE *EVER* SEEN ABOUT PHRASAL VERBS !!! thank you so much for this, finally someone really explaining the logic behind these prepositions ❤🙏🏻
Excuse me , can u tell me if it wat do it is right or wrong . after I finished the lesson i wrote all the phrasel verb in my notebook and tried to compose a short story cotain these phrasel verb.
Never I hear so clear English, to be so easy to understand, never I hear, never I read a teacher with so profound penetration in genune core of the English and language in general, as Canguro dо! That was a big challenge and revelation for me!
Mister, I'm speechless... you are the best teacher i've ever seen. You teach English in a way very easy way! you also have a deep knowledge of English. Thank you so much to share what you know with us. Keep on making videos please
Now I see that the most important part of the phrasal verbs are the particles. If you learn the particle or preposition, you will be able to understand phrasal verbs. Thanks for your explanation. You really made me keep motivated.
Incrível!!! Eu sou Brasileiro, os frasais verbs é o assunto mais difícil para mim ao estudar inglês. Estou entendendo com esse professor não só o que ele diz (a dicção dele é boa para quem está iniciando) quanto entendo o que ele está explicando. Fantástico!!! Agradeço muito!!!

I'm in Canada and I speak fluent english but I watched this nonetheless because it's a pleasure to see english taught from a cognitive linguistic basis. It honestly baffles me why the lessons of this field aren't applied more in language teaching. I myself have just finished reading Adele Goldberg's Explain Me This and reading it while learning Turkish at the same time has been incredibly insightful.
Using Cognitive linguistics as an explanation method is super effective and easy to digest. It makes much more sense for non native speakers to grasp the nature and origin of phrasal verbs. Thanks for sharing 🙏🙂
If I have had you as my English teacher when I was a teenager, I would not have spent decades to learn English. You are fun, motivating and clear: compliments for such a high quality work. I wish u all the best for the work you do. Regards. G
I'm trying to learn phrasal verbs for past few years but the way you are teaching i can't describe the happiness. Thank you cristian. Your voice is soo soothing. And I'm learning alot.

Janusz Wojnarowicz you have to watch this video many times and practice using the phrasal verbs in your speaking, listening and reading many many many ....times.
Do not worry a lot man! I was actually the same way as you. I was not proficient at English as of now. This is going to happen to you a lot but the more you watch and listen the better your brain and your mouth are connected to spill out some sentences without even thinking in them. Do not get frustrated and keep going I bet your doing such a great job so far!
I'm a little teapot short and stout Here is my handle, here is my spout. When the kettle boils hear me shout Tip me over and pour me out! I'm a little teacup nice and round Fill me up and drink me down. Put in a little honey in your tea Then when you are ready take a sip from me. I'm a little cookie, nice and brown Chew me up and swallow me down. I'm a little crummy, that's just me, And I taste really good with you cup of team. I'm a little teapot short and stout Here is my handle, here is my spout. When I get all steamed up hear me shout Tip me over and pour me out!
"Up" is the head, the upper part of your body. To "shut up" then describes to close something opened on your upper body member; your mouth. In fact, you can say "shut your mouth" as a replacement to "shut up". Since "up" can refer to your head, then it gets easier to understand that "my grandpa takes 20 pills a day, he sometimes mixes them up" means that he confuses the pills

I'm a little teapot short and stout
Here is my handle, here is my spout.
When the kettle boils hear me shout
Tip me over and pour me out!
I'm a little teacup nice and round
Fill me up and drink me down.
Put in a little honey in your tea
Then when you are ready take a sip from me.
I'm a little cookie, nice and brown
Chew me up and swallow me down.
I'm a little crummy, that's just me,
And I taste really good with you cup of team.
I'm a little teapot short and stout
Here is my handle, here is my spout.
When I get all steamed up hear me shout
Tip me over and pour me out!

Q
I'm a english leaner in South Korea. Your videos are very useful for me to understand god damn phrasal verbs. I really appreciate it.
Thanks, your explanation has helped me to better understand the phrasal verbs meaning and not trying to memorize them forcibly.
why does "shut up" means to stay in silence? i did not conect it yet...
What about " shut down" you need to shut what? 🤔🙄😕😩
chocolate biscuits LOL
