I usually play around on this little Casiotone MT-68 I have until I get all the notes right. Essentially, I teach myself the songs I want to cover on keyboard before I start tracking. Since I've been doing this for a few years now, it's become pretty easy for me to figure out what's being played just by hearing it. If you have an instrument, I recommend listening to small portions of a song at a time and trying to figure them out one part at a time. It helps if you know a bit of music theory.
I have to say, Wind Waker used to be my favorite until I played Skyward Sword. Swinging the Wiimote around 1:1 leaves a feeling of satisfaction that mashing a button never will. On topic: This remix is epic :D
wow. you got a lot out of 8 channels. sounds perfect! just imagine what it would sound like on an nes, with the sound effects cutting in every 2 seconds. :)
This one works. Not as much going on in the original orchestration, so the arrangement comes out cleaner. I am now actually in the process of putting my money where my mouth is on OoT Overworld- maybe 25% done, but I got a bit derailed for the past couple weekends around GDC.
I have a question. Has anyone done Famitracker covers that sound good using just the plain NES setup? No extra channels or VRC6 or any of that stuff. While that's awesome, I'm really interested in seeing what people can do with a more limited system.
Hi Rebecca! Maybe you can help me with something. You see, for choir I want to sing Dance Through the Danger from Shantae, but there are no good instrumentals. I was wondering if you could make one? Thanks!
@coatlesscarl you're right, I just listened to the original. I just guessed from my ears when I commented before. :) anyways, well done, it's a great piece :)
I don't know of any one person committed to using only the default 2A03 chip, but lots of people have a couple of videos where they try to squeeze as much as they can from the 2A03.
I try to do covers of songs like you through famitracker although I guess what I hear is slightly lower or in a different key because I try to track audio by repeating it back to myself by singing. My voice is lower than most pieces so it comes off differently. is there a way to track the notes better? I have heard of using audacity but I still cant seem to catch it very well. I have made some songs with the 2A03 Chip but you can tell there isn't much weight to the music though.
does a penny whistle count? lol jk, yeah I figured practice would make perfect just as a college student I dont have a place to practice with a piano, maybe I can work with my roll up piano, even though its incredible awkward. thanks for the input.
I am also a fan of wind waker and using famitracker and i can't seem to figure out how to add more then five instruments. i only has the noises triangle pulse and the dcpm. how do i add more like you?
Just curious, do you think you can do a VRC6 remix of the Super Metroid prologue theme mixed together with "The Legendary Hero" from Wind Waker? Please?
Is there a way to download your covers? (in like .wav or .mp3 format) cus it would be awesome to have them on a playlist on my phone, and have them on repeate, all your covers are amazing o3o
Trippy Toad Maybe a hack for Minish Cap but replace the sprites with ones from the original LoZ on NES, so you could have more RAM to work with. Or are there no hardware limitations with ROM hacks? I've never rom hacked before...
dude...seriously.... you kicked me in the nostalgia balls with this
I am not sure, if that is good, or bad...
It hurts but it's good @@IncapableLP
I'm beginning to suspect this song was made for 8-bit before being put in Wind Waker, this song just fits 8-bit sound so well!

God...
You made me think about the game again ...
*manly tears* So many childhood-memories ... Thanks for that.
makes me smile, wind waker has the best start to any game ive ever played
I remember playing this when I rented it from blockbusters.....*manly tear* good old days
Oh my God, the nostalgia just hit me like a wave! Seriously, these are all fantastic. And yes, Wind Waker is absolutely incredible.
There are links to MP3s in the "About" tab on my channel.
This is by far my favorite rendition of this song. Very well done. :)
This song completed the aesthetics to a skit I recently made perfectly. thank so much! (I credited you in the description)
Now I need Dragon Roost Island in 8-bit :)

My goodness... This is genuinely beautiful and also very nice since I just woke up. Subscribed!
Only if you want to. I don't require that people credit me if they want to use my covers, but I do appreciate it when they do.
Wind Waker is my second favorite Zelda installment. Lots of memories!
This made me smile, brought back memories of my first Zelda game...
I have to say, Wind Waker used to be my favorite until I played Skyward Sword. Swinging the Wiimote around 1:1 leaves a feeling of satisfaction that mashing a button never will.

Words cannot describe how thankful I am for this, despite having not grown up with The Wind Waker itself.
I'm from that generation, though.
much nostalg, very love
please put this on iTunes. PLEASE SHUT UP AND TAKE MY RUPEES I WILL BUY THIS
If any modern music from any modern game sounds good in 8-but, then you know its really good
Glorious. I would love to hear more Wind Waker tunes covered in this fashion!
This is the best thing I have ever bloody heard
wow. you got a lot out of 8 channels. sounds perfect! just imagine what it would sound like on an nes, with the sound effects cutting in every 2 seconds. :)
this track has a surprisingly good compatibility with 8-bit. More than most of the other zelda songs ive heard converted to 8-bit.
I figure the channel's dead for the time being but I still subbed. Amazing work and I'd hope for more some day
Wind Waker+8-bit/awesomeness= Take all my money
Xtremz LIKEZ !!
Go on, it really sounds wonderful !
this is fantastic
Owww....it hurts.......my nostalgia....IT BURNS!!!!!!
Interesting tracker! I have not heard of Famitracker. I'll have to look into that. Used to play around with Impulse Tracker a lot when I was younger.
This works so well :D
It's so happy!
My subwoofer is very happy with this music ^^
if someone can 8bit the entire games music and replace them with 8 bit, PLEEEEASE give me that iso. I'd love that.
Oh i love this music. Make me feel like play game with backup loader.
... Do you happen to have the ftm file still? This is awesome!
This is so beautiful!
It sounds so good!! Great job!!!
This melody reminds me a bit of Kokiri Forest from Ocarina of Time

Nice job! Your version sounds much more "full" compared to mine. Though to be fair I only used the first 4 channels. Fun stuff.
Oh my god! This makes me so happy, so many good memories! :D
This sounds like something that would be in Dragon Quest. Excellent stuff.
I have a question. Has anyone done Famitracker covers that sound good using just the plain NES setup? No extra channels or VRC6 or any of that stuff. While that's awesome, I'm really interested in seeing what people can do with a more limited system.
Two nostalgia gut punches in one.
This is amazing! I love it
Wind Waker IS the best Zelda game, friend.
I melted.
@Skelpolu but 3.8 beta 3 is out so it can be done anyway
YES
WIND WAKER
I LOVE YOU
Just wow. It's really good!
@Elrinth It's an odd little progression but it is correct.
Wow! I'm amazed!
Hi Rebecca! Maybe you can help me with something. You see, for choir I want to sing Dance Through the Danger from Shantae, but there are no good instrumentals. I was wondering if you could make one? Thanks!
Ahh, 2A03. Thanks! I just want to get good using that before fully opening the sails, as it were.
Fantastic.
@coatlesscarl you're right, I just listened to the original. I just guessed from my ears when I commented before. :) anyways, well done, it's a great piece :)

sounds nice man!
Not bad... and that comes from someone who didn't care that much for Wind Waker. Very well done.
Is it possible to have the .ftm?
Nice stuff.
1:29 I never noticed Kokiri Forest was mixed in there
Its not in this one but it is in Forest Haven
No it's in both.
Speaking of Wind Waker, a VRC6 version of Dragon Roost would pretty cool.
This is making me sleepy...

wow.... such awesome. where stop. so great.... wow.
bassline at 00:31 is wrong I think, but I'm not sure.
does a penny whistle count? lol jk, yeah I figured practice would make perfect just as a college student I dont have a place to practice with a piano, maybe I can work with my roll up piano, even though its incredible awkward. thanks for the input.
Sounds perfect to me lol.

I’m not crying your crying
Just curious, do you think you can do a VRC6 remix of the Super Metroid prologue theme mixed together with "The Legendary Hero" from Wind Waker? Please?
You're the best.
@hylianarmy0 I request it as soon as the big famitracker-update is out, that has to be done ...
Is there a way to download your covers? (in like .wav or .mp3 format) cus it would be awesome to have them on a playlist on my phone, and have them on repeate, all your covers are amazing o3o
videograbber (dot) net you can convert it to mp3
if there was a wind waker hack to make the worlds and characters look like they came from minecraft, this would be the theme for outset island!
Except minecraft doesn't have 8 bit music.
A hack for the original Zelda to make it look and/or play like Wind Waker would have been better.
Yeah...
Trippy Toad Maybe a hack for Minish Cap but replace the sprites with ones from the original LoZ on NES, so you could have more RAM to work with. Or are there no hardware limitations with ROM hacks? I've never rom hacked before...
Go right ahead.
Is made by you or do you got it from somewhere?
Twilight Princess... True classic. And Link to the Past. Aaaand Zelda 64... But yeah. Twilight Princess has to be the best one.
Good shit
Have you considered trying Minecraft music? "Sweden" in 8-bit would be fantastic.
Wizardry is afoot here.
Hey, could I use this in a video?
+DogeFX Go right ahead!
Same here...
This.
haha i like it
